Well Miltank milk is sold to us in game so I would assume that Pokémon byproducts would be fine for consumption or use. But I'm just guessing so I could be very wrong

...Cows produce milk after giving birth, so either there is a potion of lactation, special berries, or some very, VERY happy Miltank husbands.

*****Edit*****

All Pokemon produce eggs, and Togepi IS an egg... Hopefully some of those eggs are unfertilized like chicken eggs?

People age, but at a very reduced rate. This is due to the strange plants (Pokeberries) and ambient energies. It is why so many old people are still around and kids look young for a LONG time.

Makes sense with Aura being all around and pretty much super plants and food to support it. It's first time I see it in any shape and form. Although I think my theory on PokeWar mentioned by Lt. Surge being one of the main reason why there is so much elderly and children alone, also makes sense.

Not sure if I mentioned this, but in Canon eating Pokemon is a tragic tale from the past, and an unethical practice still occurring in wealthy restaurants.

In anime canon unfortunately there is that scene where Ash and Brock, pokemon lovers pretty much, imagine eating Pokemon as one of examples that it's a thing. Yes, it sounds as bad as it is.

Related and in Canon, normal animals exist. Fish are seen swimming in Misty's Gym pool, not just Magicarp or whatever. SO, in my AU: Unlike Pokemon, nearly EVERYTHING wants to eat them, so in my story non-Pokemon creatures run from everything. They won't eat bait, they don't attack humans or approach trainers, special farms have to raise them due to how timid they are.

Makes sense. Also interesting AU in a way that survival strategy of running from everything in a world with so many deadly predators is possibly best survival strategy.

yah thats so fucked up they are sapient beings fuck dude

There is evidence depending on sources that it is canon, at least in some ways. Another good thing is that I don't remember this being the case in Pokemon Adventures. But it's been a while when I read it (I need to reread it soonish) that I could forget something.

Huh inwoukd have thought eating Pokemon would be more common, with eating normal animals being more for the rich or the poke "vegans"

Depending on ratios of Pokemon and normal animals. If there is far more normal animals, it would make sense they become main source of food. I also suspect if this is the case, we should also expect normal animal specializations that focus on:

A) Speed AND Maneuverability. In a way let's compare it so Fox vs Rabbit or Cheetah and Thomson's Gazelle situation. You don't need to be particularly smart (so evolution may focus on other body parts instead of brain that requires lots of energy depending on how advanced that brain is supposed to be) to know how to run away.
B) Size. I suspect smaller size should make hiding that much easier, so I expect normal animals to be smaller then examples we know. Also many species (like Wildebeest or herring) gather together so predators simply have too many targets to focus on, so weakest or isolated members become food, which distract predators so survivors can run away. This happening other way around I don't see as Pokemon can be pretty damn big, so I don't think it will work or predators types are simply too smart and powerful to not outsmart/overpower bigger normal animals anyway.
C) Possibly some normal species may in fact be far more intelligent as survival strategy to keep up with Pokemon. Or have more impressive basic instincts.
D) More advanced camouflage strategies.
E) Even more deadly natural poisons. So venomous snakes for examples may be that much more deadly in comparison to ours species, but with mostly 'running' and 'hiding' as a main thing, this should be a rare minority. Unless it would be 'bright colors' poisoning strategy. What I mean here is that for example Golden poison frog with its skin color pretty much shows 'Look at me, I'm so poisonous that if you eat me, you die' approach, which should work pretty damn well, especially with Pokemon which are that much smarter then standard animals.

So yeah, pretty much those combinations I find most plausible.

...Cows produce milk after giving birth, so either there is a potion of lactation, special berries, or some very, VERY happy Miltank husbands.

Impossible on 'husband' part, unless you mean different species that can breed with other Miltanks (it's not exactly clear?). Bulbapedia mentions that Miltank can be only female. Miltank is part of Field Egg Group.

Well... there is Balut for example in our world, which is pretty much fertilized egg pretty popular in Vietnam and Phillippines for example. So... there may be some people who like their eggs to be more 'advanced'.

Yeah, I know x_X.

I dont mean they woukd go out of there way to be cruel or target them or somethj, just in a world where fish can cause title waves normal animals dont have a good chance to

While I admit normal animals would likely adapt to survive I think the power balance is too fan out of whack. When Pokemon can basically use magic normal animals dont have a huge chance to survive, and any that do would either have to fill a specific gap to survive, be in extreme environments Pokemon don't normally go, or be so low in numbers there not a reliable food source.

