We should get the Elementalism perks.
They allow us to become Artillery, actually having an effect on ship-to-ship battles beyond Tactical considerations.

I can back this.

I've got a 30k AU I'm half working on, and one of the best parts of it (in my opinion) is how Magnus' Gloriana, the Photep, doesn't have a 'Primary Weapon' like Vulkan's Deathfire Cannon or Angron's Ursus Claw: because Magnus serves that role himself.

And I want that to be the same for Seras.

@ilbgar123

Have you considered allowing omakes and rewards for them? Possibly to flesh out Serras' personality (her personality is still lvl 1, btw) and expand on what sort of effects she's had on the general populace?

If so, I would suggest enforcing a 750 word-count to 1k word-count minimum, and that the prizes be a +5 or even +10 to a single roll of the omake author's choice.
He already has an omake reward policy.

Btw should we try to get the Emperor's attention? Get involved in canon earlier?
No. We should concentrate on improving ourselves. IC all we know is that there's something that kinda-sorta represents the concept of order; that's not necessarily a good thing though: just like adherence to a set of rules doesn't mean that the rules are themselves good/just.

Really just having a program to have people clean up after them selves and place their trash into replicator would work.
Given how much power replicators are stated IC to consume, that's probably infeasible, even in 40k terms.

Although I would prefer we set up an education system first instead but it's still something to keep in mind.
I somewhat agree, the bonuses for Education: General are really quite good, and if we can have an All-50 level of skill as standard on our planet our people will be that much more able to defend themselves, as well as building new things.

On the other hand, you'd probably make a bad first impression that way, as he'd likely consider you reckless for following a stronger psychic presence than yourself to it's source.
Indeed. I would recommend against it; as stated above, just because something has an 'order' doesn't make it good.

Holy shut it amazing how consistently terrible that was. Can we go back over those?
That's one reason I wanted to get all those Education: General perks -- they give bonuses to so much. (And they weren't actually too terrible; IC they can simply be explained as us finally meeting something that's challenging and "at our level", giving us an IC goal/reason to do better.)

Canon information just tells us who are enemies are and what they want, not what actions they will take or how to thwart them.
I'm not sure even that is accurate at this point. There's been a lot of changes and that Heartless incursion might even have impacts on the Ruinous Forces, the Orks, and/or the Eldar that were involved: i.e. preparing for that sort of threat to happen again.

Maybe, though then you'd risk making Shards of Nothing, which do... weird things to physics.
Interesting; sounds like it could be quite fun.

Balance implies acceptance of component parts.
I don't want to accept chaos as one part of a balance, I want to fight it.
In If the Emperor had a Text-to-Speech Device, Magnus explains about the relationship of Chaos to concepts and how the Imperial Truth the Emperor was advocating was really setting the stage for another Chaos God, one of Unbelief, to be made.

Rather we try to build our own story first like the other Primarch rather than base all our actions on OOC information. Really find that kind of thing annoying.

Think about the bonuses if it reaches 1000, or 2000! That's +6000 and +12000, respectively! With that kind of checks, we can actually AFFORD to be idealistic, because we'll be able to REALIZE those ideals, and even the Emperor won't be able to stand up to THOSE bonuses.

...Also, I want to go full Paragon because I hope that, one day, we might be able to re-awaken his own inner idealism. The idealism that died long ago, crushed by reality.
I like the idealistic route too!

Again, really not happy with all the OOC reasons for our actions. I mean can't we freaking just do our own thing without thinking about the Emperor every step of the way and having that influence our decisions? Because that kind of thing really makes me wish that more QMs made a policy to not have OOC reasons be spoken of in story to influence votes.
It's been bugging me too, but a lot of people are getting caught up in the OOC knowledge.

We have 3 perk point now. What should we prioritize?
We should grab some of the Education: General perks.

What is our FTL capability right now? Do we have ships capable of going FTL, and can we navigate to other systems?

One of our main limitations is resources, and if we could range out to acquire more resources that would be great. We could also start building up a multi-world collective. I'd like to beat Guilliman's record.

You've got Navigators, you just don't use them often because you don't leave the system often as of yet. They have a limit of 10 lightyears per day.

There's actually a crit option on the RER table that causes a (dead) rogue planet to pop into the system for a couple years and you can rip big hunks out of it for spaceship materials.

