Can You Feel the Sunshine? (A Sonic the Hedgehog Quest)

Don't get your Tails in a twist

"Miles, lunch is ready!" His father called out to the yellow fox as he finished sketching his latest idea with the paper and pencil kit he got last week.

"I'll be out in a second dad!" The two tailed fox responded, putting the final touches onto the idea as he came out, two sandwiches on the table as his father poured him a glass of milk.

"I swear if I didn't call you out for food, you would be in there all day." His father teased, putting away the carton as Tails dug in.

"Hey, I have good ideas." The younger boy argued, the young boy's fangs digging into the tomato, lettuce and ham in the sandwich.

A 'hero' sandwich, they called it. Though the young fox would find it hard to disagree as he was mezmerised by the nice taste of the small sub.

"Just make sure to put your plate in the sink when your done, I need to take care of some work." His father told him, the boy nodding as he drank his milk.

'Have to get big and strong, just like Harry and Lloyd.' He thought with a sigh, he didn't really like thinking of the two bullies, but the fact was both were far bigger and stronger than he was, even if they were only two years older than him.

He had too eat his meat and veg if he wanted too catch up too them...

The thought of mean and meaner left a bitter aftertaste in his mouth, putting away his plate like his dad asked him to(although he still had a hard time reaching up) as he decided too go out for a walk.

Hopefully the boy could work on his dads plane after school tomorrow, the fox able to dodge most of his classes due too his intelligence, but he still had to go to some of them for attendance.

Looking at the town, the boy smiled as he saw everyone was starting to recover from Robotnik's attack. Sure things had changed, but not all those changes were bad.

Unfortunately, some of the changes very much were bad...

Particularly, two fox's that seemed to enjoy making his life far less happy....

"Well if it isn't the freak." Harry the older of the fox duo spoke, giving a fanged grin as he stomped in his juniors path.

"Didn't we tell you to go back to your Island Mutey?" Lloyd, the smaller, but just as nasty, member of the two spoke, cracking his knuckles as he looked at the younger fox with his 'friend'.

"Guys, c'mon, I just wanna go for a walk." He begged, not wanting this too turn into another bullying session as his tails unconsciously wrapped around each other in fear...

"Oh, so now he thinks he can decide what we should do?" Lloyd spoke to Harry, both frowning as they glared at the younger fox.

"Maybe we should teach him too respect his betters." Harry suggested, giving a toothy grin as they both made their way up to the trembling fox.

Who quickly felt it was his cue too run... if they hadn't grabbed onto both his tails before he could flee.

"Ow, stop, that hurts!" he cried out, feeling them pulling with sneering laughter as their grip didn't loosen, if anything, only getting tighter.

"Oh you should be thanking us, we're gonna help you." Harry spoke up, pulling tighter with a dark grin on his face.

"Yeah, after this, you won't be an ugly two tailed weirdo anymore." Lloyd spoke, putting his foot on the younger boy's but as as he began too push him back.

"Just a no tailed fox." Harry finished, the two pulling as Miles felt tears pricking from the pain, his two tails right about snap off if they kept this up....

Right before a blue gust of wind broke their hold on him, the boy quickly rushing off as he jumped into the bushes to hide as he turned around.

The burst of speed ending as a famous Super fast Blue Hedgehog appeared, the Hero of the Island giving a glare too the two foxes as gave them both a stern glare.

"Hey, you just ruined our fun!" Lloyd called out in anger, Harry likewise glaring at the hedgehog, who only glared back at the both of them.

"Fun? You call bullying people younger than you fun?" Sonic the Hedgehog asked with an angry look on his face, one hand balled into a fist as the two foxes glared back.

"Yeah, that twerp was our play toy, and now you just ruined that for us." Lloyd spoke again, giving a scowl full of teeth as they both stepped forward.

And while that might have worked in intimidating a younger person, Sonic was not only much older than both of them, but he had dealt with far scarier things than two rude jerks.

"Oh, so you think its fun to hurt others, hmm?" He asked, dashing up close to them as he placed his fingers on Lloyd's ear "Would it be fun if I pulled your ears?" He asked, giving a light tug as the younger fox scowled.

"Maybe It would be fun if pulled your tail off?" He shot to Harry, gripping onto the boy's tail as he yelped "Hey, let go!" He protested, pulling them both as he gave them a glare.

