[Exalted, ?] Most High

My biggest complaint is two fold - we're trying to be clever in front of a whole host of people who would be extremely happy to kill us, considering what they just witnessed, and if successful there, it's just a matter of time before things blow up in our face anyway. Bluffing the people we have to bluff is going to be ridiculous, and we're under intense scrutiny at a minimum.

So we take that into account. We grab what we can while we can. I never envisioned disguise to last for more than a few days, a week at most. It was always just an opportunity to grab resources and allies which the other two options does not provide.

With Zao running interference we can have enough freedom to do what we need to do then get out.

In hindsight Pearl should've seen this coming. It was well known that she and [xxx] were the closet to Odyissial besides Lea. Of course their fellows would've planned to ensure that they would not be able to warn him. As she and [xxx] raced to Odyissial's domain. Several of the usurpers' forces intercepted them.

She and [xxx] together might have been able to beat them all but the effort would allow more forces to come and thus prevent them from reaching Ody. Thus one had to stay behind and stall for time.

Given that she was older and currently
more powerful she elected to stay. Knowing that this would be her end. She performed phenomenally in her self-appointed task holding them back as she slew scores of the traitors. Even as more came, she would not let any pass her. Even as a day went, even as she exhausted her essence stores, even as her body started to breakdown from strain and wounds she did not stop. Even as she laid in a pool of her own blood surrounded by the corpses of the fallen and as an entire legion of dragon blooded prepared to finish her she spat at them. Defiant until the end
Just as he would've been in her situation.

"Heh Ody was such a bad influence on me." She said wistfully as her death approached. As her last moments went by she suddenly remembered a conversation between her and Ody from long ago.

"There's always an end." She had said to him

"Not always." was his reply. At the time she had merely dismissed it as Ody being Ody

Yet as she laid there dying she felt herself wanting to believe. Wanting to believe in him.

"Ody." She said softly. That was her last word as her vision went dark.

At the same time

Odyissial frowned as he stopped his latest adjustments to the Infinite Singularity Husk. Something was off.

Odyissial! Two female voices cried out in an urgent tone.

He turned around.

Lea, [xxx] what's wrong? He asked as he saw the distressed look on [xxx]'s face and the serious one on Lea.

"The Siderael's and Dragonblooded are launching a rebellion against the Deliberative! As soon as we heard, Pearl and I rushed here but we were intercepted. Pearl [xxx] eyes were downcast and Odyissial felt a long forgotten feeling. One he had not felt since the day he had Exalted.

"Pearl stayed behind to stall them. That was a day ago she would never betray you so she was no doubt... [xxx] continued

"Killed." He said quietly. Inside Odyissial could feel it. The anger, the Fury he held during the war. The flames of rage which had gone out in the millennia since then were suddenly reignited and burned bright as ever.

The traitors would be eradicated. None of them would survive. Even their very existence would be gone. Nothing would be left.

Nothing.

In the age of Sorrow at the Arena of the Naval Academy.

Sad Ivory openly gaped. Ulyssian had finally Exalted but it was not as a Dragon blooded but as a Celestial. A Solar even.

She felt strangely conflicted. One hand everything she had been taught said she should kill him at the first chance she gets. On the other, Ulyssian was her student and she honestly enjoyed his presence. He's always felt strangely familiar to her but she never could quite understand why.

Yet as she looked at him glowing in the glory of the exaltation, she felt that feeling even stronger then before as if it were a sight she had seen thousands of times before.

Ulyssian's gaze turned towards her and she felt her heart stop. That gaze. Those eyes filled with power, confidence, and surety that eclipsed anything she had seen in her life. What's more she could see that he had changed. That he wasn't simply Ulyssian anymore.

Yes as she looked at him she swore she could see another man. Older but he looked just like Ulyssian and he held the same gaze. That man was

"Ody." She said softly without any conscious control. As if another had taken over her body. Strangely she didn't feel horrified at the thought.

Ulyssian's eyes widened before a smile appeared on his face.

Despite being confused as to where the name Ody came from and why she had referred to Ulyssian as such. Ivory found herself smiling back.

