They won't be a problem for a while though because they got what they wanted from Mali. Aka a fuckton of gold.

The Americas (Aztecs and Incas) are still suffering "famine" and even then, it will take them awhile to get their shit together before they decide to sunset invasion our ass.

We are tied for 1st place for the greatest martial in the world... Three guesses on who the other one is.

Ligitamently got chills listening to the Imperial Russian anthem. Such a well-done piece of music.

Edit: Hail to the Prince baby.
Genghis khan?

If we convert to Catholicism will the Pope be okay with us pressing our wife's claim?

Probably. From what I could work out from the post it seems his worry was that if the other lords of the Empire saw an Orthodox prince rather than a Catholic one take over Poland (remember, we're the man in the family so we're seen as the dominant figure) there'd be a civil war along religious lines - at least that was his excuse. So if we convert to Catholicism that should remove that objection. Of course that gives him a measure of political control over us through that faith - the threat of excommunication is a scary one considering how people react to the idea of their lord not being in God's grace (remember that even Vasily listed atheists -'godless men'- as even lower than Muslims or pagans).

The other question to consider is how Vasily's countrymen would react if he converted to Catholicism. As he is their lord it could be seen as a prelude to force the Rus to convert to Catholicism en masse, which probably wouldn't go down too well...

Much better to secede from the empire and make an orthodox empire :)

Technically it's another Mongol, as Genghis while he did exist, was not nearly a prominent in this world in territorial conquests. Atl Genghis just kicked China's ass so hard that they decided to leave the mongols alone so they could rebuild their strength. But the mongols were weakened by those series of war and needed to rebuild a little.

The guy Vasily is facing off against is certainly otl Genghis' equal. With a bigger horde.

Does this genghis equal still have access to chinese engineers and their siege weapons?
Edit : How does the chinese emperor stat compare to us?

We should just sit with the Emperor and the Pope and talk it out.
Whether the Pope wants to admit it or not, the Orthodox provinces are part of the Empire, and quite important part. We are the eastern border, we defend his Catholic flock from Mongol and Turk heathens. We have the same rights as any province, and the law at our side.

He's afraid for Polish faith?
Well, fine! I, for one, don't care much about religion. As Henry IV said "Paris is worth a mass."
When our disgustingly Orthodox son ascend on Polish throne he can convert to Catholicism. And if that's impossible for some reason, he can sign a declaration to defend and support the faith of his subjects. He can marry some good catholic girl and baptize his children as Catholics.

Just... let's not overreact too soon.

Considering the OTL Time of Troubles, oh yeah. We'd have most of Russia revolting.

That fixes the religious issue, but we'd also have to bring him up 'polish' so when he takes the throne and both his mom and us are in the grave, he isn't immediately deposed. A treaty foreswearing any Russian branch of the family's claim on Poland would probably be something I expect the polish nobility to try and sneak in.

The Khan of Khans
The Khan of Khans

(Naranbaatar POV)

The elder glared at you with tired, restless eyes. Her skin looked like peeling leather, nothing more than fleshy bags clinging onto what little skin was still alive on her bones.

Your brother tapped your shoulder as you pulled your head out of the tent. You stared at him with a bewildered look on your face.

"Good luck." He said as he sat down, looking out towards your camp.

"The gods will decide that." You sighed. "If they're watching us."

"At least it won't be that damned priest." Your brother said as he sat down.

"Aye." You replied.

You stepped forward into the tent and sat down in front of the small fire that was in the middle, separating you and the Elder.

She did not look up from looking into the flames. "You come seeking the wisdom of the gods, young Khan?"

"Yes, oh wise one." You replied as you bowed your head slightly. "I need to know my destiny."

The fire crackled slightly as the woman threw a collection of bones onto the ground in front of you. Teeth from horses that had died and boars that were slain by the hunters, if you had to guess.

The old elder started at the bones from across the fire. "Throw them into the fire young Khan. If your destiny is what you wish to know."

You picked up the bones slowly and threw them into the fire. The teeth let out a surprising pop, as they exploded in the fire. The smoke seemed to envelop your face.

