Image works fine for me...nice work! Always thought she'd be younger, though...more like a 5- or 6-year old. And for some reason I pictured her with black hair. But you're the artist, so...

Tin cans and CVEs, as a group, look 10-12, with the exception of some of the bigger ones like the Duckies and Poi, who look 14-16.

Ahh...I'm guessing the newer the DD, the older they look? Hence why Shimakaze can wear the outfit she does and not have even Japanese censors screaming about indecency? LOL

No, hull size. The Duckies(Akizuki-class) are, physically, on the large size for destroyers(2,700 tons), and Shimakaze is even larger(3,300 tons), which means she looks older.

On the other hand, because spoopy shipgirl magic is spoopy, anything "bigger" than a destroyer looks like an adult, whatever their height.

Iowa has a new exhibit! Admiral Nimitz himself came on board to speak when Iowa was recommissioned in 1951, and they flew one of his five-star flags from the mast.

We managed to get the exact flag flown that day. Our newest exhibit in the Officer's Wardroom!

Awesome! Sad that Spruance never got one of those, though...
Actually, there were several attempts to get Spruance the fifth-star. Basically Spruance got shafted because of politics.

The problem was only eight positions were made for a 5-star, four Navy and four Army. It became a choice between Halsey and Spruance after Admirals Ernest J. King, William D. Leahy, and Chester W. Nimitz. were promoted in Dec 1944.

Problem was Senate Armed Services Chairman Carl Vinson was a Halsey supporter and blocked all motions to promote Spruance. This despite Spruance having support from Admirals King and Leahy. It must have been a long fight as Halsey didn't get promoted until Dec 1945, a full year after the other three.

Pretty sure five-star can only be earned during time of war.
Wait.. Omar Bradley was promoted in 1950, after WW2.

Never mind, the Korean War was several months old when he was promoted.

Bradley was only given a 5th star upon his promotion to chairman of the joint chiefs, so that he wouldn't be outranked by MacArthur, his subordinate.

Other than that, a fifth star can only be awarded in a congressionally-declared war, the last of which was World War Two.

The real question should be. What kind of presents do you think Ari will get?
I think she needs a cute dress. Tasteful (by her prudish standards) but eye catching

In the other thread, I proposed a full starter kit on shipgirl first aid / 'field medic' (including lessons from Vestal), so that she wouldn't feel as helpless/useless if something like the Tosa incident happens again.

A large order of bespoke fancy donuts is also an option. :D

112 years old. Even Kongou can't compete with *many explosions*

You're off by 10 years; she was launched in 1915, which would make her 102 today. The Dess is actually ~3 years older.