"Not so funny when your on the receiving end of harassment?" He responded, getting some tears from the two as he kept pulling.

For all that they thought themselves as mighty as Tigers, they folded like Paper when someone stronger appeared...

"WE'RE SORRY!!!" They both cried out, which finally got the blue hedgehog too let go as they bowed. "Good, now don't let me catch you doing that too anyone again, we clear?" He spoke, getting a nod from the two foxes as they ran off.

"... You can come out now kiddo, they won't bother you again." The Blue hedgehog called out to the yellow fox, who hesitantly made his way out of the bushes.

"T-thanks mister... " He shyly responded, getting a chuckle from the older Mobian as he crouched down next to the younger guy, giving him a headrub.

"If those two or anyone else are bothering you about your tails again, just let old Sonic the Hedgehog know and I'll send em packing." He reassured the younger kid, getting a giggle from him as he stood back up.

"Well, I gotta go, those badnik's won't destroy themselves... probably." He remarked, before rushing off

"Wait!" Miles called out, two seconds too late as the Hedgehog was already almost out of the Zone as he lowered his hand. "I didn't get too give him my name... " He remarked, bummed out but happier now that his bullies would finally leave him alone.

The boy passing another poster for the Freedom Fighters as he gave it a smile.

////

Back in his room, Miles Prower worked on the schematics for the Airplane as the poster he saw before was now hung up on his bedside.

Tomorrow, he was going to go out and meet his hero, no matter what it took.

"Miles, Dinner is ready!" His father called out as he smiled, putting away the plane designs before passing through his other notes.

"Just a second dad." He spoke, taking the old idea he made for himself, and with a shake of his head, he threw it into the bin.

Looking back, it wasn't really that great of an idea, and the fox was unsure of why he wanted to do it in the first place.

After all, if two tails made him an outcast, what would Nine of them do?

[X] Perhaps you want to take some time off to heal?
-[X] No. Go right on to the next Action.

[X] It's empty...too empty. Keep hitting Badniks, but be careful. Something seems off in this place.

[X] "Only one way forward, huh...Suits me fine."
-[X] "Alright, Badniks. Whenever you are hiding, come out."

You look ahead, a natural upward slope is that path you must cross, as the day turns to dusk.

"Only one way forward. Huh... Suits me fine." A smirk on your lips naturally forms as you say that. You're far more used to this than the winding paths of that last place here.

Though you can't help but feel this place is way too empty for your liking. Just that there's something... Off here.

Sonic runs 10.25/200 yards.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 36. Obstacle!

You jump over a small ravine at +0 Jumping #3d6 = (3+4+4) 11. Success!

Enhanced Move (Ground) 1 activates!

Sonic runs 30.75/200 yards.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 49. Obstacle!

You try to jump over a large pit of spikes at -2 Jumping #3d6 = (6+4+6) 16. Failure!

You lose your Blue Shield as you hit the spikes below!

You try climbing the edge at -2 Climbing as you try to get out of the pit as quickly as possible #3d6 = (4+3+4) 11. Success!

Enhanced Move (Ground) 1 deactivates!

You jump over a ravine, you ain't letting your quills get wet today!

But as you're distracted by that thought, you don't notice the other gap past the ravine, as you fall into a pit of sharp spikes. Your Blue Shield breaks as you scramble to grab a wall and climb your way out of there as fast as you can. "That was way too close of a shave!" Some sweat goes down your forehead at that.

Sonic runs 41/200 yards.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 53. Obstacle!

Sonic climbs a small cliff at -1 Climbing #3d6 = (5+2+1) 8. Success!

Enhanced Move (Ground) 1 activates!

Sonic runs 61.50/200 yards.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 91. Boxes!

2 Ring Boxes - They each hold 10 rings to collect when hitting them.

You have obtained 20 rings. Sonic now has 20 rings.

Sonic runs 82/200 yards.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 72. Rings!

You have obtained 10 rings. Sonic now has 30 rings.

Sonic runs 102.50/200 yards.

You go past the safe zone, seeing no reason to rest at the moment.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 75. Rings!

You have obtained 5 rings. Sonic now has 35 rings.

You take part in collecting the rings along this path. Though you're not sure if the Chaos Emeralds are here, you're at least now knowledgeable of the uses it brings with trade...

"Wait, why do I have a Chili Dog inside my pocket space?"

