The Abyssal war started as a trickle And Objects over a Century old can manifest on their own.
If she came back she would be a non person no identity But But there have been instances of people losing their memory with no identfication and rebuilding completely from scratch . That is how she could be Cv-1.

To be frank, her being a possible shipgirl depends on a number of factors really. Such as the nature of Abyssals. For example, how long have Abyssals really been around? How many reports of "Sea Monsters", "Sirens" and the like have been in fact Abyssals and it's only recently that they've gotten enough numbers? Mostly due to the World Wars. Or Echidna, the "Mother of Monsters" described as a half-woman, half-snake who lived in a cave with Typhon, the "Father of Monsters". Tell me that does not sound like a Abyssal Princess with a Water Oni guardian? And if shipgirls have been around, some might have fought Abyssals and others, having never activated their rigging, might have passed as humans until they just died.

That's not to say that Jane's mother was a shipgirl though.
 
Why do you think she's a shipgirl. "Langley" isn't that unusual of a name, and there's plenty of regular people who like model airplanes. It's possible she's nothing more than an ordinary woman. Then again...

It's very unlikely, yes. For it to actually work out the timeline has to be a bit unusual since Jane is...nine or something? Which means if her mother is a shipgirl she would have had to have manifested well before the Abyssal War and shipgirl summonings were even a thing, and also somehow established a legal civilian identity and adapted to human life entirely on her own without (much) aid.

On the other hand, people keep naming Jane's mother after USN ships. Or giving her very shipgirl hobbies.

Langley is a reasonable name. And Jane's the daughter of a US Navy Officer, and spends most of her time hanging around shipgirls. Plus, in the real world, KanColle created a huge surge in interest for model ships. Imagine what would happen if the cute warship girls weren't just Anime characters, but real people who were really saving your country on a daily basis.

Jersey: It's because Iku is lewd. Mutsu does not look lewd. Mutsu looks fucking hot. Like... seriously, Admiral Richardson's a lucky lucky man.
 
Can I just say again that I love how people pair other people off? Whether it's cute battleships being paired off with Admirals and doctors, or pairing Rexy with Alan Grant (my fic), shippers going to ship.
