Emma Barnes, Princess (Worm/Princess the Hopeful Quest)

To be honest, accusing people of cheating puts a bad taste in my mouth...

buuuuuuut...

you've got to admit that more than one first time voter, each on a separate site, is a little... odd? Uncommon? Especially considering that those accounts were both made and voted just before the vote ended?

My shadowruns are tesselating...
Cooooould be a coincidence...

But it's definitely mighty suspicious.
And now you see why I HATE close votes.
My first thought when I saw GM rolling to break the tie was "oh god this is only gonna lead to bitterness."

What was it you said a couple pages ago? I'd rather lose by a landslide by than win by a milimeter? Except now its even worse than that :(

I don't bother checking voters, but I had to admit that I was worried if there would be such thing with how close its running and I have to agree with @DualFront that such thing would just be most unpleasant.

On the other hand, could be just that some people got attracted for a Princess game.
Oh excellent, the argument is over.

I hope?
well....

we can be hopeful

Personally, I like tension like this. Accusation game, on the other hand...

Yeah, this is not a fun feeling. It's kind of like that feeling when you get in trouble with a court, to me: I don't like it.

There's worry, knowledge that your case is in the hands of those who know more about what's going on than you do, a higher authority listening to what's happening and who you've got to convince, and the possibility that there's not any foul play at all and we're just grabbing on to the first fishy thing we see in unconscious desperation.

Here are the two fishy voters, for the record.

Hey, here's something else! These people both were "last seen" voting. As in they've got new accounts, they both made their first vote on the same quest for the same side in two different forums, and then they immediately logged off. They didn't do anything else, according to the site. They didn't go browsing, they didn't stick around the thread to watch reactions. They voted and then logged off in the same minute. Both of them. (At different times, that is)

Now, if the people behind them are here I don't expect that to last, so you guys should go check that it right now. It's rattling my Shadowrunning sensors.

The SB one logged on ten or so minutes ago, and immediately went to the second thread in the fiction section, so that record is gone now.

My main "problem" is that storms were winning at the time were the votes were supposed to close... Had Lord Ultimus instead said "vote closed, update delayed due to personal reasons", we would've had a Seraphic Princess.

Still, what's done is done and the vote is over now.

EDIT: Apparently hamburgler was an alt of Lord Ultimus.
Which confuses me, because "Turns out that I am uncomfortable/insecure about writing Choice X, can you please vote for something else?" is a completely legitimate thing to say.

Lets just await the update

Anything interesting in the arguments so far? I just skipped because it was getting too hot and bothered

I at least am out. The sock puppetry speaks of bad GMing and frankly makes me suspicious of the roll. Is there any way to check for newly established rooms other than blindfire guessing possible room names? Because otherwise the self done third party site roll speaks to me of wanting to rig the roll since he already demonstrated clear bias towards a particular outcome. The mirroring to QQ seemed odd but through the lens of paranoia it looks like he wanted a forum he could risk banning on if necessary to suit his needs. These aren't the sorts of accusations I'd usually levy but with the proof that he's trying to stack the vote at least one way makes me suspect him of using other means too.

If Hearts had won honestly I might've stayed around but this doesn't make me feel at all confident in Lord Ultimus as a person or story teller. His actions have ruined my ability to look at the quest without going full paranoia mode on the GM. He has broken the standard trust I give for the GM to actually be honest with the players. Explaining he realized he'd rather not do a Twilight Princess midway through likely would've caused some flame wars but this is utterly reprehensible.

This. exactly this.

if the GM had a problem with writing an extremist vigilante dark magical girl... why did he offer it as an option in the first place?

there's no way I can continue to follow this quest if the GM is willing to rig his own vote.

What the heck!?

I concur.

Should someone bring this to the attention of the mods at SB? I know that there was a suspicious vote over there as well.

I won't call it utterly reprehensible. Just a bit incomprehensible.

Like, I feel kinda like one of the characters in Scooby-Doo when it's revealed that the monster was really the kind old caretaker all along.
"But Mr. Ultimus, why?"

Said account has been pretty active since then, so I think it's a real one.

This situation piqued my curiosity, so I spent a few minutes running NetTally and collating the results, which were... interesting. There are perfectly legitimate potential explanations for the discrepancy, but I'll refrain from speculation and let @Lord Ultimus speak for himself. I'm curious exactly how he counted the votes.

Sour tastes all round and not the least which because my Spades vote didn't win :V Though honestly, quests that go cross-board tend to be a bit....wonky to start with when it comes to votes and tallying.