...oh no. That's been in there for the last month since you last went to Brick Bison's Shop.

"...it doesn't look like it's gotten moldy in the slightest though." It probably won't be bad to eat when the time comes. Probably.

As that is said, you pass on by what looks to be a safe place to rest at. No need for that when you're doing okay at the moment.

Sonic runs 123/200 yards.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 56. Obstacle!

There's another gap here, you jump over looking down to see it falls into some river at -2 Jumping #3d6 = (3+2+5) 10. Success!

Sonic runs 143.50/200 yards.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 96. Boxes!

Blue Shield - They protect you from 1 single hit and then disappear. They last for the duration of the Stage.

Sonic runs 164/200 yards.

"And a hop, and a jump!" You shout that out as you cross over yet another gap in this ever-rising slope of a path, looking down for but a moment to see some river way below you.

After that stands a box with that all-too-familiar blue bubble image, you spin attack into it feeling a shield go around yourself.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 32. Enemies!

2 Scouters.

You use a Spin Attack to clear them out of the way #3d6 = (1+5+3) 9. Hit!

1/2 Flickies obtained.

Scouter 2 tries to fly away #3d6 = (6+5+3) 14. Fails to dodge!

Roll for damage for Scouter 2 #1d6 = 6*1.5 = 9 Damage.

Scouter 2: -7/2HP. Scouter 2 explodes!

2/2 Flickies obtained.

Sonic runs 184.50/200 yards.

Random Encounter #1d100 = 80. Rings!

You have obtained 15 rings. Sonic now has 50 rings.

You can now see two of those Fly Badniks in front of you. "And here I was thinking Eggman forgot to bring any Badniks here!", you spin attack through the two as two Flickies fly out to now be by your side. "We're almost there guys!"

Whilst also enjoying a few extra rings you're collecting near the end of the path. You know, this was pretty easy-

Sonic runs 200/200 yards.

You make a perception check to notice a pressure plate that you're sure to step on if you don't, you roll at -2 Perception #3d6 (5+6+4) = 15. Failure!

You unknowingly step on a pressure plate, hearing a click at the last second.

And look up to see something large.

Very large.

What was the term for a large rock again?

Ah, right. It's a- "BOULDER!? RUN GUYS!" You shout towards the Flickies alongside you, also taking their chance to flee.

As said earlier, whilst there is no random encounters from places you already ran through, they still retain enemies you did not defeat and obstacles that stood in your path.

The yellow squiggles represent Obstacles.

[ ] Write-in. Don't let a giant rock get in the way of some things to say as you run!

A Shade of Science - radioxaxa
A Shade of Science

Log date: March 12th, 16:30 am, tape 1003

Is this thing on? Good, I thought it would almost never work.

It has been 4 months since I began my research on the Space Colony Ark, the United Federation has given me a rather large funding for their latest use of taxpayer dollars, 'Project Shadow'.

Though I did not pick the name, I feel it fitting given my own plans for the research we may find amidst all this experimentation.

Though it is with great frustration that I admit, after several months of attempting to create the ultimate life-form of planet earth, I have been met with disappointment after disappointment, though we have finally managed to keep our current specimen from dying from exposure to Chaos Energy.

Unlike the other... unfortunate specimens that we gave life too, only to have sadly taken away, but even with this large improvement, I can still regard them as not even close to the ideal being we aimed to create

Experiment 0072, dubbed as 'The Biolizard' by my colleagues, while undoubtedly powerful, has shown several flaws in its genes that have prevented it from reaching the planned maximum efficiency.

The rejuvenation function of the beast is unfortunately not fully functional, while it may be able to withstand and even heal large injuries, it is failing to properly spawn out the limbs that it was born without, and while dangerous, it is essentially a monster born without eyes, without proper limbs, and without many other vital necessary parts.

Organs, sights, even its tail doesn't not fully work, suffice to say, Experiment 0072 is essentially crippled for all intents and purposes.

Too keep it from dying like its predecessors before it, we have installed a machine upon its back that can keep energy wavelength copied from my research into these 'chaos emeralds' stabilised through its body, too keep it from expiring and make sure it doesn't necessarily need feeding or even sleep.

The Eternal engine, as we have taken to calling it given its function both for the Biolizard and for project shadow as a whole, was made after we noticed the rapid growth Experiment 0072 was achieving, going from the intended size of a grown elephant too nearly quadruple his size in mere days.