QM! We can continue the research and imrovement of the crystalls, right? After all, It would make sense for us to try and improve that line of tech, given our anti-Chaos focus.

Yes.

More or less this, but with a 500-word minimum.

So have people started thinking of which Traitor Primarchs to SL with and attempt to save? Because I highly doubt we'll be able to convert all of them.

Albert SL 5->6.
Today, you were helping your father with his paperwork, mostly because you had practiced your administrative skills very little and wanted to stay in practice. Also because your mother was starting to show her pregnancy. Apparently having twin little sisters was your future.

AN: Rolled a 1d2 for the number of kids, got a 2. Rolled a 1d100 for boy or girl 1-50 meaning boy. 1-100 meaning girl. Got an 84 and a 63. Please limit your rule 63 jokes.

Serras Administration Check: 2 Checks passed.

vs.

Albert Administration Check: 3 Checks passed. AN: He's been practicing.

As the hours passed and your father worked through his paperwork faster than you, you were rather surprised to discover he was simply better at it than you. It was somewhat frustrating to be less talented at something you would absolutely need if your plans were to come to fruition. Then again, he had been doing this for decades.

"Something wrong Serras? You seem upset." Your father asked, startling you out of your thoughts. While you were much better at reading people, both physically and emotionally, your poker face was still terrible, and your father was very much your better. While you suspected you'd want a better grasp of hiding your emotions before negotiating on the planetary level, for now it was beneficial.

"I'm just a little surprised you're so much better at this than me. I guess I've just gotten used to being better at... everything, than everybody else. I'm aware of the fallacy inherent in assuming you're better than everyone else, but it's kind of been true so far." You admit. When given anything resembling equivalent training, you massively outperform literally everyone, and you already do so in your usual fields, so you'd just started getting used to being better at things than almost everyone you'd meet.

"I guess this was a good experience for you then. Being proud of your skills is always good, but there's always going to be someone better at something." Your father comments. Huh, he didn't start preaching that time.

AN: Due to hitting SL 5 you can read your parents well enough to choose the correct option, thanks to passing the twenties in Perception: People.

"Say, father. You used to launch into a big speech when I said something like that. Why was that?" You ask.

Diplomacy Check: 2 Checks passed. -50 to difficulty. -125 from Perks.

Speech: Persuasion: 100+100(Education bonus)+210(Education Perks)+125(Paragon): 535. Required: 200-175=25. Passed.

535. Required: 50. Passed.

535. Required: 75. Passed.

535. Required: 100. Passed.

280/370 to Level 28.

"I... suppose you deserve to know." he sighed. "I had an older brother. He was always jealous of me, because I got chosen to be heir by our father, who saw that my diplomatic and administrative skills and talents were superior, though Phillip was always the better general and fighter. Unfortunately, we already had a general, and the army's entire purpose is fighting battles that can't be won by individuals." His expression grew hard.

"A cult managed to get their claws in him, using his own jealousy to turn him into something his old self would have been disgusted by. I tried to talk him down, but Celestine's skill with her pistol is the only reason I didn't lose my head. He ended up willingly sacrificing himself to summon a dozen Warp Horrors of the more martial variety, which rampaged through the city until the Witch Hunters got things under control. That was about 8 years before you arrived. More than 15 years, and what hurts most is that I couldn't save him. From the cultists, or himself." His voice softened near the end.

"Ever since, I've been quick to give 'words of wisdom' to anyone who looks like they might need it. Just in case. I'd rather come off as a little cheesy or annoying than go through a repeat of that. I suppose I'm just confident you'll make the right choices, though a little advice never hurt anyone." he admitted.

Karma: 250. Required: 250. Gained 50 Karma.

"If you couldn't save him, then he was probably already gone, replaced by a caricature of the worst parts of himself without any of the good things left." You reassure him. You'd seen what happened to the people who were corrupted by Warp Horrors. Chunks of the PDF soldiers seconded to the Witch Hunters were regularly culled, due to the mimetic nature of the foes they fought. In fairness, being brainwashed explained a lot about cults.

