Okay, so, I've been thinking about the heart crystal and why it improves mechanicus relations with us, and I *think* I know why:

Machine Spirits. The Psuedo-AI lodged in every advanced piece of ancient human technology, which may or may not already be bolstered by the mechanicus's beliefs in their existence and veneration of such. I'm willing to bet that the heart crystal pushes them from 'vaguely intelligent' to 'straight up sophonts' which for the Mechanicus would be a BIG DEAL, especially if it lets them be effected by the Sophont crystal. @ilbgar123 how close am I?

Heart Crystals are some of the most long-term Crystals. A Machine Spirit will be noticeably more lively under the influence of one, and the effect won't entirely disappear if the Crystal is removed. The longer the MS is exposed, the greater the effect. The adepts notice the increase in activity and performance this generates. Although they don't immediately jump to full sapience, they definitely start edging closer. If a lifeless puppet can grow a Heart, why can't a spaceship, or a tank?

Oh noes we turned the Admech into Peewee's world.

Would the process be sped up with a hypothetical Crystal/Rune of Machines/Machine Spirits?

@ilbgar123
How would more advanced and potentially malevolent Machine Spirits for Naval Ships and Titans react near these crystals?

Random accidents involving people they disliked would not be uncommon. Nobody could prove anything, except perhaps the Mechanicus, but if the Machine-Spirit disliked them, surely it had a good reason?

Now, actively malevolent MS would be like less powerful Daemon-ships/Daemon Forgeworlds, where the world itself fights you.

@ilbgar123 can the Big E now have a machine gun gauntlet that fires infinite humanity crystals at enemies that infect and convert them into humans?

Big E: Your [Insert Species Here] will be converted to superior lifeforms and assimilated into our Collective Humanity. Resistance is Futile.

Would such a crystal help against chaos corruption?

Eh, probably not. It makes the machines better at what they do, more energy-efficient, and tougher. Chaos resistance, excepting the somewhat roundabout method of Gellar Fields, isn't really going to stem from Crystals like these. It's kind of like acting if Earth Crystals would make earthen walls more Chaos resistant. The Crystals themselves will resist Chaos' influence, but the earth around them will not.

In that case we need to keep an eye on those. We've yet to meet any volatile machines like Dread Claws but we can keep that in mind. Speaking of which, since we didn't pick Investigate the Machine Spirits this turn, as a logical consequence of investigating how our crystals effect the Mechanicus' machines, we can learn of the more unsteady MS. We wouldn't want to end up with things like Yandere Psychic Titans on the loose.

EDIT:
This actually happens.
Kharybdis Assault Claw

The AI of the Drop Pod tended to bond with a person to the point that it would indiscriminately attack anyone who wasn't its handler to the point that the latter had to be summoned to calm the Drop Pod out of its frenzy. If the handler somehow died, then the Kharybdis whose handler perished had to be jettisoned or destroyed since it would attack anyone who even looked at it. Thus no Space Marine Chapter has a single one these days, though Chaos Marine Legions still have some in their armouries.

Or even better develop neural architecture tech, grind up humanity crystals into dust, and combine the two together. FLOOD HUMANITY!

Actually, developing genemods to improve human neurology is probably a viable route to raising average caps to 200 when combined with Sophont and Humanity crystals. Of course, by that point the issue won't be caps so much as training speed, which is why at some point we should work on improving the ALD.

just realized we could fulfill TTSD Emperor's random musing on how all of humanity should be one collective hivemind with Big E in charge if we went Flood Humanity

@ilbgar123 once our crystal diety is born and if the Emperor allows it to live does this make the god/goddess Big E's granddaughter? and now Serras is now a mommy? And now Serras would have to tell all her brothers that they are now uncles! :V

I'm imagining PigDoks being uniquely suited to deal with those when looting occurs.

Did that interlude already. The answer is that it considers her it's mother, at very least, and Serras isn't inclined to disagree, since it's correct in the technical sense.

*Realizes that Serras is the kind of mom that lets her kid do whatever they want*

That would make for an interesting Ork tribe. A group of Orks that specialize in wrangling and "taming" vehicles with turbulent personalities.

It hits all Skills with a +5000, which totals a +15000 to the Crystal Checks, which means that the sets from Evasion onward only need 1 action to max out.

Crystal Deity Hydaelyn: (Evasion/Psyker tutor) SL 5/10. A Crystal Deity who was born of the collected psychic energies devoted to the concepts embodied by the lesser Crystals which fall under her purview. After determining the lack of religious inclinations towards her, the Emperor allowed for her existence.

We have a name. Apparently she trains Evasion??? Would have figured it'd be Invention or Forging, since those are more directly related to crystals.