You coughed as you tried to swipe the smoke away with your right hand. But then your vision went red as the elder said. "Relax your mind, young Khan. Open it to the spirits and the gods. And do not be afraid."

Then you felt like you were falling from the sky, smashing into the ground. Your head throbbed in pain as you looked up and tried to gain your bearings. But nothing worked, your head felt woozy and the world kept on spinning.

And then you started moving at speeds you never thought possible, flying into the air, over a wasteland, before it consumed you in fire.

That was when you saw the rider. The rider was a crooked figure, clad in white with a skeletal hand holding onto the reins. It turned to look at you, showing its face to be a bleached, maggot-infested skull.

Littering the ground were corpses of the dead, of all peoples. The closest to you were the most recognizable faces, your brother, the other Khans, and your family.

Then you saw the rider's horse, most beautiful stallion you have ever seen. A head held high contained pitch black eyes and the whitest hair you had ever seen. The steps that it was taking was long and graceful, something that you never thought was possible for a horse. And with each step, more bodies appeared, of people you did not recognize.

Then it started to snow. You felt the white flakes touch your hair and you reached out to touch them. But instead, you felt hot embers on your skin, burning you.

The ground was covered by the ash in moments, so thick that you could barely move your feet, as you trudge along closer towards the rider on the white horse. Then you saw the skull morph into a face, a face you did not think you would ever forget.

Alexi the Unbroken, the grand prince of Rus. the man you murdered escaping with Teju when he struck at your clan's camp rescuing his kidnapped son. He then slumped to the side, tumbling off the horse. The white robes turned into armor, and blood gushed from his mouth and sides like a waterfall.

Leaving the horse entirely to you.

You grabbed the reins and pulled yourself up, feeling a surge of power within your body. The landscape changed to the outskirts of a city, burning to the ground as your people fired volley after volley of arrows.

And then it began to rain, and you noticed immediately what it was.

Blood. It fell to the ground like a torrential downpour, like the gods had been gutted and were bleeding all over the earth and their children.

And you smiled… For you were the ruler of it all.

But one thing stood in your way. It was a bear cub, standing over the body of its slain mother. Glaring at you before it lunged at you, teeth aimed directly at your throat.

And then the vision ended. Your eyes fluttered open and you saw the elder moving a spoon full of a strange liquid. You moved your head back and sat up.

"What happened?" You asked.

"You went too far into your vision, and your soul was nearly lost along the path. You almost died." She replied. "Drink." She ordered.

You complied, the bitter berry juices slide down your throat tasting like horse piss. You wanted to spit it out but decided against it, only giving a harsh cough when it was done.

"Ah." You felt your energy come back to you. "Thank you." You stood up and bowed to the elder.

"Tread carefully young Khan… knowing one's destiny has proved fatal to many that came before you." She replied.

You wanted to ask her questions about your vision, but the elder crossed her arms. "Out."

"Yes, elder." You replied in a hushed whisper.

You exited the tent to find Teju laying on his back, sleeping. You kicked him in the gut, causing him to shoot up. "Ow!"

"Don't complain, we have to get back to the other Khans." You stated.

"What happened in there?" He asked.

"We are going to set out and finish what our ancestors started." You replied. "We shall become death and destruction incarnate."

When you got back to your camp, the wave of people that usually stopped you was not there. Instead, there were only torches burning around the perimeter. And humming from the clan's elders closer to the center of the camp.

When you arrived at the center, the lesser Khans of the clans that were sworn to you had all been gathered together. All sitting by the fire, waiting for you to arrive.

"Khan Naranbaatar has finally arrived." One of the Khans spoke.

You dismount your horse and say down. "Tell us of this vision that you have seen with the elder, Noble Khan."

"I have consulted the priest and the elders, about these visions the gods have given to me." You replied. "The priest showed me the bible he reads, and how accurate it was to the servant of death."

"What did the priest say?"

