...well Wiskey's dead

TDS might be able to handle the torpedoes that U-511 will be slinging, the torpedo it will most likely use the G7aT1 Torpedo has a warhead of 617 pounds of Hexanite for it's warhead. Would the Iowa class Battleship's TDS be able to stop that? Granted Hexanite is about 7% more powerful than pure TNT, but the standard charge was 60% TNT and 40% Hexanite.

And yea, there was death upon the land and o'er the sea and in the skies above.

A death delivered by hate and scorn and loss.

And man and ship wept amongst the fire.

And in one, desolate voice they cried out...

"FFFFFUUUUCK!"

Hmm... they can, can't they...

Oh they can, the normal projectile length for the 16in/50 Caliber Mark 2 and 3 Gun was about 64 inches. Which means that the HC Mark 13 and 14, HE-CVT Mark 143, ICM Mark 144, HE-ET/PT Mark 145, and oh fuck the W23 Nuclear shell can be fired by this bastard, at least it can fire Mark VIIIs, those are 72 inches long. Still scratch my last about it not having Nuclear Shells, Pray to god that is doesn't have them!

That ain't good, then again the 16in/50 Caliber Mark 2 and 3 Gun was supposed to be the main armament for the Iowa class Battleship and they were the basis for the 16in/50 Caliber Mark 7 Naval Rifle.

My sources:

USA 16"/50 (40.6 cm) Mark 2 and Mark 3 - NavWeaps

USA 16"/50 (40.6 cm) Mark 7 - NavWeaps

stop helping them...

dude I'm joking. besides there might be an issue on wither the hoist could handle the wait change/ breach can contain pressure increase.

Working pressure is about the same, with the 16in/50 Caliber Mark 7 producing 18.5 tons per square inch of working pressure with the 16in/50 Caliber Mark 2 and 3 Naval Gun produces about 18 tons per square inch of working pressure. The powder charge for the 16in/50 Caliber Mark 2 and 3 Naval Rifle was 700 pounds, while the Mark 7 used a 660 pound charge, granted the shell for the Mark 2 and 3 weighed less, but in theory a charge like that would be able to kick a Mark VIII a pretty good distance as well. However the reason the pressure is less on the Mark 2 and 3 gun compared to the Mark 7 is because the former's chamber is bigger by about 3 cubic inches, doesn't sound like a lot, but something tells me that in stuff like this, that is quite the number.

You know if Akrons still following the group the battles going to provide her a perfect opening to introduce herself to Sara.

*hyperventilating*
Oh boy abyssals with Katies what a wonderful image

Tell me about it!

I mean I even said how I felt about that cock-up a few posts ago. God, I mean, Katies is a giant "FUCK YOU MOTHERFUCKER!" To whoever you are shooting them at, although, if the Abyssal uses them, does that mean we can send a F-16 out with a single 340 kiloton surprise slung underneath it's wing, in a toss bombing attack?

well the good news is that according to Navweaps Alaska can hole punch both Lex's belt and deck from max range.

*Sighs with relief* That is good news, that is really good news. Now we just have to pray that this Abyssal doesn't play dirty and fires a salvo of Katies. Mainly because Katies detonating in close proximity, with ships that are fully armed and fueled, ready to fight. Well the fireball and thermal pulse will do all sort of ugly things to a ship.

What about Alaskas armor against 16" shells?

At range, with angling maybe, but that deck is only 3.8 to 4.0 inches thick, the belt is a little better, at it's thickest point it is 9 inches thick, but it thins down to like 5 inches. Alaska has to stay at range and angle herself in order to stand a chance, however she also has to get close enough so she doesn't have to worry about plunging fire.

If the Abyssals are going Fallout then the entire world is going to need new pants. Also it's been 10 years and this is best we can fortify such a critical area? We couldn't bolt some naval guns, armor, and AAA together into a defense platform come on people.

Sara's AA would butcher Akron and Sara's guns out range Alaska's.
Anyway you slice it it's going to be bloody.

If that Battlecruiser has radar, wouldn't you just be able to screw it over with Electronic Countermeasures? Because to my knoweldge no radar of any type doesn't like being blasted with Electromagentic jamming, of course another thing you could do is have B-52s fly overhead and as the battle starts, have them dump a load of chaff, that ought to screw over radar rangefinders. Might make it a little less bloody.

Akron may be able to get an opening strike off while Sara's confusedly thinking that nobody could possibly be stupid enough to send an airship against her.

At least if it weren't for the fact that she doesn't have any actual weapons. Best she could do is drop a strongly-worded letter down onto Sara's deck.

Her planes though, actually nevermind, they can't carry bombs, they just have a pair of .30 caliber machine guns.