In the games any Pokémon can breed with another as long as they 'like' each other. I always figured that Miltank and Tauros would go together....bull Pokémon with cow Pokémon.....

miltanks must be futa's then with both genitalia that both work

Taking into account sheer size of their udders I kind of have trouble seeing it :p. Missing space to put both at once and all :D.

Thing is that normal animals do show up in Pokemon, so it somehow happens. Sure, we may simply say 'because it simply happens', but it sounds kind of boring and lazy way to simply let it go.

Taking into account that Pokemon are pretty much sapient, I think Pokemon may in fact regulate on their own how many potential member species they eat, so their own food doesn't end. Although taking into account how BAD we are as species at it (and all those extinct species prove it and new ones unfortunately join the list of extinct ones till this day) I can see how someone may argue this point.

Or another survival strategy I didn't mention may be that simply normal animals focus on excessive breeding, so there is simply enough food for Pokemon, and those species actually survive. Rabbits, rats, insects, etc. should be able to keep up. It looks far worse with bigger animals, so those may be either extremely rare or non-existent.

Meh, if a cow could literally carve pleas into the soil and beg me to spare her children, I would probably get to learn how to love tofu.

Now that you mention Tofu... At this point seeing how we have sapient keys (Klefki) or friggin sapient teapot (Polteageist) in Pokemon world sapient tofu wouldn't really surprise me. Like at all :p.

Honestly if you decide to troll us and add in your own version of Tofumon, it would be hilarious for me :D. Just add some eyes and we have perfect OC Pokemon :p.

Also they love to sleep alot. You may never know when you actually end up eating sapient version of Tofu in Pokemon World, because they sleep and don't open their eyes when they are asleep obviously. Shit is real yo x_X.

In the games any Pokémon can breed with another as long as they 'like' each other. I always figured that Miltank and Tauros would go together....bull Pokémon with cow Pokémon.....

Not true. Some species of Pokemon can't breed with others if they aren't compatible. No matter what. Here is a breeding guide. For example Manaphy and Phione can only breed with Ditto.

And yes, it would make sense, but Pokemon have tendency to... not make sense in many cases really if you apply some logic. So this doesn't really surprise me.

Ladies in Pokemon are top tier waifus. And guys are also handsome if you are female or swing other way :p.
Indeed. And there's also the humanized Pokemon (which you mention later in your post) and of course, there are people who find the Pokemon themselves attractive. Gardevoir in particular.

We still don't know if this is anime. In other sources character do age and there are no exceptions like Ash.
The author did suggest this being a mixed world but mostly adhering to game logic.
EDIT: Ah, there's an explanation of what this world is a few posts after yours.

Also on potential Pokemon world building, I recommend Y'Know Nothing Jon Snow story. Things like King Gene (pretty much giant Pokemon, etc.) make it interesting and another thing I like here is that protag isn't another goody two shoes, but a greedy selfish guy. He can be nice, but he mostly cares about himself. A good change of pace in a fandom full of 'good' SI's.
I see you are a man of culture. It also helps that there's a literal Emma Watson lookalike as one of the female trainers... <3

Also Japanese have FAR MORE open approach towards sexuality, even in kids show. Seriously, observe Dragon Ball (original japanese one), which is pretty much a manga aimed towards teenagers. Some sex jokes are really, REALLY blunt. This is nothing pretty much.
Japan also has the lowest age of consent and there's a reason why people outside joke that rape is like a handshake in Japan. And they STILL have a lowering population problem. Mindboggling.

Missing space to put both at once and all :D.
Well, there's always hentai logic if all else fails. Where a giant can successfully... fit inside a tiny fairy. Without absolutely destroying her. Don't look at me like that... you can encounter all kinds of weird stuff on the internet even without looking.

Good Morning!
Adam woke up... very slowly. One arm was still wrapped around Abra's cocoon/barrel/backpack, his limb still coated in blue magical flames.

It apparently made it hard for Abra to use her psychic radar while increasing the feelings of safety, allowing her to ignore the world and get some healing rest.

Which was nice and all, but now he didn't want to get up or he may wake the little thing. Maybe.

