Well it's a thing. That translates as ridge lift.
Huh. Learn something new every day.

Although it occurs to me: If we actually went with my party idea, we would have:
A Sorcerer that is kind, patient, understanding, and the voice of reason in the party
A Rogue that is Pious, and perhaps Zealous that works for charities
A Wizard that has to work hard to think beyond immediate pleasure
A Fighter with skill ranks in, like, everything (Alternatively, an Artificer with a really cool golem)
And a Ranger that hates the forest and everything in it

The worst part? For our world, this is rapidly becoming normal.

Ah, the Ridcully school of Ranger-ship.

It shouldn't be obscure.

-[X] Bring in the dragonflies, 504, and authority

Anyone without willpower training is just going to be another person we need to keep track of.Cannon fodder isn't useful against demons, it's just going to cower until it gets sacrificed, goes insane, or sees something it shouldn't.

Any and all future psykers that pop up we're going to want to direct at least one or two of them towards studying pyromancy.

Using holocaust on that son of a bitch and erasing her soul will do the equivalent of perma killing a greater daemon of Slannesh.
If we know enough from the mental contact, i'd say solid penetrator shells and mech swords with inwards facing pentagrammic wards are the way to go.

We just have to make sure no-one else ever sees the wards.

Force weapons would also work.

Hmm. Fingers crossed that the Exodite foresaw this and put something into the cube that will help us deal with his evil cousin. Like a Psy-Jammer or a Force Weapon.

Now that we've dealt with...whatever just happened, any chance you could let us know how retreating or calling in the Authority planes could've improved our chances?

Retreating would have been a roll of the dice as to what happened when the Haemonuculus-Farseer sent the construct critical. The probable thing that would happen would be for Glass Canopy to have ceased to exist, but there were significantly worse options.

Calling in the ARE would have given you some bonuses to resisting just walking in and would have been useful for resisting, but unless you rolled really well they probably wouldn't have arrived until the next update.

is it possible to regain those lost traits through personal actions since they are very impontant?

Yes.

Is this about an accurate writeup of what's going on with the Tier 2 Vice options?

Sort of. I probably can produce some ones that involve getting worse rather than moderating some of the negative traits.

Most likely, Chaste reinforces her tendency to have standards and Discerning Lust means she's particularly enthusiastic when it's appropriate to engage in such behavior.

Pretty much. Although the combination is not stable and Chaste is likely to get dumped within the next year or two. It's a worse combination than Humility and Ambition.

We have literally nothing that is capable of actually killing this thing do we?

There are a few exotics you have on hand that could certainly help. If you had been in a mech that might have done something too.

The only reason we got through this without dying is luck and RNG

Dying... no, no I was not expecting you to die here, although getting a seriously negative personality rewrite was possible. You could have when the Eldar lost control of the construct, but that was because of the RNG in the first place. You can in fact see where I was going to end the post but I figured there would be a motion to 'Just shoot the bastard' so I decided to give one last roll, and you saw how that went.

The choice was going to be between either "Fight a single daemon solo" or "You get your army, the daemons get theirs, endurance competition!"

Can we also, later, take action to personally select the party for balance? Mirande's the Wizard and Diplomancer, but we need at least one Ranger and a Fighter. Do we have any Druids, or perhaps a nice Sorcerer?

Yes. You have a few years leeway to get ready, Mirande doesn't have to leave as soon as she turns 20... but I suggest not pushing it in delaying too much.

Also, since Mirande is a diviner, she may have been picking up "I should really learn how to take care of myself without backup" vibes, hence why she started working on her marksmanship.:drevil:

I am all for turning this into an actual roleplaying game. AN copy-pastes all of the actual build-management stuff somewhere else and replaces the front-page with stat-sheets for the party and XP totals.:p

There is a possibility that for the past couple of updates I have been half-assing things due to general burnout and the feeling that the game was turning the situation into "Action RNG + Number Iteration Simulator!" and wanted to spice things up a bit but figured a scenario where you get the option to learn what is coming next a bit early.:drevil:

Actually, @Academia Nut does the authority have any starbombs left?

No, you're pretty sure there are none left on the planet.

Also, did we ever share willpower training with the 504?

No.

[X] Get the remainder of your troops to establish an immediate quarantine
-[X] Call in everybody and everything. The Authority has the best chance of getting here in time, so they come first, but you need help wherever you can get it. The 504 berserkers, random local raiders, any wildlife you can attract, Anna's slaver vassals, everybody andeverything. This is a Warp incursion and your political problems and distaste for other peoples' policies can get thrown straight in there.

Reasonable enough, though we have the option to switch over to Mirande at the end of this turn, right? WIll we still get the chance to try and buff some of those negative traits out, or at least reclaim some good ones?

All in all, that turned out much better than I thought it would.

Yes. At the end of this turn I will give the "Switch to Mirande?" option, and if it wins I will then have a vote for what priorities to give Dia. It will sort of be like a super turn voting. So for Diplomacy you would get a set of options like:

Focus on
[] Trade
[] Expansion
[] Internal stability

And that would be your focus (the others would still be worked on, just less so). So for Personal actions you would get something like:

[] Self improvement
[] Family
[] Personal relaxation
[] Business
[] Politics

With self-improvement having Dia work on her personal traits. These are just off the top of my head examples, there will likely be refinement in the choices than that, but you get the idea.

I definitely don't want you to burn out on the quest, but I *would* like there to be at least some empire management stuff to be around; the idea of shaping a polity in the great question mark time between "humanity falls" and "The Emperor rises" is quite appealing.

I get the impression that we're meant to go back to the empire management stuff at the end of the quest, with the break and new character giving Academia Nut an excuse to switch to a simpler system.

Pretty much, yeah.

...shit, the weird orders and sudden personality change are going to cause us problems, aren't they?
