Anderson Quest: Killing Vampires and Werewolves and Leprechauns (Hellsing/Bloodborne)

I'm a little bit suspect of old gascan going down from one surprise stab. I mean I know he wasn't expecting it and it made for a nice scene, but he can survive people shoving their arm in his chest multiple times. Even the regular hunter can survive things he doesn't expect, like the old ladies face gouge. Not complaining but still.

Game mechanics.

Gameplay vs. story.

That was obviously a cutscene, dude.

[x] You're in a cemetary. Give he and his wife their last rites.
[x] Ask Eileen to say a few words.
[x] Retrieve Viola's Brooch for the girls.
[X] take with you father Gascoigne weapons, to use in his honor.

Can I also say what a pleasant change it is to read an adventure story in which the hero is a devout and practicing* Christian, with other readers actually voting for him to evangelize and spread the word of God? And that the veracity of his faith is being played at least ambiguously straight?

*And malpracticing, but you'll never find a perfect Christian.

Would you say that Jesus is the only perfect Christian? Honest question here.
Yes.

Technically, he's Jewish, so he can't be the perfect Christian.
How are the two mutually exclusive?

If I recall correctly, the early Church born on the day of Pentecost was formed entirely of Jews. Gentile converts came later, after Jesus sent Peter a vision specifically telling him "Go evangelize the Gentiles".

Later, there was controversy in the Church between the Jews and Gentiles, surrounding the question of whether the Gentiles needed to keep the laws of the old Jewish covenant with God. The answering apostle (I think it was also Peter) basically said, "No, and why would you want to burden them with laws even you, a born and bred Jew, were never able to properly uphold?"

Actually, that was Paul. But Peter eventually agreed with him on that point.

[X]Force the big gate open.

Yeah how DO those levers cause stuff to open or come down anyway? Specialized invisible Messengers?
YES, actually.

inspect the levers when your Insight is high, and you'll see that Messengers are responsible for at least the one that opens when you present the Chief Hunter's Emblem.

You know, The Captain is described as having the smile of a chld waking up from a REAAAALLY nice dream when dies in the Hellsing series.

How well would he fair here?
Depressive sulk. He seemed happy to get AWAY from that mess. Maybe he was bound to the Nazis or the Major in particular by some kind of werewolf code of honor.

But if he decided to go forth and kick ass, he could tango eye-to-eye with the Cleric Beast and Vicar Amelia... and then turn them over his knee and spank them.
