Kings were at war for even less. And Green Bay or any other settlement we build is a target enough or are you telling me that no civ was in war of conquest in history.
You understand most wars of conquest are fought in the belief that they the aggressor can take land right? Claiming that the Maradysh can take our settlements is blatant fearmongering, it will take a long time for them to reach that point.

They have a Martial Hero, static defenses and cavalry, all advantages that we lack. But hey, don't worry, we'll still win, somehow.

And we have elite warriors while they have a newly trained force a fraction the size of our elite units. We have quantity and quality advantage and can just starve them out if we can't get over the palisade.

We were in situation where we fought war on multiple fronts just couple of turns ago so it's not.

Bad precedent is bad.

This doesn't tank our legitimacy and kind of reads like "whatever dude idc at this point" which is the mood right now.
I don't want to fight a martial hero and I don't want to recognize them. We can't win by interfering here.

Switching vote.
Not because of any of the reasons people stated so far.
But because this is one of the actions that might count towards our traits cons, namely taking actions that hurt our people. Its unnecessary to go to war if it means our people themselves are discontent with it. And considering its a trait it will cause more damage internally then whatever the enemy might do.

Changing vote again, i have no idea why you all are recognizing them when all we have to do is leave them be. If they take initiative to attack us it justifies war.

And we have a massive numbers advantage, the infrastructure to support professional warriors, magic and the most powerful gods we've seen in the setting. So yeah thats four to their three. We crushed them before, the fact that the hero advantage has reversed is enough to make it difficult and painful but we'll probably win again if it comes to a fight.

Expect that there are other regions and civs there don't let their polity go, once they conquer their region they will come in our and we will have to go to war only for Maradysh to strike us from the back.
Again with the pessimism. You assume far too much, gambling on cynical and fatalistic takes that surely, other civs will go to us and be conquerors.

There's no convincing you, then.
Should have never taken these guys in the first place. Don't care if this was luck screwing us over I just want to be rid of these guys.
No offense, but the line of thought of "I don't want them but now that I have the option, I will go and murder them and then have them back" is rather...dubious. If you want to rid of them, then surely the paltry sum of 2 Prestige and 1 Legitimacy point, the latter of which isn't even a downside for us to pay, would be a better deal than the:
1. Numerous stat loss incurred in the war, ones that requires us to replenish
2. The actions that we have to take on our strained action economy to wage the war
3. The other actions that we have to take in order to placate the Midlanders once we get them back to fold, unless you want them to be slaves, that is.

So, would you rid of them the simple bloodless route instead?

Revoting to add letting them be.

I personally worry that it may lead to the Maradysh to assume we aren't going to let them leave peacefully, but at least its not starting a dang war to keep the bastards.

It is the way history goes, Rome conquered Italy and then decided to go out.
England conquered British Isles and then moved out.
Persian empire united today Iran and then expanded outward.
Macedonian empire united Greece and decided to go out.

Every successful empire will move outside.

I'd rather not have another fucking war. If they go to war with us? Fine. But I'd rather not be the one who forces the Maradysh to be under ANOTHER tyranny or make them refugees once more.

Sure, we can probably crush them underfoot and reconquer them.

But think about it this way: Doing so will almost certainly more than undo what little inroads we managed to accomplish by trading with them. And the cycle will continue. Just cut them loose. They're a poisoned apple for us at this point. We aren't changing that anytime soon without taking more extreme measures. We can easily take the hit. Hell, the Legitimacy hit could even be argued to be good for our society!
