Whoa, whoa, whoa, back the fuck up. They did what now? That is Very not kosher.
Up to 2011, CrW in SB was considered something of a cesspool of the site (eclipsed by BROB, which was worse, one story being that of the Tale of the Boner Wolf). You had all sorts of shit in CrW including, yes, stories involving fucking (and I mean literally) children and posting of porn and the like. Then Hollewanderer was made a Mod in charge of there and BROB and promptly went about clearing house on all the shit with the Moderator version of a flame thrower and scorched earth policy. It still pops up even then from time to time such as just before BROB was merged with the Roleplaying forum when you had a "Princess is You!" RP which involved people being placed into the bodies of, and I quite, "Fuckable fourteen year old Princesses" with them able to do anything they wanted with said bodies. There was also a MLP story that went as far as tentacle sex and the like about three years ago.

Hence the Mods having a no tolerance policy.

Yuro/Eurobeates' video on Missouri/Iowa....and probably JerJer.

Imagine the Shipgirls playing World of Warships as a training exercise...and some getting really angry at how they're portrayed. Like the IJN Torpedo Destroyers complaining about their torps having a trail, unlike the actual Long Lances they had in service. Or that certain ships don't have the proper gear they're supposed to.

"What. The fuck. Do you mean RADAR is something that's turned on and off? That's not how it works!"

"It amuses me that apparently crossing your opponent's T is a really bad idea, and that shooting directly over your bow is how you take less damage. How'd that go for Nishimura?"

"Sure, those AA guns can shoot with a few million pounds of overpressure coming out the guns right above their heads. Made of iron, those gunners are."

More AL, honestly. WSG typically avoids that particular

Ehhh...

depending on artist.

I'll agree to this. WSG is incredibly hit-and-miss at times. When they hit (Lex/Sara, Prince of Wales, Essex to an extent) they hit good, but when they miss (any American standard, most American destroyers e.g. O'Bannon, Wasp and the Yorktowns) they miss bad.

I was just wondering why Prinz Eugen ended up being a normal ship girl while the rest of the German ships ended up being hell spawn. I don't think her ending up being an American prize ship has anything to do with it because she was only a prize long enough to be examined and then sailed to bikini. This may have been discussed before but I lack the time to go digging to find it so i just thought i'd ask the question and see if anyone has any ideas.

Because JMPer stated that Germany is pretty much unable to summon shipgirls, so they had to go somewhere.

1. Pringles isn't the only German back. There's also SMS Hindenburg, Yavuz (SMS Goeben) and Midilli (SMS Breslau) around. The first of which is in Germany and the first summoned by Germany.

2. The Abyssals are not the ship girls. This has been stated in and out of universe at multiple points. Examples include there being more than two NelRods, Habbakuk...others too. Whatever the hell Abyssals are, they aren't the girls. Abyssmarck is no more Bismarck than I am. I imagine the battleship-that-hates-pants would say the same whenever she crops up.

3.

It's more Kriegsmarine than no ships in general now. I just haven't had the time to continue the Hindy plot because of the hell that was (most of) my student teaching >.>

Heck, didn't we have Abyssal-Toga at some point, just before Saratoga forceably self-summoned herself? I think whatever the Abyssals are, they aren't the souls of those ships... maybe... the idea of those ships? Hm. Actually, that's an interesting thought. The shipgirls are the souls of the ships made flesh (and steel), they represent the need of the ship to protect and the love of their crews. What if the Abyssals are the opposite? Not the souls of the ships as seen by their crews and countries, but the ideas of the ships as seen by their enemies? That would work very well for Abysspitz and Abyssmark, they were very feared and hated by the British and allies and that seems like it would lead to some very powerful Abyssals.

Ugh, sorry for the stream of consciousness dump there. I've had a very long week of a very long couple of months. Lots of 12 hour days staring at code that doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I swear at this point it's just doing it to mock me.

By joe, I think you're onto something here! It makes sense, terrifying sense.

More AL, honestly. WSG typically avoids that particular cliche, depending on artist. Or even design-by-artist (compare Lex to Sara). 'course, they both have designs that are really good.

WSG isn't bad, per say, but their art is just bland. Either the girl looks decent, the outfit looks decent, or the background looks decent. AL is at least more honest in their preferred methods of waifu handling, and throws pretense out the window for a variety of designs that actually work well. Both sides have their stinkers, to be sure, but to me the question is how much you're willing to divorce the reality of history from the realities in making visual design magic happen.

Both are better than Pacific, though, which is garbage.

I like this idea, though all I can think of now is what would happen if Abyssmark meets Eugen

Both girls stared each other down, and Prinz Eugen opened her mouth, "Do you really believe your own hype?"

There was a scream from the Abyssal, "I AM THE HYPE!!!"

I like some of the designs in Pacific, but... recently with the Submarines I had to groan. Such as the whole "Busty Uboat wearing an American flag bikini because she hates Germany due to West Germany being Nazi still and imprisoned her."

For reasons.

Then Albie puts a half-dozen torpedoes up Abyssmarck's skirt.
Albie: All duds? SECNAV dammit!

My main issue is they half-ass any sort of symbolism or concept they're working into the art, and I hit this issue a lot with their cruisers. Roman Revival is a really good look to do oil pastel work in even if the lines are uncompromising in the modern manga style, and in more than a few of their ships the Pacific group does well. Then there are the fuckups like St. Louis, who's outfit consists of one wet tabbard and a blue belt, or the submarines who get two reels of dental floss and instructions to make it work. All the art mastery in the world won't save you when that's your design.

There's a GDocs add-on that makes sure the BB code formatting transfers ok. No idea why SV's post box flattens it.
It's not that. SV doubles all my carriage returns.

It's a bit of a complicated issue. @Skywalker_T-65 was handling the European theater, so you'd assume any German ships would be showing up in his eurobote omakes. But I'd asked him not to use any German ships to preserve the "wut?" factor of Pringles coming back American. That lead to a bit of an issue where there weren't any German ships showing up and we needed an explanation beyond "jmpr doesn't want to spoil a joke." Also, Puddin wasn't just a prize, she was actually commissioned into the USN as unclassified miscellaneous vessel USS Prinz Eugen IX-300.

The in-universe reason is that the Bundesmarine can't come up with a good summoning ritual. Germany's mostly inland, so the "if we loose control of the seas EVERYTHING WILL DIE" angle doesn't work like it does for Britain or Japan. And the "rah rah! Nationalism! Look at how awesome we were in the 40's" is off the table for obvious reasons.
