[x] Acquire Moolah- You may not have bills, but some extra dosh never killed a man. At least, the man making it. Take one of the jobs you've found. {Ahem.}
-[x] Logo Animation- Animate an already existing logo. Note: You have no idea how to animate stuff. (4000 Lien. D20 roll.)

WHAAAAAAATTTT? Something coding based we don't know yet?

[x] Train- Swordsmanship, Gunmanship, Athletics, all kinds of things need training if you're gonna be an effective Huntsman. Pick a skill you have and you'll train it as best you can for a while.
-[x] Programming (Animation)

FIX THIS GLARING MISTAKE. (Also, I want to hit "Semblance Fuckery" levels of programming skill at some point, so an A- ain't cutting it.)

Why would people vote to spend all any amount of time doing freaking animation? We have a ton of stuff we should really get working on like actually improving our swords skills which are at a atrocious level and actually getting work to improve our Transistor which our life literally depends on as a hunter.

Wasting multiple turns to learn animation just because it's not something Jaune knows is unbelieveable stupid since we have so many more actually useful things we can be learning. And if Jaune the guy who is really good at programming didn't bother to learn I am pretty sure that implies it isn't actually useful for him.

Also wondering around town just to wander around town seems like it's just a waste of an action considering that we really have no reason to and it costs money.

-[X] Swordsmanship

We really don't seem to need money right now. Coding a Function seems like a better use of our time. Training our swordsmanship is going to be important for when we start using Slice(), and for using our sword in general, particularly after using a Turn. And Ada really needs a friend. Plus, there's going to be her sidequest--which we have a potential connection to, thanks to Juane's older sister being part of the investigation into the guy who's after her.

-[X] Software installation- go to a place and install the latest SDC OS on the network, while preserving files and such for transferral. This actually requires leaving your hermit hole. (8000 Lien- takes three timeslots.)

Now let me explain.
This job requires us to leave our house and eats up a whole set of timeslots. Is it worth it? Yes, because it gets us out of the house and into random encounter territory.

Even better is that we're in random SDC related encounter territory.

We could end up updating the concert hall where Weiss is doing her last performance before Beacon. We could update the hotel Torchwick is using as his field base for planning the next Dust heist. There's even a very slim chance we'll see something related to the good Doctor Polendina and/or his best project.

Fortune favors the bold! Let us go into the great beyond in search of random events!

Also make money now because we can't leave Beacon at will, it's flying.

That seems like a horrible reason since it just seems like we are going somewhere random. Relying on the place being specific is an even worse idea since it may just be a new location all together leaving a lot of disappointment. If people want a random event roll it seems like it would make more sense to just take the one action instead of 3.

Also as mentioned we really suck at combat when it comes to getting our functions locked and I doubt we can bring our Transistor everywhere. Think we should fix those issues before trying to get random even rolls since a bad one may put us in danger.

Edit: Not to say that getting out of the house is a bad thing but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. Pretty sure the shut in thing is a joke that people are taking too seriously considering that things like coding are one actions out of 3. There is also the fact that there are other actions that get us out of the house like social or some jobs.

Oh wait Jaune got complimented on the name, how about... fuck I usually have to sleep on these things uh... okay so he's a teenager so references or puns, originality optional what matters most is the unexpectedness.... Grimm Hunters? Beacon's Next Top Huntsmen?

... Oh god yes no: Four Sworded Students. :drevil:

We are reaching levels of non-content never before reached by man.
I could point to a couple long running quests and fanfics that prove you wrong but the fans tend to screech when nettled.

Also! Repeat with me the second rule of running a game: "This is setting up for something down the line." At worst it's a necessary evil, but books, games, movies all go into detail about a team's first group interaction. In this case you've established a baseline for non-combat character interactions that will carry through into the 1-on-1 segments, allowed them to start interacting off screen (cuz they weren't without this) and created the excuse for Jaune to interact with these more or less perfect strangers 1 on 1: "Got any ideas for next time? Let's meet at X to talk about it."

Why would people vote to spend all any amount of time doing freaking animation?
Do you need a list? Here, I'll give you three easy reasons:
  • improving Jaune's overall knowledge of programming is how he gets that skill to S rank, which at the very least will boost how fast he programs functions.
  • It has the best time-to-result tradeoff of any of the options.
  • Animation is likely to be the groundwork for designing Process forms.
I can see this and I'm not voting for it.

Also wondering around town just to wander around town seems like it's just a waste of an action considering that we really have no reason to and it costs money.
I'll take, "What is a random encounter table" for $500, Alex.

I still don't feel anyone has contributed a good argument as to swordsmanship helps improve Jaune's skill with a sword that is (minimum) 250 pounds heavier than any feasibly usable sword. Practicing or improving telekinesis is the key to function-less combat supremacy.

Fuckit, I've got a good feeling about this. At worst it takes care of our money needs for the duration.

Because the QM outright said that we can use the transistor as a sword and can use our sword skills with it?

Because animation let's us make shadow clones and I want that function plus knowing how to make things move is a good skill in general

Now onto some skill Ideas
Function Name*: Cut()
Function Category*: Utility/Other
Function, er, Function*:
-active Acts as a follow-up action to search allowing Juane to disassemble a nonliving highlighted objects to log it's state can also be used to remove pieces of entire things.
-upgrade can be used on other functionsto give them a deletion property disassembling what they come in contact with

Projected MEM Cost: 3 MEM?
Function Discovery: this was inspired by saffs labyrinth and the fact that Juane may have to rearrange the environment again

Function Name*: Paste ().
Function Category*: Utility/Other
Function, er, Function*: this function creates copies of items saved in the log.
Function Discovery: It was a after one of his sisters was in a accident his mother needed a first-aid kit and the transistor made him one immediately

Function Name*: Drawpad
Function Category*: Utility
Function, er, Function*: it turns his screen into a white expanse he can sketch on
Function Discovery: After blue keep complaining about being drawn on and Juane forgot his notepad.

