Disciples of Red Dew Sect (Cultivation Riot Quest)

Pan Tingfeng laboured for days, wait... weeks(?!) around the kitchens refining his recipe. It appears that the Sect has sufficient sticky rice balls to for people to become sick of them.
But the last few batches produced some with perfectly balanced Qi. More than Pan Tingfeng could have hoped for. When one has achieved a great success, there is only one thing that can be done.

@CedeTheBees
Pan Tingfeng ran half way around the Sect compound three times before he learnt that Gan Jia has joined the mission to the Five Herbs Garden.
He leaves a wrapped serving of Midwinter Coals for Gan Jia when they return, while wondering what new herbs they might return with.

@Floom
Pan Tingfeng has no problems finding Wuyin. He simply had to follow the trail of blood spots and people hiding from shadows (instead of in).
He hands Wuyin one of the fresh Midwinter Coals and is quickly mauled by Tien, who is surprised to discover that Pan Tingfeng has now achieved Jade Body and does not bleed easily, even with vigorous chewing.

@rush99999
Pan Tingfeng was a bit disappointed that his enthusiastic cheering didn't seem to help Hanyi Huoshui enough in the tournament, but he quickly presents him with some Midwinter Coals as a conciliation prize. At least once the medical disciples had given him a quick check.

@Abyssius
Liang Xinyue's mastery of fire and ash has Pan Tingfeng too overawed to cheer at times, but he makes up for it by presenting him with an extra prize for achieving third place in the tournament.

@KreenWarrior
Pan Tingfeng catches Zise Ren when he is returning from the Ancient Devil Forest carrying a huge pile of artifacts. Since his friend appears to have no spare hands, he slips a delicious smelling packet into one of Zise's pockets.

+1 Midwinter Coals (Clay Spiritual Meal) for each of you.

Pan Tingfeng has 1 spare Midwinter Coals (Clay Spiritual Meal) which can be purchased for 4 Spirit Stones.

A group of disciples proceeded to venture towards the direction of the Red Dew Sect in order to hunt the Cobbletrap Spider that has been making trouble for some of the outer disiciples travelling towards the Red Dew Sect to interact and hopefully come across eggs to turn in to the Supply Hall if not keep for themselves. The disciples however came across the diplomatic group of their allied sect and after some exchanges they found out the the Cobbletrap Spider ended up being turned into a roasted meal just the few nights ago by the groups' guardian elder. Still, it seems like the trip wasn't wasted as the other sect's disiciples managed to procure said eggs as it just so happens one of them almost ended becoming the deceased spider's snacks if not for said elder earlier. Abi Uy however managed to 'procure' whatever was left of the Cobbletrap Spider for her own use though the Heavens didn't seem to approve of it as well as that of the elder watching over the Red Dew Sect judging by a moment's sideglance to her.

->Everyone: +1 Cobbletrap Spider Egg and +60 Spirit Stones to each Disciple due to pity for the trouble.
->SkyWoman: +7 Peasant Low Clay Grade Natural Treasure, -7 Karma, the Red Dew Sect's Elder Mei's 'attention'.

->NotExpectingYou
WTF. REALLY QM? All six of us had to grind the last few turns/months to procure a pair of Peasant Clay Sword and Armor for this hunt mission? Well, at least we got some eggs that we can either turn in to the Supply Hall for merits or get ourselves a companion. It's at least a good alternative for WoeIsYou for not being able to procure a Shadow Panther somewhat... Wonder if we can make silk stuff from them after they get big enough?

->MagicBacker
Don't worry, wait till the end.

->SkyWoman
Uh, that -7 Karma is a thing. Wonder if it'll be an issue... nah, the sky's the limit! Now I got materials to try making those forbidden stuff!

->CrookOfAMan
Right, right, now about that karma my dear student and the unneeded 'attention': we ought to talk in the Correction Room. Go, now!

Most of the Outer Disciples of the Five Herbs Garden however prepared for alchemy competition within their sect in a few month's time. Thus this month most of them went to read the books, some actually going as far as making various Peasant Elixirs and Pills though their quality varied in the Clay-grade with the least being Mid Quality Clay Grade and hitting the Copper-grade via Low Quality for a few certain disciples who worked together. The previous results would have been a bit lower if not most of them being for naught if not for one of the disciples from Red Dew Sect by the name of Gan Jia. Somehow much more knowledgeable compared with the new batch of Outer Disciples of the Fiver Herb Garden Sect concerning herbs and plants, the soon-in-the-future alchemists and medicine makes of the Five Herbs Garden managed to at gain a lot of information about certain more obscured flore nearby the Red Dew Sect.

-> Everyone: Every disciple gets three pills and six elixirs of the Peasant Realm(roll 1d9 for how many of them are High Quality Clay Grade). +1d2 Progress for Five Herbs School Tech (excess are turned to Insights of your choice), +1/3 Red Dew Flora.
-> 'Floral Tenders': Each of you get a Low Quality Copper-grade Peasant Pill and two Low Quality Copper-grade Peasant Elixir.