Your father considered this. "...I hope that's true." He said with a sigh. "Though it is nice to tell someone else about this. I do feel better about it. A little anyway." He clapped his hands. "That's enough moping for one day. Back to work." You nodded your agreement. Prodding him further would be picking at a wound that you didn't know how to heal, and weren't sure could fully heal.

Reward: Albert SL has advanced from 5 to 6. Karma now 300. +15 to Speech Skills. AN: You can't force someone to not be hurting any more, not really. It's an old scar at this point. Also, if you were wondering about Percy's soul-wound...

Speech: Persuasion: 100. You can convince even the most fanatical of people of your viewpoint with ease. Even the greatest fanatics can be persuaded of your views being correct easily.

Speech: Persuasion: 115. You can convince even the most fanatical of people of your viewpoint with great ease. Even the greatest fanatics can be persuaded of your views being correct pretty easily.

Speech: Diplomacy: 100. Compromising between two groups of howling fanatics is easy for you. Compromises you broker will stick even if the governing body is entirely replaced, even after mass executions carried out at your order.

Speech: Diplomacy: 115. Compromising between two groups of howling fanatics is pretty easy for you. Compromises you broker will stick even if the governing body is entirely replaced, even after mass public executions carried out at your order.

Speech: Intimidation: 100. You are a paragon of terror when you want to be, despite seeming like a peaceful giant under most circumstances. Only die-hard fanatics, rallying around some kind of champion, will avoid a horrendous morale debuff when fighting you and will probably break immediately upon losing their champion.

AN: Albert and Celestine SLs will be unavailable next year due to their newborn children. Only one of their SLs can be taken per year for the following four years.

So have people started thinking of which Traitor Primarchs to SL with and attempt to save? Because I highly doubt we'll be able to convert all of them.
Well, some have been making noise about how Chaos is going to switch-up who they target. Personally, I disagree with that, if only because the original traitors were traitors for a reason. Their backgrounds and circumstances made them more vulnerable, less loyal, or simply more prone to conflict over (relatively) stupid reasons. Since the big change in this quest is a female Warp-copy landing in a completely different part of the galaxy...i really doubt we're going to have much impact on their origins, and consequently their collective issues with each-other and everything else. Damage control all the way. Magnus will probably be the easiest to sway to safer thinking with a good argument, while Angron 'might' have a cure or treatment in the works if we really level medicine/technology/biomancy. Not too familiar from the rest, but personally it sounds like Russ might be the most difficult to convert from being an unlikable prick, though whoever was so focused on strong>weak will also be a problem. All of this assuming we can stay on Big E's good-side as well for support and credibility.

Edit: And I realize Russ was loyal...but he really contributed to a lot of the problems. A lot.

I'd like to try Angron.

Just getting the nails out of his head would be a good step in the right direction and with our biomancy and education we should be able to do it.

Honestly...part of me wants us to not be able to save Angron, and give him a 'merciful death' before the Nails turn him into a blood-soaked monster. To let him end before his name and memory can be staind forever by the blood of worlds.

Because to me, that makes for a better story.

I say we should remove Horus at the first opportunity if he starts showing weird behaviour ticks, if only because he has a greater chance of becoming corrupted (but not necessarily so, in before Guilliman becomes 'the first traitor'). Angron is a mess that should be mercykilled to avoid problems in the future.

Horus was perfectly fine until suddenly he wasn't though.

Most of the other Traitors had the big screaming flaws that somehow got ignored. Horus' flaw was that he was too much like his father, and once he was convinced to let the galaxy burn thanks to some naggling doubts that were aggravated by a soul-wound and convalescence in a Chaos Cult--well, he went all the way in it.

Ouch, new update hurt a little. Its a hard pill to swallow being the useless one in comparison to siblings and people-close-enough-to-be-siblings. Then you realize there are people out there even more talented than them and well...not much point to continue living, eh? But I digress. Off topic nonsense.

As always when these kinds of things come up, I'd like to 'save' Magnus, Perturabo, Curze and the Twins, in that order.

Magnus for sure.

I've mentioned it once or twice, but if we start early and work at it hard, I feel that being able to keep him from going down his canon path is certainly possible.

Preventing or reducing the effects of Nikea means the Crusade is far better equipped to deal with Daemons and other psyker shenanigans, and getting Magnus to contact the Emperor differently keeps the Human Webway project from being destroyed.
