By the way @Oshha, did we fail the quest by the Elders and Priests to save the Merentir?
And did we get the double veneration from killing Vervov?

Yes and yes.

Not sure if you just did all that stat stuff behind the scenes in the last update or if it got cancelled by the change in leadership.

I sort of did. I decided that the average person wouldn't be happy with the fall of the Merntir, but would somewhat mollified by Vervov's death. The leadership and those involved in the war would be a lot more unhappy with what happened and throwing blame about. Hence Evalyn deciding a change in leadership was in order.

In other news, guess who rolled up a Martial Hero?

Curious about the innovations.
An unmentioned upside of them is that... our hero-queen is terrible at tech, so that's all we're gonna get for a while, most likely.

Perhaps traps? Why build a spiked wall they'll avoid, if you set spikes at the end of a deep hole?
Primitive squad tactics, maybe? Having separate leaders lead separate attacks on one force, coordinating between one another...
Or more theory in general. Maybe a way to use those spears in formation?
Hah, how about spear-throwers? An alternative to bows.
In other news, guess who rolled up a Martial Hero?
Noooooot another Vervooooooov.....

War of the Boar 2: Electric Boogaloo is a go folks. :V

Edit:
One of the techs that might make sense is something we took from our enemies, so pls give us boar cavalry :p

Wait...

rolls a dice

Okay, the Boarfolk also have a Martial Hero, but I was referring to the Merntir in my post.
This is going to be our, what, fifth Hero in two generations?
This is definitely an Epic Age if nothing else; that will be immortalized in songs and tales.

Counting the Boarfolk heroes that number goes up to at least seven.

Missed the discussion but I'm curious could we have had a situation similar to a Roman Republic Era Senate/Dictatorship system where the priests are in charge but when shit hits the fan they hand the reins to a military leader? Or do we not have the social concepts yet?

The Merntir got theirs via the good events table while the Boarfolk rolled one up due to a Value that makes them more likely to roll up a Martial Hero.
I gotcha, I'm totally not complaining or anything. An Epic Age should be fully or crazy events and historically amazing figures duking it out. :)

Wait, do you mean the Merntir refugees or the conquered-by-Boarfolk Merntir?
I doubt the Boarfolk overlords consider themselves to be part of the Merntir, so it is likely either Merntir refugees or a conquered Merntir rebellion of some sort.

Especially since Urth decided to join the party.

Can the Orcs, I dunno, upgrade their Hero or something?

Did they get a reward for conquering the Merntir?

Their reward is the conquered lands.

The latter. There is a rebel uprising you will have the option to support.

You lack the social concepts. This is more of a big man deciding to directly take power in a more organised government structure, resulting in a more formalised arrangement.

... Oh dear Arthryn. That's going to be a problem.
How do you even break a culture like that, when their "civ" is made of various, disparate tribes?
Do you just keep killing and hope their Temp Culture goes into negatives?
Can we actually target the All-Boar, and force a negative Mystycism? Would that even happen, or something else?

The con of that value is the thing that makes their hordes fall apart from the Hero is dead.

Who the hell is Urth. Let me guess one of immortal fellows.

The undead warrior-necromancer of the Caradysh and the guy who invented slavery in the lowlands. Considered the most evil being in existence by the People and that is counting the likes of Curan and Vervov. He was also born a couple centuries before Ymarn.

So, considering the nomads were also able to attack the Freak Folk, I'm going to assume that their territory bordered the Steppes.
This leaves two options for me.
Either Urth moved north up the coast and decided to beat us up because we have a bunch of fertile land.
Or he took some sort of zombie horde across the steppes and decided to go murder some nomads.

I'm certainly hoping it's the latter :V

That kind of intensifies their nomad nature, doesn't it?
Nomads aren't a civilization-shaking threat without their heroes (assuming lack of significant internal problems, of course).
Now their integrity is based on their terrifying force multiplier.
They got big man leading the charge? They attack. They lack their glorious leader? Fall back.

It's gonna be all in or nothing at all.

But did he go across the mountains into Merntir/Boarfolk territory....

Or did he just casually stroll into Greenbay?

While the whole slaughtering nomads across the steppes from the lowlands all the way to the Merntir is totally fitting of the Epic Age, Urth has decided that to get more bodies for his army, he is going to attack the most populous civ in the region.

Not quite. Nomads without a Hero would still be a threat to anyone living in the areas bordering them even if they wouldn't threaten the whole civ (unless the civ was a small one on the boarders of the steps)

After we die can we take over the new necromantic order Urth builds using our bones? Like maybe he ascends to a higher plane and we're the rebellious acolytes/slaves or something.
Perhaps we can be the invading force against the now-settled nomads this time.