->Afebma
Wow! That's a lot of meds! Though finally progress on the School Tech! No need to ask for our Senior Disciples for lessons! /s

->A Lassie
Granted Disiciple you lot (aka almost all of you!) didn't really attend CrookOfAMan's lesson on the quest's earlier turn due to wanting to do stuff. If not for MagicBacker changing the system to allow cultivation rolls to happen already without commiting an action...

->The Fly Who Runs
Meh, what could the worse that could happen? Well, other than one time where we almost critically failed the festival thingy and only managing to get it to a bare success I guess? Still, I'm curious what our sect's technique do now that a few of us have it out and about...

->MagicBacker
It gives +1 success concerning or involving 'herbs' and the likes. Yes, a +1 success meaning if you guys have learn it early on those wasted pills no the earlier turns being made wouldn't have been so wasted even though the other Elders clearly advised you all early on.

->Whoosh
Oof. That's.. yikes. And I was too busy finding a companion (aka pet friendo!) since companions are rather busted. I mean, do you guys recall the few disciples from Red Dew Sect that came about? Sheesh, those hidden rolls with the +2 to the die! That's not really a lot but it jumps the success rate on rolling a die from 6 down to 4, from 50% success to 70% success. Almost a ~1.5x change for the success!

->SashaIsSorrowful
I mean we clearly didn't know then since this is a xianxia setting Chaos quest, most of us gunning for the tech options or other +1 stat buff. Though those techies will really want to get the school tech up and running since that enables their own techs so that's something.

->Sun Rabbit
The next part early spoiler IC should be posted soon! That's concerning the diplo and trade right? Well, I'm more interested about almost all of us going for the 'exchange pointers' option so I'm curious how we fare compared with the Red Dew Sect's disicples! They're probably still cultivating their Eyes and Lungs right? We already have someone with Passionate Heart for the +2 Dice and a Companion (*coughcough*me*coughcough*) not to mention I finally got a High Quality Iron Peasant Sword to boot! Nothing could ever go wrong here! Wonder if those twins will be there? They were, or are still?, a good source of EXP and Insights previously for most of our crafters and hobbyists!

->MagicBacker
Lol. Lmao even.

->Spacious.
Wait, what does that mean A Great Hand In The Sky?!
->Everyone

All of the new batch of Outer Disciples (aka you guys) have decided to also focus on the diplomatic/trade party from Red Dew Sect. Having already mete Elder Mei for some of them that managed to get his attention, whether the good or 'bad', as well as having met Gan Jia and the unfortunate Yu Siyuan that was spared being spider chow, the main attraction was the 'exchange of pointers' and giving of souvenirs to one another. Despite the Five Herbs Garden Sect being mostly composed of those wanting to be pill makers, farmers and the likes, there were some who were of the more.. 'barbaric' ways of the sect. Thus some of the disciples after the 'pleasantries' proceed on challenging them.

..despite the Red Dew Sect being diminished due to the recent war that took its toll amongst their members, perhaps one would rather think that's the end of a sect. That, sadly, isn't the case.

*OOC: Insert elaborate rolls here that I may or may not come back to later just like that I did the spar between the twins' back then... A lot, but we're notably after:

5 Herb Group (High Quality Iron Sword) versus Changjian Clique #1 5 Herb Group wins!
5 Herb Group (High Quality Iron Sword) versus Changjian Clique #2 (High Quality Copper Sword) 5 Herb Group wins with some injuries!*

The next sequence of events couldn't really be called a spar but more akin of a one-sided beatdown, the Outer Disiciples now came to learn that the Changjian Twins, Meinu and Meilu were slowly growing to be 'fairies' one would think of in storybooks. The two fought together even against the whole of the battling group that challenged what seemed to be known as the Changjian Clique. Unsheathing High Quality Perfect Peasant-realm Swords, they quickly knocked down their opposition and the few that managed to stand upright due to finally being able to harness the elements of their Spiritual Roots were then greeted by a pale light that coated both twins' swords.