"There's always an end." A maiden had once said.

"Not Always." Was the answer her companion had given her.

"He always did find a way." Another female's voice echoed in Ivory's head. A voice that was both a complete stranger and one she had known all her life. The woman's voice was filled with affection.

"Yes he always does." Ivory agreed with the voice.

"He always does."

807 words

Now Fairest was the one who warned Odyissial of the Usurpation. I wondered how Fairest managed to escape Fivescore fellowship taking out the Siddies that wanted to help the Solars. Then I remembered Pearl and how she died during the Usurpation.

So in my mind Learl went out making sure Fairest( we don't know her real name yet so I referred to her as xxx.) would be able to warn Odyissial. As a veteran of the Primordial Warc and one of the few people close to Odyissial Pearl was no doubt a major badass and thus would've gone down swinging.

Also I imagined that part of the Reason Odyissial would've wrecked the Usurpation's shit harder then canon besides being warned and advantages
over his canon self was Pearl's death put him back into Primordial war mode. Turned him back into that rage filled, calculating killing machine who with his army beat the shit out of the Primordials and their allies.

Trust me when I say the survivors of his wrath were forever traumatized by what they had seen him do.

Then we're in the age of sorrows as Ivory meets Ulyssian and there's something about him that draws her to him. Something subconsciously calling her to him.

Now we're at the Arena and Ivory has witnessed second breath of Ulyssian/ the rebirth of Odyssial and as she looks on at his glory her spirit her being suddenly remembers even if her current self does not yet and is filled with joy as her old friend proved he was right when he said there isn't
always an ending.

That's right not only did Odyissial tell Death fuck you. Pearl did the same.
Following Odyissial just as she had done when she first met him.

I'm all for that and hope thats the direction that it ends up taking, but the vote there is gonna be split on that option and Realm Dynast, which has some draw (and hilarious implications if we were able to pull it off).

Not really. There is shit all anyone can do against a Solar who has authorized command of the Sword.

King of the ashes comes to mind.

Edit: NTM not really having anywhere to go from there. You leave and die, you stay and are holding the realm hostage, but without a real end goal other than "I should be the one in charge." It's an incredibly drastic move.

Not technically true. They can attempt to sabotage the network of war manses that channel and project the Sword's power, although you'd need a coordinated strike to really be effective, and even that wouldn't take the Sword offline completely. It's very likely the counterstroke would destroy any organized center of resistance.

Basically, you can fight someone with the Sword, as the existence of Lookshy demonstrates. It's just that the tactics include running to the edge of the world, mounting a campaign of guerrilla warfare, and praying really hard.

The Problem is that the Empress had limited control over it. In contrast, we are a Solar on the authorized user list. People on the Blessed Isle can't really fight us.

Yeah but what's your endgame even if you have control of the grid? There's no purpose to it other than having the biggest stick, damn the consequences.

Taking the world hostage by controlling the Sword is just setting yourself up to be the endgame antagonist. Even then a Sidereal strike team may decide "eh it's worth it" and kill you regardless of consequences to the rest of Creation (would you even push the buttons?). Who blinks first?

It's hard to say how much control over it she did or didn't have. She had enough power to throw back the Balorian Crusade (though Balor had, admittedly, already been assassinated), to project her image basically anywhere in the world, and conjure up natural disasters basically at will. In 3E I think the Sword is being modeled through Evocations, and Dragon-Blooded are second only to the Solars in that department.

Something worth noting is that Flame should be suffering some heavy wound penalties and be almost out of motes after the beatdown Moon gave him, killing him would probably only require one good hit.

You know, it'd be kind of funny if it turns out Resolute Flame was our old (female) Dragon Blooded lieutenant, and his sister was the one that hated our guts.
So she Reincarnated to play a role all to help her old master Exalt in the Age of Sorrows? Truly, she is faithful even in death and beyond. o7
...Okay, that seems to be in line with his previous feats. And yeah, when I think about it, succesfully resurrecting without access to the Third Circle by himself supports that claim quite well. Still, I want to reach it this time around. Then we can add another snazzy title to the already long list. In addition to all the other ones we will be grabbing. :D
New title "Peerless Beyond Sorcery But-Got-It-Anyway":p
Well. You know. You gotta get that 100% Completion playthrough.

