:V Your deep roads expedition system is incredibly lethal and slow, so I'm just happy to get a win here honestly.

Acceptable losses, though honestly i think I should get some sort of bonus to this roll considering I breezed through all the steps.

Hired them yeah.
I know. You should have seen the old system. It was harder, required named characters, and had no modifiers.

But a +85 is just ridiculous, and you are descending into the depths of the Deep Roads to fight a horde of darkspawn for the ancient secrets of Dwarvenkind. It shouldn't be easy.

That's why I'm just going to kill the darkspawn now I have golems.

You should have kept the named characters for the dwarves, as a balance for them starting off with a shitton of modifiers from the get. It fits with their nobility/elitism complex.

It wasn't terrible, it was hard, and that was the point.

I agree. I wouldn't have felt the need to boost my modifier so high if the system wasn't brokenly difficult to begin with.

The ability to boost it so high is a large issue. The system is supposed to be luck based at its core, as a sister of the Valyrianaire system. I commend Theravis for his hard work in the games he makes, but fuck if he likes to overly complicate shit with unnecessary maths for systems. Narrative is always the way to go. GM fiat keeps games running regardless of any situation, math just complicates things.

He's already identified this issue and placed a cap on how much you can boost.

I was busy making a super-complicated plans to get my dwarves to Ferelde to investigate the Ortan Thaig for clues on golems before Theravis rolled out the expedition system. :V

I support the die system as a DnD player. That said, agree there needs to be amodifier cap.

I would say I'd like to see a full post with all the numbers and required die rolls for actions.

Theravis may or may not roll dies for actions as the whim strikes him. The only actions that explicitly require rolls are expeditions, whose system is completely outlined in the relevant threadmark.

You say terrible, I say acceptable. Obviously as dwarves you're biased, but the point is that expeditions are supposed to generally not end with the levels of success you've found. PCGW has plot armor. You don't.

Those plans would have been sick.

I don't think this is something that's high priority though.

Understandable. I'm a DnD Numbers guy so I'm always more inclined to min/maxing. Good stuff though

I hate that fight's guts.
First day, they come and catch everyone.
Second day, they beat us and eat some for meat.
Third day, the men are all gnawed on again.
Fourth day, we wait and fear for our fate.
Fifth day, they return and it's another girl's turn.
Sixth day, her screams we hear in our dreams.
Seventh day, she grew as in her mouth they spew.
Eighth day, we hated as she is violated.
Ninth day, she grins and devours her kin.
Now she does feast, as she's become the beast.
Now you lay and wait, for their screams will haunt you in your dreams.

Who are these people?

Look up Chateau Haine. It's owned by the Orlesian Montfort family, and they have seasonal Wyvern hunts there. It's their summer home.

Can I push rocks down on all these decadent toffs and take their jewels and whatnot?

Yes. Both real and euphemistic jewels.