Glancing at the door, Adam activated 'Technomancy'. Anita's Pokédex was still in the other room, so she was probably asleep.

Speaking of the local technology, they went in the opposite direction to Remnant. Instead of using faith imbued materials to push space into bulges for storage, they used Pokémon powered devices to duplicate effects like 'Growth' to increase the work surface and 'Minimize' to reduce the parts and tools...

The finished product was small. Damn small.

For example, Anita's Pokédex was mostly a plastic shell with a display supported by the capacitor style battery. The motherboard and electronics together were smaller than a penny, and most of the plastic shell was either empty or filled with shock absorbent foam.

And that tiny combination of electronics was ALSO mostly empty, even at that size. This 'basic' version of a Pokédex clearly had room for several missing components.

Absently petting Abra's head, he decided to try and connect to the local network as he reached out his range... and stumbled on the 'Automated Recovery Tool-Station' downstairs, near the computer lab.

Again, most of the machine down there was an empty shell, the display, some interface surfaces to connect to the Pokéballs, and a penny sized bundle of electronics. But THIS tiny motherboard was COVERED in tiny units, each carefully examined as he reviewed the design.

This one allowed the transfer of Pokémon to an internal buffer. That one allowed the manipulation of several liquids, each different types of potion. These two over here were used to suppress various types of automatic defense, so medical care could be used on creatures made of lava or ice or whatever.

Unit after Unit he examined used nearly no energy unless in heavy use, the tiny size allowing trickle charges to handle all needs. At this size, efficiency was high and possibility of modification was VERY low.

The interesting part was the overlapping parts. Some of the sensors used in Anita's Pokédex were just weaker versions of the expensive sensors used in this healing machine, and traded accuracy and variety of detection for cheaper parts and long distance analysis.

Making a portable healing station was... very easy. At least, if you could supply the power needed during healing... which was a significant enough charge needed that it probably was the reason these things were stationary to begin with.

Adam however had Star Wars capacitor technology. Blew this crap out of the water in comparison, even if some of the materials were nearly impossible to create without some REALLY advanced procedures and tools.

He also found several unoccupied Pokéballs down there, which were scanned easily enough. Most were the generic ones sold everywhere, a solid base that was a combination of low-cost and relative quality. More valuable however was the few examples of higher quality 'capture' devices.

Two Great Balls, one Dive Ball, and one Heal Ball.

The schematic differences were fascinating. All the electronics were, again, the size of a penny or so, and were inside the round circle 'button' on the front. The inside of the spheres were mostly identical, though the differences were clear.

The 'Great Ball' had more powerful materials used, and allowed better storage of the owner's Aura... or some type of external energy field. The other two designs also had enhanced abilities to store and transfer this field of power from the trainer, although they had a few more parts.

The 'Heal Ball' had a few (One time use) components identical to the Pokécenter healing machine. It would recover a captured Pokémon to full health when caught, even though it only had enough energy storage to do so one time without visiting a Pokécenter at some point to recharge.

The 'Dive Ball' had a strange Unit that acted like a VERY weak shield over the surface, unable to prevent damage or protect the device by much. However, it DID allow amazing speed when used underwater, and the capture protocol was designed to ignore liquids when capturing the creature.

Speaking of which, this 'Capturing' thing.

It wasn't brain washing, which Adam had secretly been concerned about. Instead, as mentioned before, these Pokéballs stored up the energies used by the Trainer and exposed it to the Pokémon during the capture process.

If the Pokémon felt the energies were compatible and desired, they would be 'caught'. Otherwise, good luck! You will need it. Even captured Pokémon could escape from their balls if they really wanted to, unless you did some really immoral modification like what Team Rocket apparently did.

Seriously, this energy field is apparently what made 'Trainers' connect so well with their partners. It may even be why wild Pokémon were so eager to join with a human to begin with!

With a grin, he decide to see if the local internet had any info on the subject.

As Adam felt the computer lab fall into his control (Seriously, those massive systems were mostly storage, the actual electronics were penny size again) he cautiously began to absorb network data.

Not going to act like a virus or a threat in this world, so he kept his internet exploration to 'human' speeds... just a few thousand 'humans' looking around online, ignore me!

Let's see... Yeah, like expected it was really well researched. Professor Oak, Elm, Rowan, Birch, Sycamore, Juniper... Huh. Apparently, the 'name after nature' thing was a cultural norm, when graduates became Professors most changed their names to match the theme. Neat.

