I have seen breasts like Atago's turn gay men straight for exactly as long as they're in freefall. Cameron does not like Atago's figure, no, but his brain respects the laws of probability and physics it ignores.

Seriously, though, stereotyping aside? That's a myth. You don't really see any nonstandard distribution in preferences in that demographic, unless the woman in questtion happens to be white-ish. In that case, ass prefernce is for ease of viewing as the front generates too many questions.

Uh, that's actually not true at all. The ass is considered almost on the same level as breasts when it comes to sexual attractiveness and has been for a very long time. You see it across cultures and times.
 
I think he might have subbed an 'L' into there. Demographic? Stereotyping about liking aft? Mention about white-ish women?

That strikes me as a black stereotype. So, to me, it looks like there was confusion with back being rendered into black.

Never said he was.

He's already on record for being an ass/legs man, with a hefty touch of being a back/spine-curve man (smart boy).

On the other hand, nobody said anything about Atago's own personal 'wish list' of eye-candy/cuddling buddy, other than it must include Alaska in some fashion, even if indirectly. And for that matter, just because someone isn't exactingly made up of your favorite combination of features, doesn't mean you don't find them attractive at all. Just less attractive when compared to what you're really after.*

Alaska is Cameron's girlfriend.
Atago is Alaska's girlfriend, and by way of association, Cameron's other girlfriend.

Except no hanky-panky happens between Atago & Cameron, ever, unless Alaska is in the room. It just....never happens, and all three are cool with that. They'll snuggle at most if she isn't there.

Gale/Cameron/Richardson: "Ship-human relationships are weird."

Goto: "Meh. I have a perfectly normal 1:1 relationship. Its just that she's weird."

*I'm a legs guy myself, and as long as she can put on a LBD without people thinking she's a flat pre-teen (Kaede is....gifted in being leggy, and how. Up front....not so much) I'm fine with that. That doesn't mean I'm going to ignore a well filled out bikini top. It just means I'll admire it from a distance, and then go back to oogling legs. Cameron is in the position of his girlfriend being totally okay with him having a set of massive badonkadonks that belong to another girl get put in his face, literally, to the point of her smushing him into them a bit. And said other girl being fine with all this. Then all three sleeping together in bed, spooning.

On this topic, it's rather interesting to note I'm not actually shooting for a harem end for Cameron-

@theJMPer objects loudly from the Discord calling me a liar

-as a primary objective. Rather, right now the him/Alaska/Atago thing is more therapeutic than anything else. Minus the fact KanColle is usually set to comedic things versus tragedy and drama when it's an apros setting for both, the fact of the matter is that all the ships have issues in some way or form that affect everything they do. Specifically, Alaska has what are technically abandonment issues (but that's got too many pop-psych misnomers attached so I'm never saying it again) and Atago's got one of the standard drama devices for a KanColle setting, that being horrifying nightmares on an intermediate basis.

As much as this story's focus is battleships doing battleship things, there's also a lot of room for character work, and that's mostly what this was. Alaska's desire to hold her friends close might occasionally interfere with her other social senses, vis. keep the boyfriend to yourself, which could be a problem if it wasn't for the fact the person right now is Atago. Considering Atago's basket of wartime issues (submarines, all the submarines) fighting off her otherwise upbeat nature, she's in need of help sometimes and badly. As such, enter Cameron, a boyfriend who's possessed of the rare gift of equal parts dedication and willpower. Even though he's head-over-heals for Alaska and willing to give her half the world on a platter, he's still able to keep it together when Atago comes out the door at him in horrible shape. Likewise, he doesn't actually have a conniption fit in the deleted scene, and manages to have the mental fortitude to stand up to and support Atago for her bad week. Rolling with Alaska's devolution to moeblob later was also important, as it helped make sure everyone knew which end was up.

(The deleated scene was going to be set Wednesday night, as Cameron is MSSB'd into seeing what she sees for the dreams and feeling what she feels. It got cut for time restrictions)

Then we get to Alaska, and her place in the mess vis-a-vis her stated issues. Which will be a big fat To Be Continued from this, because I've got plans I need to check out with the author.
 
Yeah, I didn't want to say I this was going to become 'Laska-Cameron-'Tago, but I think it is. Mainly because the two cruisers are so close. Was kind of surprised another relationship didn't become a triple (Richardson-Mutsu-Hiei).
 
Re-reading some parts, I kind of get the feeling there will be a Frisco-Lou-Prinz triple as well. And poor Kirishima...she has feelings for Wash but Wash only has eyes for Gale. The littlest Kongo needs someone, too! (Though I hope she doesn't transfer her hots for Wash onto Crowning; could get kinda awkward with Jersey...)
 
Sometimes I feel like the odd one out in not wanting a fleet end or triple. But I'm the strange one who likes stable monogamous relationships :V
