I have a quick question in regards to planning for future battles (assuming that we and everyone we love aren't just turned to goo during this one) Would we be allowed to set aside some soldiers as a "reserve" wing, which could be used during the battle to reinforce whichever flank was starting to crumble? I realize that such a thing doesn't really exist in CK2 (unless you count sending in a second army to back-up the first), but I was wondering anyways.

Yes it would be an option, but right here you do not have that option.

OK, here's the proposed force disposition:

[]Plan Crab Claws
-[][Center Commanders] Jory, Gavin, Ashford
-[][Right Commanders] Vasily, Alfonso
-[][Left Commanders] Wilhelm, Nicholas
-[][Center forces]83 Catapults, 68 Cannons, 13,000 Skirmishers (Experienced), 2000 Skirmishers (Veterans), 15,500 Light infantry (Experienced), 10,000 Heavy infantry (Experienced)
-[][Right Forces]30,000 Light cavalry (Experienced), 5250 Heavy cavalry (Experienced), 8000 Heavy Cavalry (Veterans), 4000 Light Cavalry (Veterans)
-[][Left Forces] 5,500 Skirmishers (Experienced) 2000 Heavy Infantry (Veterans) 2000 Light infantry (Veterans), 14,00 Light Infantry (Experienced), 12,000 Heavy infantry (Experienced)

The experienced forces, ranged, light, and heavy infantry have been split into two groups, between the right and the center. Skirmishers bias the center, but the rest is mostly 50/50. The left is pure cavalry, and meant purely as a hammer and spear.
I don't remember if we saw the Mongol force composition, but I think we'll be fine as long as our cavalry isn't driven from or drawn off the field (i.e. like Pompey at Pharsalus). If they are, we're boned! :)

No plan survives contact with the enemy anyway, let's loose the dogs of war!

We don't know about the enemy force composition, only because the battle started without scouts and the enemy's siege.

I assume our forces are trying to push them towards the fortress to limit the mongols Calvary movability and to receive help from the fortress. Is this correct