Its organs stretched and the rest of its body not too keep up. Yet another reason for why we have dubbed it a crippled being...

And while that is understandable given what it has been through, and been born without, the beast we have created is in a state I would struggle to place between sapient and feral, while the Biolizard has shown themselves to be rather tame around me and follow my commands like I plan for the finalized product, it seems to have an almost overwhelming urge to destroy anyone else.

I'm uncertain if this is for some specific reason, or that the being recognizes me as its creator, just as I am unsure of where its drive to destruction comes from. The other scientists who it was also made to command have no way of controlling it, and attempts by one of my colleagues ended with severe injury that put him out of commission for weeks

While I am aware that the Beast is intended to be a weapon for the USA, for the moment, we have focused on its intended purpose of enhancing medicine by effecting the cells too see how well it can respond.

5 days ago, a blood sample was taken, calculated and applied to several different animals that the Biolizard was composed of too see how it would respond as universal Donner, stage one of our grand panacea.

All animals died in agony within less than half a day after the experiment began. I cannot let this...
this poison near Maria....

It was a relief that I managed to bring her onboard with me on the Ark, the guards who escorted me had given flack for bringing a child onboard the space colony, but when I made it clear I would refuse too work if I could not continue providing treatment for my dear granddaughter, they had reluctantly agreed.

I'm aware its wrong to play favorites with my grandchildren, but there is just something about my dear Maria that brings a light to my life that I feel I was missing this whole time. Young Ivo will always have a special place in my heart, but I know he will be fine without me, his mind is almost as brilliant as my own...
I'm sure he will do wonderful things with it in the future.

Moving past family matters, we have decided the Biolizard was not even close to what we were looking for regarding our research, and have placed it down in a cell for future observation too see where it was along the biological lines that we went wrong.

While violent when anyone but me approaches it, it still seems to obey my commands without hesitation, too which thankfully led to no causalities when I escorted it too it's new home.

Despite its failures in the ultimate lifeform, I almost feel a connection with the poor creature. We brought them into this world, and now all they can do it suffer in it. Perhaps when Project Shadow is fully complete, I can use the cells to give it a proper life without the need of the Eternal Engine...

They are but a mere shadow of what project shadow is meant to attain, and so I saw it fit too bestow upon them a name, upon which I only speak when alone or with the poor beast.

Shade... Shade the Biolizard, that is their name.

Regarding experiment 0073, I've decided too work on the core fundamentals and see what needs revising, the Biolizard was made from the dna cells of several animals and mobians alike, from most resilient to those with healing properties.

Unfortunately it appears they were simple not made too be proper conduits from the chaos energy we injected it with, which was likely responsible for their mutation and breakdown over the course of its 'birth' and growth stage..

Recalling my time of research on floating island, back when I was still an ambitious youth scouring the earth, I fondly remember researching the ancient ruins I found hidden inside the catacombs. In particular, an ancient text that read of a bearer of chaos energy fighting against a machine of likely alien origin.

From what I have gathered, this being was a hedgehog Mobian, and in light of this recollection, I have decided too create experiment 0073 in the shape and with DNA of a mobian family who volunteered for a substantial amount of money.

I am hoping the DNA will serve as a better conduit for the chaos energy we will be injecting into experiment 0073 this time around, as too avoid a repeat of what led to 0073 being born into the agony of life.

Truth be told, I'm not quite confident that this will work, but I cannot give up now, we're gone so far, put so much effort and funding into this project.

Maria... Maria will only live for so long, even with the treatment my colleagues and I are giving her, she only gets worse with each passing week. I need to finish this project as soon as I can.
No matter what it takes...

Perhaps if I am lucky, this will be the experiment that finally bears fruit on what I'm looking for, I am not naive enough too think that the correct specimen will just fall from the sky like a shooting star, only continued research will give us what we are looking for.

Hopefully by my next report I will have hit a breakthrough, this is Doctor Gerald Robotnik, ending log now.

A good look into the mindset Gerald was in back then, along with a detailed look into the Biolizard, nice. Worth 3/4th of a Character Point.

[ ] Canon.
[ ] Non-canon.
This is only to be answered by radioxaxa themselves.

As for the vote for the latest threadmark, I'll be closing it once a voter chooses one of the two current votes and working of the next threadmark immediately.

