Esquestria: The House of the Sun - A pony cultist experience

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Dear reader! Whether you are new here, archive-reading and whatnot, or you are already someone who has been with us for quite a while, I would like to say a few words that I believe are best kept close to mind.

-This is an MLP quest. And more importantly, none of us are gratuitously cruel. So good things will happen on this quest, and I hope that enough good things have already happened to prove that.
-This is also a horror quest, so bad things will happen. Bad things might happen to good characters if you are not able to protect them, and you most certainly will not be able to intervene if you lack the tools to do so.
-And finally, this is a quest in which you jostle with powers greater than yourself, with all that it entails.

Please, do keep those things in mind as you go forward. But ultimately, this is also a quest in which it is hoped we all have fun! So if any of the above points is not exactly your cup of tea, or somehow make the experience as a whole "not worth it", then this quest might not be for you. Which is fine! Individual tastes are a thing, so don't think any more about it if you don't want to read anymore. And regardless, I hope you have a lovely day!

PSA for whoever needs to hear it:

Readers should take their own mental health into consideration when voting and not subject themselves to triggering narrative elements like rape or constant mental torture of a friend just for the Greatest Good of a world that doesn't exist.

If those are fine for you or Regrettable is even more triggering, then GREAT! More power to you. But you aren't a bad or selfish person for picking the option that keeps the characters you've emotionally connected with safe. [REDACTED for spoiler warning]

This is a high intensity quest that doesn't hold back when it comes to horror and negative consequences. Take care of yourself.

The coupling is not an issue on that front, at least. The Crime in the Sky is to produce a child between two immortals, so... we don't check any of the boxes.
MLP has already had impossible children in canon. More just thinking about what it could have been.
Rarity's a grown woman, and Spike—in this continuity at least—was very much a child. He had a crush on her, yes, but it was the same kind of crush a middle-schooler would have on his teacher.

Maybe, maybe after all of canon and the better part of a decade had passed and he grew up it would have been relevant, but not any time soon.
I'm not saying that he would have prevented Rarity from being with Velvet, but he is pretty passive aggressive at times in the show and Rarity had a habit of stringing him along. Could have been awkward whenever we'd be around him, and maybe a malus with Twilight.

Not exactly relevant anymore though.

SV: "Velvet is a respectable married mare! She would never do something reproachable against her relationship with Stormchaser!"

"Oh really? Show me."

SV: (Begins to sweat profusely.)

Because a 52/29 voting result is indeed telling. But hey, there's still more than one third who almost went for it eh?

:V

Also, shame I don't have an excuse to post this anymore. This was going to be my celebratory post if the other option had won.

And jokes aside, hope you're all well! We know the drill. Now we wait.

And here's the issue with vague options—not to complain or anything, just clarifying—but if it had been completely clear what we were voting for, I never would have taken it. I stand by my vote as I believed it, but from what I can tell I simply did not understand what it would do. I'm glad there are so many people who saw clearer.

And honestly, a fair few of the people who vocalized their reasons seemed to agree.

I now regret changing my mind, as I did in fact read it correctly the first time.

It was kinda obvious?

I thought it was anyway. But these things can be opaque I suppose.

I'll just clarify that, before this spires out of control, that was a joke.

The other option implied other things, and the "???" was not "Velvet and Rarity did it! Your marriage is ruined! Time for a 180 degree shift in character!"

In fact, since I will not tell what the "???" implied, you can take it that it does not mean that. So don't worry.

(Can't even make a joke in the server, damn WoG, mumble mumble grumble grumble)

At first it was—if still with enough wiggle room to doubt—but when asked to clarify Bird's response was "Velvet has a plan that takes into account her opinions on love and affection". Apparently, Velvet cares a lot less about those things than I thought—

Well, never mind then. Come on, Bird, we've had enough controversial votes by now, you should at least have learned to be a little clearer on your jokes. :V

But at least I can be happy that my judgement on Velvet's character wasn't so extremely off.

...I really REALLY have to watch that pilot episode. Did they ever make a sequel?

...I feel the need to point out that we were NOT voting for Velvet (probably), but for Rarity, so it would have been on her, not us!

...except Velvet was trying pretty hard to seduce her...

...and had engineered the perfect situation for it...

...oh, fuck it. Ok, yeah, the song WOULD have definitely been apt. You happy?!

...Bird, you can't do this to me! I need to know what the ??? was!

You, uh, realize that's the spin-off that got a full season, with the second currently in production and—iirc—nearly ready to air?

Helluva Boss, not Hazbin Hotel. Same setting and, I think, time period, but following a mostly different group of characters doing different things.

I learned recently that Vivzie is planning on doing Hazbin Hotel on one of the major platforms instead of Youtube. Which makes the Helluva Boss series sting a little less for me.

Don't know which platform yet, I've heard speculation that it'll be HBO but nothing confirmed.
EDIT: Probably HBO considering it's A24 that picked up the series, but no confirmation yet.

Ironically episode 1 of season 2 basically proved that false, trough stolas actually jump from a dumpsterfire for another dumpsterfire.

But yeah this tread steuggle with that mightly.

Next time could you add that in to the vote.

Because there was quite a bit of self-righteous fear-mongering based upon the idea that Velvet would do a sudden 180 degree shift in character and that just brought up a whole lot of salt into the vote.

I mean the doorframe is there to prove it.

But yeah this vote was a shitshow, between the salty, the horny, the frustrated, and the self righteousness on both sides...
Theres a reason i don't stay active here for extended periods of times.

Eh, it didn't really feel too bad? I mean, sure, there was some fraught discussion, but we've had far worse and the worst arguments I saw were unrelated to the vote itself. This was largely civil.

But maybe that's just me.

We CAN indeed vote for horrible things. And have done so.

There's a difference between voting for horrible things while clearly knowing that there horrible and voting based on the idea that Velvet's character is that of a rapist and that anybody who votes for an opposing option supports rape.

I personally found it pretty insulting.
