Given that Pennsy spent the whole of WWII hating islands out of existence, I have to assume that she has long since stopped getting XP from it and has become a spawn camper.

Maybe if she doesn't gain XP from doing, maybe she can from teaching. She can start with Johnston, since they previously teamed up to shell Guam.

Pennsy: Ok, we'll start with this sandbar. Then we can work up to something with some trees to knock down!

I thought she'd been summoned as her post refit, as evidenced by the wear on the rifle and the tattered clothes. Also Ari had cage masts, Pennsy had tripod masts.

If I recall from her summoning, she noticed that Ari looked like her WWI self, and then she noticed that she had changed too, including still having torpedo tubes.
The last standards were built with partial cage masts, but almost all the rest, including Pennsylvania were built with only cage masts. They were replaced with various types of tripods in the late 20s- early 30s

Here's something i posted in the original SB thread over a year ago and somehow didn't think to post it here till now. A pep talk from Iowa to Jersey inspired by Rocky.
--------------------------

"You remember way back when we first sailed together? Fought side by side? Remember what we told eachother? We were gonna be the best battleships in the world, the best anybody ever knew.

I watched you become the battleship you are and it was great, it was wonderful, every day was like a privilge. And when the time came to head into battle and take on the world, you did. But after Samar...you changed. You stopped being you.

You started looking at yourself through your own reflection and telling yourself youre no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame. Like a big shadow.

Let me tell you something you already know: this world isnt all sunshine and rainbows. Its a nasty place, and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Not you, me, or anybody is gonna hit as hard as life. But its not about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward, thats how winning is done!

Now if you know what youre worth, go out and show what youre worth but you gotta be willing to take the hits and not point fingers and say things aint the the way you want them to be because of Halsey or Enterprise or anybody! Cowards do that and that aint you! Youre better then that!

Im always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. Youre my sister, youre my blood. You, Mo, Wisky, are the best thing in my life. But untill you start forgiving yourself you aint gonna have a life...

Even torn apart as she is, Iowa's hull is something. Get her rebuilt, enough to put to sea, and she can at least go down fighting, and then maybe be reborn?

At this point, Iowa is pretty much just a hull. No guns, no mechanical elements (engines/transmissions). Even if the parts and supplies to make her seaworthy again were available, it would probably require gutting the bulkheads even MORE to re-install them.

Anyone else kind of wishing that when Jersey went aboard Iowa she self-summoned?
Are you sure? Because I actually imagined that when Jersey started bawling at the turret, she saw Iowa right then, even if nobody else could.

You've just gotten word your sister's dead. You just finished mourning your OTHER sister. Now, imagine going to the hospital to see your third sister in the ICU after she's gone through a third round of chemo/radiation therapy. She's skeletal for lack of a better description. THAT'S what Jersey's going through right now. The only thing keeping her from going catatonic is: "I'm going to kill those fuckers at Pearl first."

And maybe Jersey's clinging to the hope that if she does the killing well enough, her sisters WILL come back.

Refitting Iowa and putting her to sea in any kind of configuration (battleship, AA platform, fast transport for ship girls who can't keep up with the fleet) will take awhile and will take dedicated effort. After Pearl Harbor, some of the battleships were ready in 42, some weren't ready till 43 or 44. Overhauling ships that big and that old takes time. So if they did it would take at least a year, maybe 2 or 3, depending on what they have to do to her.

New Jersey....You have the Entire United States...The Whole World watching.

Come on Sailor, Stand up. The Watch has to be stood. And we are here to stand watch with you.

"The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him."- G.K. Chesterton

Like all quotes, it is not truly all encompassing, but for many is often true

She showed up as she was when commissioned. The rifle and her tattered coat were more meant to be symbolism than reflective of her refitting state. I admit I've done really poorly in maintaining her rifle's presence, but it it may have been a bit over the top to begin with. Still, no matter how many stitches or run through the laundry, that coat is still dirty and tattered as ever.
So right now Ari and Pennsy look like this?
For the most part, they do.

...That does get the soul moving, I have to say.

I wasn't supposed to receive my share of feels this week goddamnit. But... it was a good one jmp. Keep it up.

So... got some news that should send Johnston and the other Destroyers vibrating. HMCS Haida, the last Tribal Class Destroyer is apparently going to be declared the Flagship of the Royal Canadian Navy. In other words, our version of Constitution or Victory.

I dunno how people are gonna feel about a DD flagship. Could turn out to be plenty interesting.

She is known as Canada's "Fightingest Ship" and sank more tonnage during WWII then any other warship in the RCN as well as liking to bully German Torpedo Boats and set them on fire.

She's more then worthy of it.
I agree with that. Also, I'm glad that Haida will enjoy that status, even if I'm not a Canadian myself.

She is, however, nowhere near as adorable as Sackville. But then again, cuteness is not a good critical factor for choosing a flagship.

Oh yeah, as a ship she's more than worthy of it, I was thinking in the context of KanColle and other shipgirls hearing about a DD flagship.

Dunno why I find this so amusing, but she displaces about the same as Constitution; 2,250 tons deep load for Haida versus 2,200 tons for Constitution.