[X] Canon

Was trying to show the slips of madness that drove him too destroy the world after Maria died, while also showing why the Biolizard obeyed him and was willing to obey his orders long after his death and that Gerald was once a genuinely kind human being, even to his experiments.

And hint at some other things, including why he based Shadow off the form of a Hedgehog.

[X] RUN
-[X] That safe spot! Jump over the obstacles and hide from the rock there!

[X] Crapcrapcrapcrap!!!

Sonic runs 20.50/100 yards.

The Boulder rolls down 10/100 yards. In the next turn it'll increase its speed by +5.

Sonic runs 41/100 yards.

The Boulder rolls down 25/100 yards. In the next turn it'll increase its speed by +5.

Sonic runs 61.50/100 yards.

The Boulder rolls down 45/100 yards. In the next turn it'll increase its speed by +5.

"Crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap!" Not only are you saying this, you're pretty sure the squawks of the Flickies flying with you are also saying that in their own way.

Running down the path as fast as you possibly can, you're already at your top speed from what you got up there in the first place, that is luckily now being put to use by this situation.

Sonic runs 82/100 yards, encountering the obstacle he jump over before.

You jump at -2 Jumping to get over the gap just in time #3d6 = (5+3+4) 12. Success!

The Boulder rolls down 70/100 yards. In the next turn it'll increase its speed by +5.

Sonic runs 100/100 yards, jumping into the safe zone just in time before the boulder hits him.

The Boulder rolls down 100/100 yards, and continues rolling past the safe zone just barely missing Sonic.

You leap.

Your heart racing as you just barely make it across the gap in your panic, and throwing yourself towards the safe area whilst grabbing the two Flickies to make sure they make it with you.

The grand sound of the boulder behind you whizzing by, having just missed you by a hair!

You and the Flickies have to take a moment to rest from that experience. "Damn... It... Eggman..." Those words being said between each breath you take. "But... Can't just stay here can we guys?" And though hesitant, the two Flickies nod their heads at you.

Sonic runs 20.50/100 yards.

Sonic jumps over the gap at -2 Jumping #3d6 = (5+2+3) 10. Success
!

You jump over the gap, a bit easier this time since you're not in such a hurry.

Sonic runs 41/100 yards.

Sonic runs 61.50/100 yards.

Sonic runs 82/100 yards.

Sonic runs 100/100 yards.

You and 2/2 Flickies go through the Giant Ring, causing them to go somewhere else as you are transported to a different area of the island!

This time is more like a peaceful stroll than what had happened previously, as you run upwards the hill to the giant ring sure to be up there. And sure it is as you see it.

"That should take you lot somewhere safe, go." They nod their heads, thanking you for saving their lives as they head through it, disappearing to who knows where. It's about time you do too.

"Here we go!" A familiar warping sensation hits you, and in the exact moment you went through the whole of the ring, you appear somewhere else. Another little safe place to stay, one you'll take advantage of to sleep for the night as dusk has seem to have fully gotten through.

And a little bit away from here, a large open field. It's rules of 3 right? You can feel it in your bones that something tough will be up ahead.

But first... A small nap on the dirt beneath you.

Rings gotten throughout the stage for you #1d50 = 27 rings!

Green Grove Zone: Act 2 cleared!

You have obtained 77 rings!

Green Grove Zone: Act 3 (Just a large open area)
0/0 Flickies obtained.
You have a feeling Eggman is gonna be there to greet you with a smarmy grin.

You rub your eyes, the early dawn shining brightly on you. It's strange to wake up to the sound of nothing, no birds tweeting, no animals scuttering around... Just the wind.

With a jog you go towards where you need to go, ready for what is up ahead. "Wonder what that guy has been doing since I whooped his ass," you mumble. "Well, besides kidnapping Freedom Fighters. Maybe put a few upgrades towards that copy of me? Or has put his time to fight me in another machine I'll destroy within the minute? Ooooooh, maybe he'll send Scratch and Grounder again! Please be Scratch and Grounder, I need to punch that drill one in the face!"

But your myriad of thoughts come to an end as you see the man himself, the all-too-familiar Eggman in his floating pod. "Alright, Egghead! You wanted it, here I am! Let's get this done with!"

