I mean it kind of HAS to move slow when your telling 3 different stories at once. its what 4-5 interludes and then the QA segment? It moved but only past the pre-dinner training session.
Except its not an interlude chapter, so the only relevant perspectives are the ones directly dealing with QA and HH (so the HH valks, QA, and Symbie at most), and Im still not sure that the HH segments arent slowly killing the story as well.

Also, the solution to having too many subplots is to cut some threads loose.

If 75% of the chapter is an interlude then yes its safe to say its an interlude chapter. That said I agree were getting to the point where things are bloated enough that there are essentially three concurrently running side stories. Interludes are often a way to show an outside perspective and further flesh out the universe and its at the point where its taking over the universe; Then again its a crack fic which are generally a bit quirky and it isn't my story.

Also I feel the need to add that I don't particularly mind these flaws because I also like the side stories. An Alivaril update is still easily the highlight of my week.

"Nnnooooo," Shapira began slowly.
...
Shapira held up both arms in an X.
Human communication options are so varied and amusing. The Valks are eccentric. Poor QA still not used to host's lack of self control.
"You know, some of the swarm is actually a little cute. Big eyes, vocal range adequate for squeaking, deceptively squishy exterior, none larger than my torso... I can definitely see them being made by a teenage girl."
Elise is fun, I hope she stays relevant after Hell's Hand is done. Really enjoyed Symbie's part too!

The Apocrypha of Anna's poor skill at describing things and Decimator getting bested by QA's anti-forging measures became canon.

My problem is that the story already has interlude chapters that are labeled as such and this one wasnt. And that implies bad things about how bloated the story has become.

Ironically, the original version of the chapter was about 2.5k words larger and 95% of them were from QA's perspective. It's likely that people would've thought of it as even more bloated, though, just for different reasons. :p

Basically all of my stories have the occasional dedicated interlude chapter even if they have multiple POVs normally. Don't read too much into it.

You might be happy to know that the newly-deployed squad trying out Symbietech (probably) won't be getting further screentime, though.

Which means we can have 3 times as many cliffhangers per update.
Don't tempt me :V

EDIT:
Is this what an Acid Trip reads like?
Actually, I think that honor goes to Taylor's interlude in Sanctioned. I'm very proud of it.
The girl with no name wandered through a maze of flowers.

I'm not quite sure what was going on in the beginning of the chapter?
Symbie is getting attached to valks partly because Taylor and QA have different opinions on whether humans count as people automatically or not and is splitting the difference. She's handing out some info that's probably kinda sorta not meant to be handed out because watching people who might actually count as people suffer and die is distressing.

Why do I get the feeling that the valkyries will use that evaluation software for a lot more than missing out on situations that would have hurt them?

I feel that the pace is, perhaps, a touch slow around Hell's Hand. But the altrnative is basically no Hell's Hand. Pacing isn't really a binary thing, there is a range and everyone is on the "gotta go fast" team but there is usually a trade-off. They could have gotten through Hell's Hand with a single paragraph, but so much would have been lost. I am personally a little inclined to have gotten through The Queen Administrator Exhibit in a single update, where as here we got them arriving at the (admittedly impressive) front door and nothing more. Presumably, once Hell's Hand is finished, Taylor will get closer to the main story and be less of a disparate thread, tightening things down a little, but I wouldn't trade that.
One more question though, who the hell is Koji?
Browbeat.

Cue the introduction of Deci-kun, the mysterious African transfer student and rival for Koujirou's position in QA's flight. Smart, attractive, incredibly skilled, and also male, Deci-kun is essentially Koujirou but better in every way. Driven by jealousy, the Clueless Moron begins to spy on his rival, whereupon he discovers a shocking truth: Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome is actually a giant starfish alien wearing a pair of Groucho glasses! Such drama, much wow.
Honestly, if it got to the point of QA/Dreamer doing a "panic cover", and the "Kaworu expy" that'd happen, which would totally lead to Deci-kun, unintentionally triggering different sorts of flags, with unknowingly deeper than expected cover....

Which will all blow up in his face, with the madness, social antics, etc. Leading to a potential 'bee-line' into Anna. Confused on what caused an (other?) Antagonist to take interest in her. And it'd no doubt spiral to plots on further analysis... That totally won't ruin her day.

But hey. It'd be more the "Kaworu/Rei" Shipping if it were Gilgamesh fans (plural, not the studio.) Before things go into wars between them, and the "Deci/Anna" shipping. But by that point, it'd be plotting to convert/corrupt Anna into the "Antagonist" side of conflict...

That's totally, not going to suffer a "Springtime for Hitler" effect, over conflict data exceeding scale, with not missiles. But words, ill tuned.

Isn't that's just one of the MIB aliens? I remember that particular tentacles-for-hair because the scene of agent J being a midwife is kinda permanently etched to my younger brain.

It was the most work-safe image for a female Cthulhu that I could find. Since my various attempts to find a female humanoid starfish failed, I decided to go with an octopus instead.

Admittedly, I now deeply regret doing that image search. That which has been seen cannot be unseen.

Nah he has guns, just not a lot of them.

He has the Protagonist Special Budget 300 Frame. Set loadout, and some of it's locked.
But it unlocks when he 'needs it most' and the final unlockable is probably an outright 'I Win' button that may or may not also force some form of heroic sacrifice.

Hopefully it doesn't, because Anna is presented in the Quest as an unstoppable force of nature against Antagonists.

She also probably has spare body parts, and she doesn't use her organs aside from her head meats anyway.

But does he have a reality warping alien god the size of a planet on a speed dial (or two of them I guess)?

He is the protagonist and this is an anime, him having totally once in a blue moon super power up that make him win is very much possible and even likely, even if Anna will still be the best the vast majority of time when he doesn't use this.

Double points if this powerup is something he won't be capable of consciously controlling when he does get it (until the finale seasons), because anime.
