[Exalted, ?] Most High

Anyhow, the votes seem to break down into a pretty clear delineation. The political clout and monetary power of Sesus, the personal power of the Sword of Endings, and the power of Unity Fist friendship of one of the secret masters of the Realm.

Many different voting paths converged in Disguise, and now they're diverging again. The Realm Dynasty story, the personal power juggernaut, and the BFF Social Links.

[X] Night Time - Moon is indisposed, but you can do nothing for her. Her fate is in the hands of the healers. Still, you cannot help but desire to act. Perhaps you could clarify the confusion within you on another matter: Reminiscent Ivory, who you keep thinking of as "Pearl." Memories float to the fore, like unanchored bouys, but you would be remiss to investigate them without also investigating her. It feels almost as if the two of you have a connection, but it is fluctuating wildly, uncertain...

You can stab them in the face. It works really well. The Sword is largely a strategic weapon.

That's more of less correct. You need personal prowess to safely wield the Sword That Ends the World...

So guys, what do you think is the craziest power grab you can see us doing in this quest?

Personally? Figuring out a permanent Unity of the Closed Fist with the rest of the Solar Exaltations.

Hm, probably pointless. A Solar Exaltation is a font of imperishable might, which means it has infinite power, so there's no need to go looking for more power of the same nature. A fusion with Lea, Pearl, An Abyssal, Mnemon Ayala, and Moon, though...

You know if Ivory sides with Odyssian, can we help her be welcomed back in Heaven, since all the gods are rightfully scared shitless of Odyssial and would probably do anything to get out of punishment. After all he reduced Lytek to a gibbering wreck at Greatness 9 Heartlessness 8. Odyssial here was Greatness 10 Heartlessness 10.

Sure, once you've grown a bit more into the fullness of your power. You're just a baby Solar right now! Mighty as you are, there are still those who are mightier. A situation that ought to be rectified.

You what I just realized? The Husk? "Everything Improves" What happens if we (somehow) got that to Auto?

I thought Exaltation were pretty simple? You're giving up a permanent chunk of your power to someone else.

A Solar Exaltation can match or exceed the Sun himself, which implies something more.

[X] Essentially As Planned
[X] Escape

Still catching up after a few days out of town, so I'm not prepared for arguments (still reading the existing ones), but I think I'm sufficiently confident to vote before a deadline. I know Escape is going to lose, but Disguise is just too ridiculously unlikely to succeed (as well as harming our near-future survival by rearranging charms and such) for me to support and Kill seems a bit too bloodthirsty this soon.

Also, @Rihaku there's one post not currently threadmarked I think should be . I had to go searching for it to understand the results of that vote, personally. Just a thought.

I checked that post, but I don't think it should be necessary. It didn't introduce any info, just re-iterated old choices. I just need to list all of Odyssial's choices somewhere.

Rihaku asked us awhile ago for Evocations for Odyssial's sword, but we were kind of busy arguing Kill Flame/Not Kill Flame and stuff.

I don't really understand how Evocations work, but I'd go for thematic resonance. Ten evocations for the Lord Strategos, to go with Greatness 10 and Heartless 10. Each details a significant event of his life.

His life as a mortal, to survive in a world that hates you.
The first Dawn, when Odyssial slew four-armed Larsiyfex.
The War of Glory, when Odyssial turned Lethos into the river Lethe (holy shit).
Meeting the Queen of Masks, a disguise so potent that you become the mask in every respect.
The Odyssian Horse gambit which earned him the title Lord Strategos. The peerless general takes the field.
A peace without ending. Fist of Unity gattai with Ivory.
The Ender of Ten Thousand Stories, a technique to force order on chaos.
Blade and Banner, Sidereals are given an irresistible urge to fight over him. Anys Syn: just tsundere?
The Singularity Husk. When an ideal and the world are in disharmony...
The Fairest, and the mitigation of Limit Breaks.

An interesting idea! The Singularity Husk is probably last, though. It's The End of the story of Creation.

I feel like you've given this exact same response before.

And someone said the same thing I did, just now.

Comes from three threads, I guess. Still weird.

It would have been kinda awkward with Saery, though. She seemed to fumble around whenever the whole "Uly is a squishy mortal" thing came up.

Hm, in what sense? She's pretty comfortable around mortals and knows their strengths, but also their limits. That's why she gave him some Skin-Like-The-Mountains Oil!

"You were to bring balance to Creation, not leave it in darkness!"

Haha! Glad someone picked up on that.

Saery fumbled around cutely about a lot of things.

Personally, I think Uly and Saery would have had a long, pleasant and profitable marriage together. No great love for the ages, but... nice.

Can we throw it back in and get a golden axe?

You can have a fairy?

Ah, right. The awkwardness was only initially.

She even shrugged off us hiding in her closet overnight.

I should have known I was re-reading everything too fast.

I like to think she didn't actually know we were in there until she went to get a fresh change of clothes after her morning ablutions.

