With Leane Sedai's warning from before in fresh memory, there really is only one decision you can make.
"I will stop now," you say, soft and tired as you give in. For a moment, you can feel a
flicker of light and warmth-
And then it's gone. You must have imagined it.
Leane Sedai nods slowly, and you think you can see faint approval in her eyes. "Very well, novice.
Saidar is not something you should try to force, it is not something to be rushed; it will come to you, in time." She claps her hands together. "I believe we will end there for today. Go on, everyone."
"So now it's time for
chores," Rielin grumbles as the two of you leave the garden. "I've got scullery duty,
again... do you know what you have?"
You shake your head. "No, I no know." You should probably figure out your schedule, actually...
"Well, let's go look at the rotation, then!"
It turns out that you have been assigned to sweep the novice classrooms with a girl you don't know, Marissa Leafwell; Andoran, by the name. "I do no think I have met her yet," you say, lips pursed. "What do you know about her?"
"Marissa?" Rielin shrugs. "She's nice, I suppose, I don't know her that well. A bit of a teacher's pet, and she spends every free moment she has in the library, and she can be kind of a know-it-all... she's been a novice for a couple of years, I think."
Well, you love to read and to learn new things! It will be nice to meet someone else sharing your interests. "Oh, I see."
The two of you part, Rielin swearing under her breath as she makes her way towards the kitchen. You head to the classrooms you have yet to be taught anything in, only to find a dark-haired girl waiting for you there... well, it would be more appropriate to call her a young woman. She's in her early twenties, pretty in a way that you wouldn't remember after five seconds, and she has a little smile on her face as she greets you. "You must be Lucia," she says, the accent confirming that she's Andoran. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Marissa."