*OOC: More number rolling here. The inspiration to this wild tidbit is due to a random thought: '...you know, I'm a bit curious but has anyone did a Negavere of a Riot Quest before...?' and well, this happened. The rolling is inspired by a rather dead xianxia sect numbers quest in SB (though I do keep coming back to it whenever it pops up along with one Pokemon quest that I wonder when it will be updated) so yeah! *

*Round 1: 5 Herb Group (High Quality Iron Sword) versus Changjian Twins (High Quality Perfect Sword x2). Changjian Twins win flawlessly!*
*Round 2: 5 Herb Group (Wood, Water, Earth) versus Changjian Twins (Lunar x2). Changjian Twins win flawlessly!*
*Round 3 is skipped due to 5 Herb Group being unable to battle already!*

*OOC: Think that both combatants have 3 HP. Winning makes it you deal '1 HP' to the other, and doing so flawlessly means you deal '2 HP' instead. Yada-yada more modifiers in the future but MagicBacker here haven't really revealed much of the combat system of his in this Negaverse. And when that 3 HP becomes negative rather than 0? Well. :V The battle is actually going to be a 'Body, Spirit, and Fortune' kind of thing but Perfect Sword giving additional die is BS and Lunar... well, let's just say the spar just so happened to occur during a visible moon phase. :V*

The aftermath ended, most of the students injured, but not crippled of course!, and the twins proceeded to then help tend the Outer Disciples that dared challenge their Clique and quickly learning that the one 'pretty flowers' on the previous visit became so much more. Their music, performance since they now including singing that seemed.. ancient for some reason. It seems to have calmed and eased some of the injuries the unruly disicples received.

Then the long-awaited souvenir exchange came to be, and much to the disicples' surprise, it was the Changjian Clique that brought certain High Quality Clay Natural Treasures that are of the Red Dew Sect's Speciality Products and 'lo and behold, a High Quality Copper Natural Treasure in the form of a herb seed that the somehow managed to procure! The month afterwards came to an end just like that, much to the amusement of both Sects' Elders.

->Everyone: 7 High Quality Clay Natural Treasures of your choice (check Red Dew Sect info post: only x2 each specialty, go nuts), 1d2+1 Combat Insights, 1d2 Support Insights. Those that participated in the 'spar' are Injured.

*OOC: Insert MagicBacker explaining the Injury system here!*

->A High-Quality Copper Seed. It seems to emanante a certain... Qi similar to what the Chanjian Twins harnessed.

->CrookOfAMan: 'Clique', huh? That's not really a word you expect to use in a xianxia setting... since it's more... modern. Is one of them, if not both from...?
->A Lassie: I have so many questions on what's happening in Red Dew Sect, and I'm an Elder! Can we nab these twins MagicBacker? Student, or rather Disciples, Exchange in this case?
->MagicBacker: Good luck getting past the Sect Mistresses. Well, the one not breaking through anyway at the moment and even then once that happens... Oak: ..wait, what? Wasn't there paperwork involved though?
->MagicBacker: ..no comment?
->MagicBacker: Rather short update. Yes, you can plant it. Yes, that means the twins' gave you a renewable resource provided you care for it. No, I am not spoiling what kind of plant pops out of it. You can already guess though it's more of a freak accident due to certain events just somewhat aligning.
->Oak: Lunar Qi. How the hell did these two get it? Hell, one would make sense but two at the same time?

@HousePet

"Thank you! But I will have to kindly refuse, as I am currently at the peak of cultivation for the Peasant Realm! So I sadly cannot make use of the spiritual meal you have kindly given me! If I may suggest, would you be willing to offer this meal to one of our newer disciples? I remember the first few months starting out, and it can be terribly rough, so any aid to those of us starting out in the Sect would be greatly appreciated!"

Wuyin leans in conspiratorially and whispers the last part of her little spiel:

"... And it means that everyone will be able to train Passionate Heat a bit faster! So says the Giant Hand in the Sky..."

@Zedalb
At Wuyin's suggestion, Pan Tingfeng seeks out a new disciple who could use a spare spiritual meal. However, his efforts bare no fruit, not even a vegetable.
But then a senior disciple lends a hand by directing him to a new disciple who has been diligently training to learn the diabolical Red Dew School Technique.
Pan Tingfeng gifts Zao Zao the last of the Midwinter Coals (Clay Spiritual Meal).

Turn 11: Perfection
[X] Instruction from a Senior Disciple: Red Dew Technique (Free)

Cultivation: Heart
Meticulousness is his watch word.

It isn't enough to be good.
It isn't enough to be solid.

One must obtain perfection in cultivation.
But what is perfection?

It is the absence of flaws.

So one must be Meticulous and remove every flaw in their cultivation and in their technique.
It is an act of care and precision to eradicate weakness in his form.

He knows the name of less than a half dozen people in the sect. One could mistake him for being a recluse or anti social. The truth though is that he sees the height of the mountain in front of him. The path to greatness is a million steps and hard work lets him take them just a little bit faster.
Cultivation aids could help him along that path but he is a nobody from a nothing family without a single coin to his name.

Yet he finds himself gifted with his first cultivation aid because of his Meticulousness. He thanks Pan Tingfeng with a bow so precise and language so carefully chosen it feels like an example of manners and courtesy. A suspicious or rude person might claim that Zao Zao is actually a golem meant to be an example of a disciple more than a person.

He enjoys the meal but he eats it privately directly before cultivating seeking the make the most of it and do all the can to temper his lungs. As in all things he is meticulous in his use of cultivation resources.