Ulyssian was just in there... waiting.

Personally, I think we should totally prop Moon up to be the ruler of the Isle, we can even help her accomplish one of the Win Conditions of the Realm Civil War by giving her access to the Sword of Creation!

Well, if you want to do that, there's someone else you might have to go through. Someone who is tired of the incompetence and graft that surrounds him. Someone who is supremely more powerful than her. Someone who failed Creation once, but, in the direness of the hour, sees no alternative but to venture forth, once more, into the breach. To try again...

[X] Family Time

This is pretty time-sensitive, since they're going to be, uh, irritated that we didn't reveal our Exaltation to them before this. The Sword can wait in our anima and our history with Ivory isn't going to rewrite itself, but this is a limited opportunity. They're here now, which won't always be the case, and they'll be coming off the pleasant surprise of our own Exaltation. So, if we want to mend fences and make new opportunities... now's the time.

Well, all three options are time-sensitive. Is it wise to undertake drastic action without a full accounting your capabilities? Also, the connection between you and Pearl Ivory is in deep flux, but may stabilize at any time. Who knows what dynamic will result, if the matter is left unchecked?

Wasn't her name Pearlescence? Or is that simply too unwieldy for casual use?

Hmm... the sword is probably going to be difficult to hide, unless we can dispatch it back into our anima again at will, but more training is always in-character for Ulyssian.

... Actually, thinking on it some more, the existence of Anys Syn might be a reason against picking the Night Time action. Like, what if that's the option that accidentally has us run into her? Like what happened the previous go around, with us picking an option that "auspiciously" had us run into Anys Syn at just the right time to alert her of when her plan had gone off the rails.

Picking the Sword option might be a very strong contender if it ends up doing something like "letting us defend us (or our friends or teacher) against Anys Syn if/when she surprise-ambushes us."

Gah. Stupid paranoia...

[X] Night Time

Also, Resolute Flame needs to be silenced. We don't need him to talk to anybody, but mainly we need him to not speak to secret Anathema who over saw creation for thousand of years. Or who he believe to be the dragon.

If we can get Anys' plan out of Pearl, then we can prepare and not be blind sided by eldar Sidereals.

Mm, I would say it's more a matter of taking an action to buff yourself before moving on. Time is of the essence, so what is the best way to make use of your limited actions? If your actions are more effective, more likely to stave off catastrophic failure, how much is that worth? In the long run, it could be worth quite a lot!

Rihaku said:
Ivory was hadcore Bronze Faction, don't assume she'll be on your side without persuasion (though she is likely to come around given any reasonable amount of time). Also, by now her boss probably knows what's happened, and Anys is a lot stronger than she would be after burning half her permanent trait dots to beat Zao.
And that Rihaku post upside.

Yeah.
Sorry, I really want to take our birthright as Sesus, but seeing as we aren't the House Heir, it's not as good as subverting Ivory NOW.
Changing vote

Beside, our family was never there with us, even if it's, uh, a "deception".
But when the time comes, they'll support us, I bet on that.

He's been calling her Pearl for a while now in his mental dialogue.

You need Summoning the Loyal Steel to learn Glorious Solar Saber, I've heard.

Which you don't actually know at this point.

Zao and Ivory are right there, it wouldn't be difficult to just go talk to her. The only issue is that the conversation may turn involved, and end up taking a lot of time.

Eh, by that chain of logic any option could help Anys Syn somehow. Nighttime at least will probably directly address her, so it's still probably the best way to head any problems from her off at the pass.

and they sold Ulyssian to the Nellens for a pittance, IIRC.
Well, they're the best Dynast for him, since they were THE mortal-friendly house, but stilll
We would have been a mortal marrying a Dragonblood heir of a major house. We have met and are friends with the heir already and they are the most mortal friendly house. By the standards of their society this is a really fucking good deal for him. This is literally the best possible deal he could get by the social rules of the realm.

Indeed. In a way, it demonstrates that the higher-ups were at least not totally oblivious to Ulyssian's surprising capacity. Either that or Nellens just completely outmaneuvered them. Either way, don't understimate... somebody!

IDK we've been author alerted that the family time option has more than meets the eye, compared to last time, and may head off something troublesome. They're only there for this tournament after all, and the other options are less likely to leave (though to be fair Family may try to take us with them, given recent events).

[X] Family Time

The others aren't going anywhere, and we dumped a bunch of XP into making one of the options already have a friendly predisposition to us, may as well head off the other option for potential trouble right off.

... Zao for Secret True Ruler of the Realm!

Being Shogun Feng's successor counts for a lot in Dynast politics.

"So what've you been up to in the last five thousand years since I died?"
"Well, I died, for one."

I'm kinda afraid that Family Time might result in them wanting to see our Anima. While putting off the meeting might make them like us less, it does give us more time to marshal our resources to make our disguise even stronger.