Anyway, attracting Pokémon via your Aura was the ORIGINAL 'capture' method, the Pokéballs would just store up the Trainer's energies into a more dense and purified form, letting your potential partner understand if the two of you would be a good match. People strong enough wouldn't even need one, and apparently Adam was leaking power like a bonfire.

No wonder the other Pokémon scrammed when Adam was walking towards the city, someone with that much energy must have been terrifying! Except for this cute little Abra.

Anyway, this power field was normal for humans here. The Pokémon grew faster from exposure to these energies, and smarter, and stronger... The Trainer could even develop low level Psychic abilities without effort, allowing deep communication in short moments with their friends during battle or training.

The more they spent time together, the stronger this bond grew. When they fought together, trained together, and lived together, this power would build up in the Pokémon partner! Heck, the more Pokémon one Trainer successfully bonded with, the more energy the Trainer could produce!

And when this energy was stored up long enough, it could be used to power their Evolution. As least, the Pokémon COULD evolve as long as the Trainer allowed their partner to continue draining their energies during the process.

Some places on this planet had enough energy for the monsters to evolve without trainers, but they would mostly be weaker than one raised from childhood, exposed to this valuable energy for their entire life.

No wonder the more famous Trainers had such 'luck' capturing new partners, they were likely massive generators of this Aura-like energy. Practically Pokécandy.

Adam hummed as he browsed more and more sites.

The schematics for older versions of Pokéballs were published online for use by students? Yoink. So where the older types of Pokédex, Yoink.

Hmm... The newer schematics could be purchased, and Adam wasn't in a hurry just yet... money first, then BAM, top of the line hardware for him and his little Abra.

As be hummed and worked away, Abra dreamed.

~~~Broken Adventure~~~
The world was on fire.
Flames danced, and sang, and wandered, and explored.
Power was common and considered normal, Unusual was treasured and explored!
Snug and warm, she felt the flames of magic and faith slowly bathe her wounds, cool refreshing air filling her lungs with each slow, methodical breath.
Her partner was change. He was curiosity. His eyes were many, his limbs uncountable, his soul was designed for fish.
But most of all, his fire was full of life!
Youth, friends, loved ones, new places, new journeys!
Unlike her frantic and fragile fear flight, he had no concern.
For unlike most creatures, when something went thump in the night... it was likely HIM.
A rock in the river of time. A boulder that slowly tumbled in meandering paths.
Would he even notice obstacles as he cleared the path?
These Dreams of new places, would they end?
For she felt him, so small, looking at the endless sea of potential. With excitement.
As she relished the soft pats of assurance on her head, she wondered inside.
What would it be like to join this adventure?
~~~Broken Adventure~~~

Anita woke, flinching before recognizing the Pokécenter facilities. Right, she was safe now. Pidgey was safe. They were both fine.

She released her partner from her Pokéball, and the two spent some time together, assuring each other that they were both alright, that the dangerous situation was covered.

The tiny bird tilted her head and chirped.

She shook. "Yeah, that's when Adam showed up. He helped me get you here for treatment, and kept all the other Pokémon away while we went through the woods. I KNOW I saw some aggressive eyes in the dark, and they did NOT want to get too close."

Seeing the small bird's cautious expression, she gently hugged her. "No, he was nothing but supportive and easy going. There is no way he is working for Team Rocket."

She sighed and got ready for the day. "Now, the plan is to help him get some supplies. I've got lots of savings and earnings from Trainer battles at this point, now that I have access to my accounts here in the city. And I need to replace the gear we abandoned on the Route when we were ambushed."

She patted her cheeks and woke up fully. "Right, let's get today started!"

Overall, she felt pretty positive! After all, it couldn't be as odd as yesterday.

She opened the door, Pidgey perched on her left shoulder and looking around, and walked to the door Adam had taken. "Good Morning! Adam?"

The door opened, the massive man filling the entrance. "Ah, good morning Anita."

As he turned to close the door, she noticed his new 'Backpack'.

It looked like a large vase, with tiny Abra's sleeping in patterns over the thing. The colors were a mix of blue and green, light pastel shades, soothing colors.

Little Abra's head was snug and happy looking, with its body wrapped up like a burrito.

Its head was even being shaded by a fake palm tree crown posed above the back pack, with bright green fluffy pillow leaves gently waving.