Nowhere was it mentioned that we actually needed animation at all. Jaune just said he doesn't know how to which makes sense if it doesn't actually do anything to help him. I am also not sure if it's even possible to reach S in any skill without semblance use. We also don't know how hard it is to raise a skill and ours is already pretty high and may not be feasible.

Not to mention that there may be better ways then animation.

Already made a post that we likely don't actually need to learn animation. For for shadow clones we can literally just scan someone like Blake or Sun for the function. Also again soul magic and us likely not even needing the skill due to how our power works. Seriously, it seemed like a throw away line that one person took way too seriously.

Spending weeks or even months learning how to program animation seems like a waste since nowhere was it even mentioned once that we needed it until one person brought it up. Should probably ask the QM before making assumptions.

We've also been told that carrying the Transistor is training enough to let Jaune run a marathon. Learning to control the sword with Jaune's mind is going to have a much better ROI.

Didn't this or something like this come up before? I think this falls under the umbrella of "Process powers and not function powers", I swear I remember something about that.

We also don't know how hard it is to raise a skill and ours is already pretty high and may not be feasible.
And there's more room to improve in doing new things. Since Jaune DOES still have room to improve his mortal coding skills, it's going to come from stuff like that.

Not to mention that there may be better ways then animation.
Such as...? ;)

I don't think animation is IT, but it's one component to reach IT. The big chunk of change Jaune nets from this is the real reason to go for the animation work anyway.

Did no one read the post mentioning that we don't actually need to learn animation? For gods sake for shadow clones we can literally just scan someone like Blake or Sun for the function. Also again soul magic and us likely not even needing the skill due to how our power works. Seriously, it seemed like a throw away line that one person took way too seriously.

Aight, dude, you're headed toward the point where you're going to get people voting against you out of spite. Please promote your preferences without spraying acid on the rest of us.

Not really, I mean looking at the higher tier skills we get a ton of bonuses so I imagine that we would get bonuses for that as well. There is also the whole throwing your sword thing is likely to lead to us being vulnerable if someone figures out how to seperate us which would be a lot easier if we are using it as a projectile. Using it as a projectile also comes with the negative that we can't use our functions without holding it.

Without functions we are way more vulnerable so having our sword flying around seems like a terrible idea.

But how likely are they to just let us scan them for a couple hours. Plus good ideas spring from random thoughts and as I said before. Potential shadow clones and better skills.

Just hang out with them? Not really hard to just ask to hang out with them and our scanning is extremely subtle to the point that they won't notice. Also again our function skill is at A+ and S is outright stated to be semblance based so it could be that we can't actually raise it anymore. The fact that we got computer skills was a side effect of Jaune learning that stuff.

Also why do people seem to be ignoring the whole may not even need the skill since someone else bruoght it up in a throw away line? The QM may not even intend for it to be necessary. Some guy just thinks it is and the people voting for it don't seem to have considered asking the QM first.

Nature of the game, Jaune is ALWAYS going to depend on the Transistor more than Ruby ever will depend on Crescent Rose. Luckily distance doesn't effect its Semblance controlling powers. If someone "figures out how to separate" them he goes straight to fucked, do not pass go and do not collect 200 lien.

Throwing the sword? Throwing the sword? Telekinesis isn't about THROWING the sword, it's about everything else! It's about (faking) holding a 300lb. sword in one hand, it's about jumping three stories up while holding the hilt, it's about spinning the sword defensively 360 degrees, it's about surfing the sword in midair, it's about handing someone the sword so they can feel how heavy it is, telekinetically slapping them in the face with it, then pulling it back so you can kick off the ground and sit back like you're on a backless levitating throne.

And when you do throw the sword it's about accelerating it past the sound barrier so you hit the other guy's friends with a sonic boom.

And hey apparently it's possible to pick up other things with telekinesis, like smol people. I'm sure there's some uses for that.

Also why do people seem to be ignoring the whole may not even need the skill since someone else bruoght it up in a throw away line? The QM may not even intend for it to be necessary. Some guy just thinks it is and the people voting for it don't seem to have considered asking the QM first.
Because Redshirt Army laid out a complete plan of action with easy to understand justifications in an amusing wa--

....

@Redshirt Army You voted for four options dude. That's a... red card. :V

Falls apart at the end. The nin in ninja is actually the kun reading of 忍, "to sneak". It's the "者" (sha or mono) that means person.

Japanese humor involves a lot of kanji jokes so it kinda works, but it also means that I read your suggestion as 白人, "shiro nin" or "white person". EDIT: God dammit that means it meets the color rule.

If you're familiar with conversational Japanese look up "Why Japanese people" on YT. It's this Westerner losing his shit over learning kanji and Japanese in general. His reactions sell it even if you're a dabbler like me.

You don't need to convince me, I'm already sold. Patching up Jaune's scrub tier inadequacies in rendering and shaders takes priority, though.
Yeah, but there'll be time for achieving competence later. OS upgrades come once in a blue moo--

You know, it occurs to me that Ruby is going to be utterly fascinated by Juane's weapon. I mean, a sword that's a ludicrous-tier supercomputer that can do all kinds of special abilities that Juane designed and made himself? And that's before finding out that it also houses two AIs.