The man perks up at that, turning to look at you with a sense of mirth. "Hedgehog. Finally here I see, you've made a very busy racket during this time in-between. Rallying up this entire Archipelago against me?"
"Yeah, one that'll kick your sorry ass when the time comes!"

"Ha! As if. That one Penguin Mobian is proof enough on the pathetic state your army is in. Oh don't you glare at me, he's in a very safe place with your other captured comrades. As for myself... I've been equally as busy, a few things here, some things there, and an island such as this with so many interesting discoveries!"

You tap your foot at that. "And your point being?"

"Ohohohoho! You should know by now Hedgehog that whilst you do have your speed, I have my own brilliance of mind, a speed of its own if you will! It took only a small amount of time to make the discovery of the century! One that will irreversibly change the course of Mobius' history itself!"

Mobius? Whatever, that doesn't matter right now, what's more troubling is how excited the Doctor looks.

Through Eggman's laughter he reaches down somewhere in his pod, puling something out. A ring.

"What, is a ring of all things supposed to make me scared? I thought you had better jokes than that Eggman." You smirk.

His mirth does not let up. "A fool you are then, might I remind you where we are?"

Where we are? Flickies' Island, a place with giant rings that-"Oh just what are you planning now Egghead!"

"Gyahahahaha!" And with a maniacal laugh he opens a small section of his pod to throw the ring to the floor, as it bounces before you and turns big.

The ring pouring a blinding light out of it as a figure steps through.

"Yo Doc, so this is the schlemiel you wanted me to kick the ass of?"

"Yes, do have a fun time with him once we're doing talking to him, I'm sure he has quite a few questions for my unrivalled genius! Also put the ring on your forearm, so that you don't have to bother me with going back and forth."

This... This can't be right.

Things at least made sense with that metal copy of yours, but this one ain't shining like metal.

No, he's flesh and blood just like you. Wearing a black coat, boots and shades, and standing with attitude. Despite those clothes he's so much like you.

In fact...

Jail House Talk

It was another miserable day in Eggman's prison cell for Ray and Mighty, the armadillo doing push ups too past the time as Ray took what must have been his 5th nap today.

"How much longer Mighty?" The Flying Squirrel asked his best friend, stifling a yawn as he finally woke up, his dreams filled with scouring the island with his pal, and once more he was brought back into the merciless reality that was Eggman's Egg Cell.

"Not much longer Ray, just 2 more weeks." The armadillo reassured his companion as his arms tensely carried him through his endeavor. "I think."

Groaning, Ray shoved his hands, the poor boy up to his wits end with this stupid long game they played with the Doctor. Eating his 3rd rate prison food, dealing with his annoying messages every once and again. It almost drove a young Squirrel insane.

And speak of the devil, the screen turned on with a buzz as both mobians gave it an unimpressed look as they wait too see whatever lame message the Doctor had recorded.

"Hello my little prisoners, today is your lucky day!" The not-so good Doctor announced, giving a bright grin onto the screen as both mobians rolled their eyes "It has come to my attention that you my little prizes of this war might not be happy being so along in your tight little cages. So I have decided to give you some company." The invader of their home spoke, catching them both off guard.

Badniks forming around them as they carried in their new cellmate, a penguin with glasses and who looked to be a fair bit older than them, a yellow crest of 'hair' on his head as he groaned a bit from how tight the swatbot behind him was pressing onto his arm.

"Hey lads, hope I'm not interrupting anything." The older mobian spoke with a nervous grin, right before he was shoved into the cell as the doors tightened once again and most of the Badniks departed.

"Say hello to Whiz the Penguin, he'll be your cellmate for the rest of your time here, I do hope you get along." Eggman spoke, turning off the screen as finally all but one Badnik was gone.

"Jeez, he always like that?" The Penguin asked, as with a sigh, Mighty stood up and sat in his 'bed' "You learn to tune it out eventually." The armadillo explained, as with some excitement, Ray went up too the new prisoner, shaking his hands with a grin.

"Nice to meet you Whiz, the name is Ray the Flying Squirrel and that's my best mate Mighty beside us." The yellow squirrel gestured a hand too his brother in all but blood, who sighed as he looked at Ray.

"I can introduce myself Ray, you don't need to do it for me." The super strong mammal spoke up, getting a chuckle from his amigo who rubbed the back of his head.

