A school for the cursed: A Psyker Quest. Warhammer 40k quest.

You guys know we're not Hans right?

Not saying the Youjo Senki builds where we go all in enchanting our Rifles to rain death don't sound rad, but our boy literally just won a war against the "Ranged Faction" with nothing but his shields his staff, and a bunch of punchy motions.

Obviously, the ducklings won't have all that, but it seems silly to instantly assume it's going to be gun synergy that they need.. when all they have atm is:

Wyrdvane Skills:
-Close Quarters Combat
-Telekine Personal Shields
-Biomantic Self-Optimization

Nothing needs to be chosen, they're literally a blank slate in terms of offense, and only the foundations of their training have even been decided.

I feel the need to bring up that you won't be able to avoid the Admech or the Ecclesiarchy in this quest. There's no truly feasible alternatives in the Imperium, and you will need the former's aid for technology and infrastructure, and the latter for blessing weapons and objects.

BUT! (And this is a big butt)

There won't be a flanderized portrayal. The Admech won't pop a fuse if you put a red dot sight on a lasgun, and they do actually try to do a bit of technological development in the higher echelons. Its just hard when things can turn into demons if you make a mistake.

And the Ecclesiarchy is more than just fat priests in gold cathedrals. There's many who take vows of poverty, and Ecclesiarchy-run charity and almsgiving is all over the Imperium.
(God-Emperor help you if you steal from the donation box.)

The problem with both is we do not know who is up the chain. So even if our local priests are reasonable at any point some psychopath could through arcane political maneuverings way over Occan's head gain power and smash up whatever deal we made on the local level.

So I think we either get involved as little as we can or if we do want to go in deep we commit to understanding who we are dealing with and helping our favored ally stay in power.

You are absolutely right here!

"Is whoever who's up the chain normal? Are the people up the chain for them?"

Is absolutely a concern you should have.

BUT.

You will need to make deals with either locals, or try to bypass locals and go one step up the chair and ask them. There's no bypassing this.

Tests and skill checks are rolling under, But rolling on an event table is just 1-100.

Am I doing this because I like rolling in public but dislike people overreacting to seeing that a roll will be bad, so I intentionally make it impossible to properly guess which roll belongs to which action except for the list I make beforehand that shows which roll coincides with which action, in the SV equivalent of a GM rolling behind their screen?

maaaaaaaybe.

The current weapons for Wydwanes (Las) are supperior to autoguns and stubbers. Bolter are better than las.
The stubbers are only with telekinetik rounds better, which is very specific and limited in supply.

Autoguns vary wildly in quality. The majority of Autoguns in the Imperium are worse than Lasguns because they are mass-production with limited Admech involvement in the factories because Autogun designs aren't Admech controlled like Lasrifles.

An M16-esque rifle that just so happens to use Caseless ammunition is an Autogun.

A pre-Strife rifle design firing caseless self-targetting rocket-propelled explosive rounds with a built-in cogitator.

Autogun just means. "Fully automatic with caseless ammunition."

That's just wrong las is great against flesh due to dumping a shit load of thermal energy into the bring it underperforms against armour unless you get to cannon sizes. That's why they have meltas. Projectile weapons are better against armour and come with a verity of ammo types and bolters are best at killing what ever is in front of you.

It would mean that when you get a rumor mill, you'd have The Family giving some elucidation regarding what is going on.
Well, that is still quite good...

Another thing @Mayto as I understand Biomantic Juvenant Treatments and beauty is more related to looking good than general health, strenght, and endurance, no?

And can we choose wether to spend Influence with the Lord Prefect or Influence with Astrid, or we need to spend both?
It's definitely tempting, although there's still a decent chance that said records are tainted by Chaos, which would make immediately integrating them dangerous. My biggest concern with your plan is that you're not doing Kel. SP weapons are well-suited for our Telekines as well. The Admech might be able to as well, but I don't think that their relationship with the Brotherhood would be as good as it is if they were competing for autogun contracts.
Concerning this, it is simply that I think that we should get Psykana and Firearms actions done first, and then next turn we focus on acquiring said guns...

It makes more sense from both narrative and pragmatic reasons to have a good understanding of what are our needs related to weapons before making any purchase in that regard, especially when we don't even have our pupils here, and it is not like we are immediately deploying in the battlefield once they arrive...
