Uh, I can certainly deny that. Anderson was, as I've said before, a murderous psychopath, a 'hero' only in the sense of the ancient Greeks; he was great without being good, like Achilles, who abandoned his friends to die because another man took the slave-girl he wanted to rape. He was devoted to his church, fine. He liked children, fine, but even then his teachings to those children were despicable - remember "violence is only to be used against monsters or heretics"? Literally millions of people were, to Anderson, nothing but meat to be slaughtered.
Civilized society puts people like Anderson down like rabid dogs, or locks them away forever in prisons where their savagery can be contained. His existence - like the existence of Section XIII Iscariot in general - was at best a necessary evil in the horrible world of Hellsing, and on the day the last vampire died any sane Pope would have put that entire force, Anderson included, up against a wall, buried them deep, and forgotten they ever existed.
