Despite Lailoken's best efforts, I am persuaded to change my vote:

[X] Try to open up trade, offering them food security with your surpluses
Well, not really happy about it, but I suppose it could be worse. We'd still retain the advantage in ranged combat overall - especially if we can now introduce grenades and grenade launchers, thanks to our new chemistry works under construction.
Still, I'm not really happy about strengthening the very same people that had us shot to set up a conflict between us and the Dragonflies.
I still think that we're inviting massive trouble by selling the 504s obviously dual use technology at the same time as telling the Dragonflies to fuck off when they came to us with a much less strategically important deal.
I'm sure they have a spare, after all. I strongly doubt they're stupid, or unable to work out their future if we're closely collaborating with the 504s and hanging them out to dry. We'd best hope they don't catch us infiltrating their secret police at the same time, or they could eally feel backed into a corner.

My Lord, the voting for this turn was ridiculous, Just how many pages did we go through for all that? @Academia Nut - Would it be possible to add an addition to the descriptions for finished research. Something to the effect of <Research Name> (Tech required to make it effective): Description. So that we don't have another multi-page discussion on what is required to use any of our available tech? It might save time in the future.
I was looking at our economy and we have a stockpile of 6 Refined Resources and we get a +1 from Shattersaw recycling operation, but problem is our Machine Shops consume 2 refined resources and we have 0 Raw Resources and don't know if we are getting anymore.
We will need to build the Sawmill in Greengraft where we have the required power to run. It will turn 4 RawR into 4 RefinedR and set up whatever operation needed to innitiate logging operation big enough to feed the sawmill.
It probably will take the logging mechs so it is a good thing we got them when we did.

After weeks of work hashing things out, you manage to complete the deal with the 504s, offering them the designs for the backup fusion reactor and some of the information on plasma physics that will be useful in maintaining it. While they might have liked other things, you also threw in some cash to sweeten the deal, and in exchange you got a host of design schematics for all the little parts you might need for building your own industrial equipment, and the maintenance schematics for the forestry mechs, which amounts to being able to build one with what you know.
Oddly enough you manage to use this deal to smooth over relations with the Dragonflies over the rejection of the partnership deal. You were already in negotiations and were expecting to get an influx of needed industrial gear, so of course your production facilities would be overloaded with manufacturing parts for the next few years.
You are more than a little suspicious that Maxwell makes sure to speak up to the ambassador and confirm that you had already entered into tech negotiations when the offer came.
Rolled 60 + 42 = 102
Not upset
Speaking of Maxwell, you are still trying to guide your daughters and help them to be the best people they could be. Anna is starting to become something of a little liar, although it is sort of amusing because she can be so proud and haughty at times that she doesn't consider the idea that other people could lie. Maxwell finds it adorable, although you both have to admit that this makes Anna remarkably adept at digging herself into trouble and then having no way of digging herself back out, other than to fall back on her sister. While you are pretty sure Anna is smart enough to not think you are being inconsistent or hypocritical if you try to get her to understand that excessive lying can be just as bad as excessive honesty, it could still happen.
Mirande meanwhile apparently couldn't turn down a challenge. On the one hand that could definitely become a problem in short order, but on the other you couldn't really fault her courage. You are fairly certain that your previous attempts to get her to focus her energy are what caused this, probably your military attitudes expressing themselves upon her. Actually, if you could just get her to be less impulsive her courage would be entirely laudable.
For Anna...
[] Ask Maxwell for help on this (0.9x)
[] Try to explain that just as excessive honesty has problems, so to does lying (1.5x)
[] Increase the amount of punishment detail she receives whenever you catch her lying (1.2x)
[] Stay the course, she should figure it out (0.5x)
For Mirande...
[] You know what? Encourage her (1.2x)
[] Start challenging her yourself, she if that will help moderate her behaviour (2x)
[] Increase the amount of punishment detail she receives whenever she accepts an ill-thought out challenge (1.5x)
[] Leave her be (0.8x)
As you are trying to figure out this new complication in parenting, Maxwell comes up behind you at your desk and wraps his arms around you. You smirk and say, "Considering which one of us is typically on top, you usually aren't this forward."
You can hear the smug smirk in his voice when Maxwell replies, "Yes, well, I am feeling particularly frisky today."
"Dare I ask the occasion?" You inquire as you get up from the desk.
"I can't find my wife's abs alluring?" Maxwell counters, poking you in said location. You are fairly certain his finger flexes more than your stomach.
You raise an eyebrow at that and then counter with, "I do believe that your exact words on our honeymoon was 'please don't crush my pelvis'."
"I've grown fond of them since then," Max notes. He then adds on in an exaggerated stage whisper, "The fact that my father is no longer able to find maids in short skirts and no underwear to dust my room means that I sort of had to."
You roll your eyes at that and say, "Knowing you, I don't know whether or not it is preferable to believe that or not."
Max nods at that and says sagely, "You're right, they weren't all maids."
You roll your eyes and then physically pick Max up, throwing him over your shoulder and say, "If you really want to do this I can start reminiscing about the shenanigans I got up to before then, see if I can repeat some of them."
Max is quiet as you carry him back to the bedroom before he asks, "I forget, did any of those involve any of your sexy female squad mates?"
Throwing him on the bed before going to close the door, you note, "You know what would suck to have at the same time as a broken pelvis? Broken cheekbones."
Taking a moment to sort that one out, Max purses his lips and says, "Question retracted."
You roll your eyes and then physically pick Max up, throwing him over your shoulder and say, "If you really want to do this I can start reminiscing about the shenanigans I got up to before then, see if I can repeat some of them."
As for the groom, Maxwell Aetos, he's a nice enough sort. A few years younger than you, he has the sort of classically good looks that are relatively common among the nobility with dark hair and a Helles profile, although you're not entirely certain about how much you can trust him. You are a bit amused that even close to four years after the apocalypse he still seems rather pampered and frail. You are fairly certain that if he has any assassination plans they're going to involve poisoning or accidents since he was clearly a bit shocked the first time he saw you without your clothes on. It was like he had never seen a woman with fitness requirements before!
I suppose Maxwell can take pride in the knowledge that his wife could likely fold in half not only the wives of his old friends back in the Dragonflies but the husbands too. Probably at the same time too.
It's sometimes difficult for a man to be married to woman tougher than he, it's much less difficult for a man when everyone knows that his wife is tougher than them as well.
Hrmmm... we are a quality-focused, high-mobility military pioneering rapid movement through difficult terrain- on a world completely filled with giant trees.
We would have lost the roll, but somehow Secret Police bonus was canceled and we got Sympathizer. So I'm guessing that someone in the secret Police likes democracy and is also totally hot for whoever we sent to infiltrate it, and now we're living in a cheesy Bond spy-movie?
I decided to go for the middle ground (I Think). Hopefully this will moderate Anna Lying/Truth Ratios, and teach Mirande to think before she goes charging into a fight like a 504 berserker.
