Deep Red (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

I did have a plan, but I hesitated and reconsidered due to the extreme reader backlash after the cliffhanger. There was even more extreme backlash after I tried writing something I hadn't originally planned on, and I ended up deleting that. Now I'm not sure where to go with this.
Was this backlash to the deleted post? Or was it backlash to the one thats up? Because unless it was a fiction live thing the only backlash I saw was people who where terrified by the cliffhanger not because of the actions surrounding it.

It seemed the backlash was directed everywhere, because people were mad salty about not being able to change canon in any way whatsoever, despite all the changes already made to canon. (Because it doesn't count if anything is even slightly the same, I guess? Zuko's different relationship with his family and quest doesn't count, he still left. Closer ties to the colonies through Kori doesn't count, the war is still going the way Ozai dictates. Azula being in a very different headspace doesn't count, because she's not in the first season, I guess?)

Also, a teenage princess should be in charge of the war effort. Also, it's bad that we weren't more horribly scarred by things, even though Akane's enough of a perfectionist for it to bother her at least as much. Then there were the people complaining about the people complaining about the people complaining, and... yeah.

It was on flive, though.

Also - Ozai wasn't by your bedside in the deleted post, he just made time to see you later that evening.
*points* "He does care! He made time to see us! Aww." I remembered not reading about servants waiting on Akane nor her reflecting in an empty room for some time so either he has very good timing or he woke Akane up somehow.

Cool not my problem then. Kosm you should just write for us. We're cool about stuff like that and not at all salty.

;) I think I fooled them

I personally saw no problem with what happened (the deleted chapter was the first thing I've ever read on flive), I hope this isn't the case of a minority's ruining something.

Looking forward to whatever happens next and hope Kosm can recover, after blitzing through this I have faith :)

I'm personally fine with whatever consequences come of it. I fully support Kosm in giving realistic consequences for whatever comes of it.

Wait, was the bit with Ozai ranting at Akane while she's recovering deleted? I must've missed that.

Yeah, then worked into the new update again. Live seems like it'll wind down in the coming hours, I think? So we'll see how this all gets hashed out.

I guess this thread ends up being a good mark of when an update is "canon" if we're running into enough chat salt to retcon things. (Which we still are, sadly. Chat is frustrating a lot of the time, and sometimes aggressively rude.)

Sounds frustrating for the chat voters if the things they vote for can just disappear like that.

It's partially related to the salt, but in this case the thing that was retconned was an update and then a vote after it, and that update disappeared, along with the vote, and the same scene occurred later in the revised version. So the readers were able to write in new options in response this time, and I think ultimately vote for a better argument.

It never got past the vote, so no update that they voted on was actually removed here.

Kosm retconned the beginning of a scene because she didn't like it.
Today, in live the only 'retcon' that happened was her removing a vote so that she could reprint it, just more clearly.

Of course. That makes it all the more bitter a pill to swallow, given how close a lot of the votes were :V

Well, it's been quite the night over at Deep Red HQ, hasn't it? Needless to say, some things got rather heated over there.