The thing smelled like forest flowers and slightly of the sea.

Anita wanted one. Heck, it looked comfortable enough to tempt her into trying it herself, rather than make a nest for Pidgey.

Adam turned, taking the nap-pack out of sight. "So what options do we have for breakfast? I did not really take the time to see what is popular locally."

She blinked... then hummed. "Well, there are a few café nearby I like. One has like the BEST pancakes I've ever had. Since we are here anyway, why don't we go there?"

He gestured for her to lead on and the two walked off, chatting about the research Adam apparently did last night.

For someone so self confident and clearly hiding all kinds of secrets, the man was surprisingly unaware of the more common knowledge people grew up with here.

Since he was so comfortable in the forest when they met, maybe he was from a remote village? The frontier of the Pokémon wilderness was vast after all.

The two walked in the early morning light, Pidgey chirping in once and a while while Abra snored quietly, light blue flames randomly flickering over her new home.

It was a good start to the day, really. At least, until two shady people in Team Rocket uniforms jumped out of nearby alley.

Somehow, Anita wasn't shocked that Adam didn't seem concerned.

.....I'm imagining the normal rocket encounter music followed by a scratched record. All is dark, then this glowing eye appears over them and just stares.....and stares...it doesn't do anything, but the rockets still piss there pants and all unconscious. To which Adam shall go: ..........huh, thought they'd be tougher than that

I really like this Aura explination for why pokemon like to interact with humans. Humans having aura pretty neatly ties up all the weird things about pokemon that don't quite make sense. Like Ash having super strength and people being able to perfectly understand their pokemon despite the fact that they only can say one word. I kinda want to see what would happen if a particularly gifted human trained their aura extensively for combat. Like are those martial artists trainers in pokemon games actually super human because they train to use their aura in fights?

Like are those martial artists trainers in pokemon games actually super human because they train to use their aura in fights?

Aura Guardians were already mentioned.

But there are other examples of people strong enough to casually duke it our with Pokemon head on and I suspect aura is responsible for it. But in this case it's far more instinctual in use as aura is never mentioned with them. Something I would call... internal aura manipulation? Without all those call aura-like moves like Aura Sphere shot like projectiles for example.

People like Bruno, Elite Four Member in game 1. Or Chuck (from Gen 2). Or Maylene.

Not all of them have the balls that jessie, james and meowth do. They may be terrible criminals but no one can accuse them of cowardice

This is true. They are reckless and foolish, but balls of steel is something they have.

Also one of the scenarios I wish to witness at one point is that Team Rocket ends up in one of the more normal universes, where they keep all their durability, etc. advantages, while others are frustrated trying to deal with them. Worm, Young Justice or something similar. It would be amusing :p.

Time to recruit a new wife that needs a lot of loving teaching from the wives at home. And possibly Annet. *wiggles eyebrows*

So many options man.

Clair, Lusamine, Cynthia, Karen, Sabrina, Bea, Olivia, Lorelei, Burnet, Juniper...

And I could keep going, and going, and going.

Did you just neatly explain why frantically pressing B during evolution can stop it?
It's just withholding Aura? Mindboggling.

Yep, well done explanations. They are also my headcanons from now on ;). Good job by the way.

Also interesting thing is how author describes how compact and efficient that technology is, but with very little room for changes and improvement. When I think about it, it makes sense. Pokeballs, Pokedex, etc. look small and thin, and I agree that it should be hard to apply any changes here.

Although he only started picking up those, because for example Time Machine should be awesome to pick up.

Huh that explains why Pokemon seem to like being with there trainers and it does explain all the strange anime like abuse they go through. Hmm I wonder if a human could learn moves.

It also explains why Pokemon with a higher level than you aren't usually that good at cooperating.
They have more Aura than you. That's why Charizard was so hard on Ash in the beginning...

I know everyone's in awe or speculating about the power balance of the Pokémon world and how it works to keep people and Pokémon mostly balanced (by the way, *Yoink!* thanks for the new headcanon) or about whether Adam will pick up a canon or OC waifu from this world, but I'm just here laughing at the Tiny Abra's thoughts. She's so cute!
Her partner was change. He was curiosity. His eyes were many, his limbs uncountable, his soul was designed for fish.
Bwahahahahaha! That's hilarious! 🤣