For Flame and our anima, is there anything we can do that would make him doubt his memories/senses? After all, what is more likely, that we Exalted as an Anathema, or that he interpreted what he saw wrongly, especially if something occurs to make it more ambiguous.

Yeah we need to grab the necessary resources as soon as possible. Preferably getting the descendants of our dragon blooded legions before booking it to the East to meet up with Lea. Should probably go and let Fairest know we're back on the way to Lea.

Then if all goes well, we can have two Siddies one of which should be the most powerful Sidereal alive considering she escaped the Wracking and is from before the Usurpation( hell she might even be allowed into heaven considering she fled during the Usurpation.), A sane and Affectionate Lea who is an Elder Lunar from the Primordial War, a celestial tier dragon blooded in Moon, Zao the last Shogun and an extremely
powerful dragonblooded, Nilul an infernal (she should be happy to know that being Odyissial means the Yozi are scared shitless of us and thus less likely to fuck with us), Hero if we can get him to not freak over the "Anathema thing, our legions of loyal dragonblooded descendants, whatever resources we gave to Lea before dying and our Accursed stuff. We would just need an Abyssal and an Alchemical to round out our exalted types.

With our companions at our side and both our forces and resources regained we will be ready to announce to all That Odyissial is back,
better than before AND HE IS READY FOR ROUND 2 MOTHERFUCKERS!!!

The reactions will be worth their weight in orichalcum.

Then it's simple from there.

1. Re establish our dominance in the world.

2. Kick major ass on our route to saw creation.

3. Finish the ISH.

4. Rewrite reality and create our golden forever.

5. Retire in our paradise and start a family with our harem.(Given it was the first age and how it was already suspected, there is the possibility that we knew our sidereal compatriots in the biblical sense. Again Lea is sane, affectionate, a 1st age Lunar, and specializes in seduction. She would have no problems with more partners and is more likely to bring others in then we are. On second thought it would be her harem but technicalities.)

It'll be a piece of cake! :p

I agree with this. If we can't get rid of him now we should at least get dispose of him later when the opportunity arrives or simply make the opportunity happen.
Yeah, I am not a big fan of Flame in general and would cheerfully toast his ignominious demise, but we can't touch him now. It'd be too suspicious. Still, just because vengeance must be deferred, does not mean it must denied entirely. While Ulyssian is the sort of person who won't abandon those who have been true to him, that long memory cuts both ways in the case of his enemies...

Using his next life to master a skill he neglected in his last? Yep that's Ody/Uly.

Since disguise seemingly will win what is the plan to actively fool the dragon blooded and to get around the scrunity so we can gather allies as resources.

Remember Zao is going to be hard pressed to save us. Thankfully Ivory will help out but Anys still is a problem. Hoping Ivory will tell us about her so we can plan for her.

How long do we plan to disguise ourselves because the longer we keep up the charade the more likely people will notice discrepancies or we'll be put
in a situation where we have to reveal our true nature.

We need to have a contingency to book it in case things go wrong. Though Zao, Ivory and maybe Nilul should be able help out on that regard

It seems to come down to:

Use Ody's knowledge of anima banners to alter his own banner to resemble a fire aspect.

Blind Flame with the remains of his melted sword.

Keep his back to the crowd while fighting Flame, when that is not possible use Flame's body to block line of sight so that the crowd can't see his caste mark.

Rely on Zao to provide environmental effects to further obscure vision in the arena.

So guys, what do you think is the craziest power grab you can see us doing in this quest?

Personally? Figuring out a permanent Unity of the Closed Fist with the rest of the Solar Exaltations.

Commandeering the Daystar, and jury-rigging it to go find Autochthon. I don't have a real reason to do so, but that was something I always wanted to see done. Hell maybe we do that to get the secrets of the Exaltation (Odyssial Exalts?) to lead to other tricks. Beyond the impossible is his shtick.