Ah yes, the priest. The man whose very existence sickened you. How could a man be so weak while serving an all-powerful god? "The verse he gave was... 'Then I looked and saw a pale horse. Its rider's name was Death, and Hades followed close behind. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword, by famine, by plague, and by the beasts of the earth.' He calls the book it is from 'Revelation'." You replied.

"For whom was this... Revelation meant for?" Teju, your brother asked.

"Everyone, except for the one riding the pale horse." You replied. "He would bring about the end of the world. And then there would be nothing left, save the rider and the one who follows him."

Another Khan spoke. "And what of the elder?"

"The elders…" You paused, trying to think of the words. What you saw was more confusing than when you normally spoke to them. But the vision was the clearest you had ever seen. "They said that the one who rides the pale horse will either save or destroy us."

The entire camp was silent, waiting for you to make the choice. "Then where do we go?" You heard one of the Khans ask. "The east is too powerful, and the Chinese have honored their agreement."

"Why not go across the sea, to the land that has already desecrated our honor and has defeated us in battle?" Another Khan spoke.

"Because the gods have protected them," Teju stated. "Their gods' divine winds destroyed our people's ships and the army that was going to be sent across to help our brothers. We shall not anger them again by following that path."

"SILENCE!" You shouted as you felt the anger bubble in your veins. You needed to think, and listening to those old fools was making you angry.

Then you saw the golden cross that you took in a raid against the west. It's craftsmanship easily surpassed all but the greatest metal workers in China. And there was also the stories of great wealth in the empire beyond the so-called frontier.

Defeating such a powerful empire will strike fear into all that may oppose you, and your people.

And the best part? The frontier was guarded by an ill-equipped boy, whose father, the unbroken one who had defeated your people before, was the only man you truly feared.

"The Christians say that the one who rides the pale horse shall bring the apocalypse to their world." You started. "For too long, the men of the west have grown wealthy, weak, and cowardly!" There were sounds of agreement as you stood up and walked around. "NOW THE UNBROKEN IS DEAD!" There were more cheers of agreement. "AND WE KILLED HIM!"

"YEAH!" The Khans beat their chests in approval.

"Now join me, and I will make you masters of this world!"

"YEAH!" The screams of the Khans were deafening. The old men wanted the glory of a death that would be remembered for all time. The younger wanted wealth, women, prestige, and power.

The fire boiled in your veins as you started to think. You would need to start your march soon. But now you were going to enjoy this moment. After all, history will be speaking of this day for as long as man will walk this earth.

Reward: The Mongols are coming.

AN: Enjoy.... Or be frightened.

For those of you who don't speak Mongolian, the name means 'sun hero'.

And do not be afraid."
protip: If you want to introduce fantastical things into a world with no magic? Use one of three things:
1. Religious visions
2. Mental illness.
3. ALL THE DRUGS!
The ground was covered by the ash in moments, so thick that you could barely move your feet, as you trudge along closer towards the rider on the white horse. Then you saw the skull morph into a face, a face you did not think you would ever forget.

1. For those of you who guessed those two boys from the start would be our enemies, congratulations.
2. Anime effects!

Oh yeah. He be trippin' balls.
You dismount your horse and sit down.
Something I missed in editing.
Ah yes, the priest. The man whose very existence sickened you. How could a man be so weak while serving an all-powerful god?
Because not every god gives their priests divine blessings.

Aaaaand going straight to the self-interpretation. They don't need to know the Elders didn't say a thing about it, or that's not how Revelations went. Why let that get in the way of your quest to KILL ALL THE THINGS!

Teju's also a spiritual guy.

Rule through fear and gifts.
Sounds about right for most leaders.

Oh my god and he has the same martial start that us... We are doomed ! It's the end of world !

"After his panick crisis"

Hm, hm, sorry for this little moment, it was'nt really professionnal. So, how do you think that we must resolve this little crisis ?

Have Natasha stick a fuckton of knives in him.

As for beating his horde? That's a bit of a longer list, ranging from making wester-style castles with years worth of supplies to praying that the weather goes on a three to four year heavy rain so as to muddy the ground and lower harvests.
