I was just about to go and track down the most recent tally too.

But then i got ninjaed by AN.

Who knew that he was also a ninja-master.

Incidentally, do we want to focus on giving Jinah the last two virtues (with their higher DC, whatever it might be now), or do we want to go for Focused Fury and Adamantium Will? (I'm leaning towards the latter)

Since AN is writing, everyone should just go out and watch the perseids.

as much as i deeply love amateur astronomy and meteor showers... i'd rather observe the Pleiades (yes i know that they are a star formation and not a meteor shower.), because observing them would mean it isn't over 90 degrees outside in the middle of the night.

but that is the flaw of living in texas.

*BRB watching perseids.*

Again, focused fury without getting serene first would just replace patient and need an extra action to get back to the state she is in now. It would not just be useless, it would be active sabotage.

You know, maybe next time we vote to work with Jinah, we could vote for the traits/Virtues as well. It seems inevitable this updates going to offer us possible traits to vote for the next update so we could kill two birds with one stone. Or are new traits up to the dice with Jinah?

wouldn't you know it, the moment i get out there...

clouds roll in.

Fuck you Atmosphere, and fuck you too Texas for being this hot.

It *is* tempting to try for Adamantium Will; it's the only thing she couldn't get herself and this may be our absolute best chance to pass it on.

The best choices for her trait gain attempts would be Serene and Charitable. Serene is arguably the best trait we have seen so far after Paragon of Virtue and probably less likely for her to gain on her own than Chaste. The reasons against Adamantum Will from last time all still apply, the increased DC for virtues isn't enough of a factor to significantly change the balance (they are still relatively easy to get).

We don't know exactly how difficult adamantium will is (especially taking into account her fairly high existing willpower). I'll definitely agree with Serene, though.

I think we will have the option to work on virtues with her via personal actions in the future if we really want; I think that's somewhat less likely for Adamantium Will. Or perhaps at a higher DC later.

Well considering that it took Mirande suicidally self-destructing to fight a planetary scale threat by herself to get Adamantium Will... yes, probably a higher DC later :p

"You will shortly be considered an adult by the laws of Green Owl... which means that either you gain pretty much full freedom as an agent of the government, or you are declared incompetent to be unsupervised and I remain your guardian. I highly doubt that we will be going for the latter option, but I prefer to be honest about what the stakes are," you tell Jinah pleasantly while you work over your university homework. While you've had to switch to a secondary disguise, you are able to actually go about in public without risking that someone will find out that you're alive. It's been refreshing to be able to get out more.

Jinah just opens one of the eyes from where she is meditating, rolls said eye, and then says, "You're always the optimist, you know that?"

You smile beatifically at her and say, "Yes."

Closing her eye again, Jinah then asks speculatively, "So I know that I'm listed of as a 'state asset' - you are too, but fuck you little miss princess - but what does that actually mean?"

"You can't immigrate, and you can be compelled to serve in a capacity deemed fitting, which for you means military service most likely, although regular volunteering to hunt dragons can probably keep you away from other conflicts fairly easily. You will be compensated fairly handsomely since we don't want you to leave on your own," you state.

"Does that include cute pool boys with those cloned Terran palm leaves that pops up online?" Jinah asks cheekily.

"Yes actually," you reply. At the silence, you add on, "Anna actually has the provisions for high ranking officials to receive sexual favours from select volunteers. She... uh... didn't want to appear a hypocrite and figured that regulating it was easier than having the officials sneak around and open up potential security leaks."

There is a pause before Jinah says, "Your sister is a complete horndog, isn't she?"

"All six of her children are from different fathers, so yes, yes I believe that is an adequate description. She may even throw around phrases like 'bitch in heat' at times. I would of course pick more diplomatic phrasing, but she's not exactly the greatest of diplomats," you state with a shrug.

There is another pause that you wait patiently for Jinah to fill before she asks, "Soooo... little miss goody two shoes, did you...?"

"A few times, yes. Nothing really substantial though," you say as you finish up your homework and then take out your cards. Anna is predicting that there will be a Mantis raider group 'leaking' through the Belter defence network soon and she wants regular updates on when and where it might arrive. As much as everyone "knows" that the Belters allow a certain amount of trouble to get through they can't exactly directly point the Mantis in the direction of the people they want punished.

As you go through your divinations, a frown comes across your face. There will definitely be a Mantis raid sometime this year, but there is something interfering with your efforts. Not... not quite another psyker... and you think you have identified some degree of interference in your divinations from a psyker in Blackthorn, but this isn't it.

Rolled 94 + (126 + 60 + 70 + 10) - 65 + 40 = 335

Rolled 32 -> Haunting Breeze

Air swirling about you as you push further into the future, you dig deeper and find that the Mantis will be hitting a minor settlement outside your general sphere of influence, but something is going to interfere with them. Whatever it is, it is conceptually slippery. Something psychic in nature you think... possibly Eldar. It is quite hard to tell.

What is not quite so hard to tell is that this is going to be a troublesome sell to Anna if you want to interfere. The settlement is just far enough outside your generally accepted sphere of influence that deploying troops there is going to cause internal and external political issues. After kicking the shit out of Speakeasy Central last year and forcibly making them a "protectorate" sending off force - especially without justification before the Mantis arrive - will send a signal that Anna is going to begin a major expansion phase, which could get some of the other powers to begin acting against her, which is sub-ideal. If it was closer she could pull off a training exercise or the like and be ready to scramble right away, but as it is, she's unlikely to want to send substantial forces there.

The trouble is that whatever is going to happen is so damn slippery that you are having a hard time deciding on what will actually be encountered. Will it be friendly or hostile? If you knew it was friendly you are fairly confident that you could deploy there with limited forces and at least be able to hold things off until air support could arrive, but if it is hostile you could be overwhelmed.

Then again Jinah in the forest is basically a walking strategic nuclear warhead...

You...
[] Will leave the settlement and whatever mysterious thing is going to happen alone (0.7x)
[] Demand to be deployed with Jinah (1x)
[] Request to head out with Jinah and a platoon of Jaegers (1.4x)
[] Request that you and Jinah be accompanied by a Jaeger company (1.1x)
[] Attempt to get a significant force deployed to protect the community (0.9x)

[X] Request that you and Jinah be accompanied by a Jaeger company (1.1x)

The troops are there to make us look like less of a target. They aren't there for actually *protecting* us, per se.

[X] Demand to be deployed with Jinah (1x)

A platoon isn't enough to make much of a difference and increases the probability of diplomatic problems.

[X] Request that you and Jinah be accompanied by a Jaeger company (1.1x)

I'm half tempted to make a write-in to send Jinah out with a Jaeger company...

I could be swayed toward [] Demand to be deployed with Jinah (1x) though...

[X] Request to head out with Jinah and a platoon of Jaegers (1.4x)

Let us trust in the possibility of being able to handle ourselves, our apprentice being a one-woman firedancer show, and the deadliness of our soldiers' guns.