"Oh right, your those two who got captured, your family is very worried for you Ray." Whiz spoke up, recalling hearing from the conference Sonic attended that one reporter was speaking about the flying squirrels family.

"Aw shucks, I wish they knew I was fine." The boy spoke up, knowing that they might have spats every now and again,

"So how did you get captured, guessing you did something to tea off the old baldy Mc'Nosehair?" The youngest in the room asked with curiousity, while he felt bad that Whiz got captured by the Fat scientist, he was relieved they at least had someone else to talk too besides Mighty.

"Not quite, was mostly just on patrol when the new invention of the Egghead appeared, tried fighting it off but it was a bit too strong for me." He admitted, one of the crests on his head gesturing too the guard outside as Ray let out a nod of understanding.

"Man, that must suck like a vacuum cleaner." He spoke as Mighty frowned.

"Eh, I'm not too worried, soon enough, Sonic is gonna bust us out here, just gotta be patient." The older mobian spoke with blithe, too which both Mighty and Ray shared a glance.

"Sorry pal, but I don't think he is coming for you." Might spoke, getting a raised brow from the Penguin

"And if he is, it won't be very soon." Ray responded, with a shake of his head, while normally he would not like to insult his hedgehog friends credibility, the 2 weeks of nothing but waiting had done a number on his optimism.

"Well he has been busy, wasn't easy picking after his final fight with Robuttnik, that and forming the freedom fighters, but soon enough, he's gonna come marching right up here and help us all." The older mobian confidently spoke, faith in their hero to come save them.

"The freedom what now?" Mighty asked with a confused look

"HA! Robuttnik!" Ray broke into a squeal of laughter, almost doubling over at the hilarious name for the fat ass.

"The Freedom Fighters, it a little group that Sonic made up too protect the Zones." The larger mobian explained "We only started recently, but we have some real potential, once they are all ready and formed, Sonic and the others are gonna come marching in and send Robuttnik packing!" Whiz spoke with confidence, the older prisoner knowing that his friends would come save him.

"... Tch, well I guess I can't blame him for that." Mighty spoke with a slight smile on his face.

"Yeah, if Sonic is just setting up the stage, can't blame him for being fashionably late, can we." Ray admitted with a grin, the boy's boredom being replaced by excitement at whatever their heroic friend was cooking up.

"Though if he does take too long, we always have a...
secret way out, if you catch my drift." Ray spoke up, whispering too Whiz, as the macaroni penguin gave him a quirked brow.

"Yeah, me and my good pal here have found a little way out that we can squeeze through once that Rotten Egg Robotnik lowers his guard down." The flying squirrel told the boy, as Mighty put a hand on his friends shoulder.

"Don't go blabbering our plan out in the open Ray, we got eyes and ears on us." The Armadillo spoke, pointing at the swatbot that stood guard near them.

"Right, right, sorry Might's, just got a little excited." Ray explained, getting a smile from the Whiz.

"Well if you two are breaking out at some point, think you have room for two more?" He asked

"Oh course, no Mobian left behind." Ray reassured him, right before his words caught up with the duo.

"Wait, two more?" He asked with confusion, only seeing one prisoner here.

"Yeah, there was someone else with me when I arrived, we got set up into different cells though, probs because she was a girl and I'm... not." He admitted, recalling the Red Fox Mobian that came here with them.

"Well it wouldn't be very heroic too leave a damsel in distress behind, so count her in two." Ray spoke with gusto in his voice, getting a chuckle from Whiz.

"There would be many things I would call her, but damsel probably isn't one of them... " He spoke

////(With another section of the Egg Prison)////

In a cell explicitly made for female prisoners, its sole occupant lay in wait as she looked up too the ceiling about, pessimistic blue eyes shining with a small glimpse of hope in them that she might one day be free of this prison.

The Hot lava around her 'cage' only made her red fur glisten brighter against her black clothing as she sat down, waiting in peace. Recalling the Penguin she had briefly been speaking with who wouldn't stop talking about a hero that would come save them all.

And while a girl like her would usually dismiss stuff like that as the babble of someone who were too pathetic too save themselves, something about the sheer faith the Mobian had in this supposed Hero, something about it made her heart feel a little more open the idea of being rescued.

"Just gotta wait, just like he said." She spoke to herself, reminding herself of the words the 4 eyes had spoken, of the enemy of the Egghead coming to help...

"Just gotta wait and Hope."
