My argument, underneath of everything else, is about prevention.
And I am 100% with you about prevention being MUCH better than 'repair', not least because of the millions and millions of deaths involved the last time this bullshit managed to get to it's feet and in control of an entire nation.
I just don't have any faith that prevention can do much at this point to avert a re-run of that war. Theoretically, yes, it could be done, but in the current 'RL' timeline we regretfully find ourselves in? No, I have no faith that the alleged opposition to the current 'more power to me and my hangers-on, no matter the cost ('cause I won't be paying that anyway)' trash* that are the Right parties of the Anglophone world and likely beyond.
Maintaining and educating people on the horrors of the Nazi and other Axis regimes, as well as all of the war crimes and atrocities the Allies perpetrated themselves, is a laudable goal and one I fully support/promote myself. But that doesn't mean you have to use their names or continue to support whatever is left of their legacies. Remove their names from history, except for when it is directly connected to the deliberately murderous and evil machine that was the Nazi regime, it's actions, statements and actual legacy. Let them be much like the perpetrators of mass-shootings or similar mass-murder, only refer to them as 'just another asshole', and prevent any traction from the Right to turn them into heroes for fascist everywhere to heap praise on.
(*) Whether they call themselves 'the GOP', Tories or whatever it's ultimately irrelevant. They are all eager little wanna-be fascists at this point, with the occasional exception that is already an out and out fascist. And they aren't at all limited to only the English-speaking nations either, I just don't have enough exposure to what's going on outside of that sphere to say more than 'there's at least a couple of other nations with the same problem, only worse'.
What was done throughout the axis forces were heinous and horrific. And yet, before the ink proclaiming peace had even started to dry, people were trying to bury the facts.
Because of Power and general xenophobia. Which was kind enough to also give us such lovely, durable gifts as Henry Kissinger and his ilk.
I've toured the Jinmei Communist internment camp in Taipei.
Oof! I imagine that was exceedingly fucking GRIM, to say the least. After the Chinese Civil War, anti-communist feelings were running pretty damn high and savage, I expect.
Anti-ally propaganda is still in circulation in the middle east. It's been redrawn a bit to fit whichever theater of war is currently active but, if held up side by side to what the Nazi party was using? It's still nearly identical.
Depressing but only slightly surprising, sadly. After all, the actions of the political Right have been increasingly blatant for decades now on how much they either want to institute the same kind of governance/hellish life as the actual Nazis prior to and during WWII.
One modern day example is the intentional misdiagnosing of women with autism. Rather than properly diagnose a woman with ASD, a distressingly large percentage of caregivers will instead slap them with the label of BPD and then drug them into silence.
Ahh, the
kyriarchy at work. Isn't it glamorous?
Why are they doing this? What is the logic behind this? What is the overarching goal?
And there has to be some overarching goal considering this specific issue isn't isolated to one county, or one country, but has been caught out as an international practice.
Mostly just multiple people either in power or believably within reach of it no longer bothering keep the mask on any longer, to be anything other than what they have long been behind the mask.. Awful and unimaginative people in the same spot are going to act to enable themselves further in much the same ways after all.
Which isn't to say there is no-one trying to spread those ideas far and wide in less open ways for purely their own benefit (and anyone else's is simply a side-effect, but can still be quite useful). Look most closely to Darth Rupert, the Merde-Orc for an excellent example of
that kind.
In a very Hanlon's razor way: there is misogyny everywhere and it isn't orchestrated or engineered. It's just people (usually men, but often enough women and non-binary people) being shitty.
Hence the reason I find the Kyriarchy to be a much more useful an accurate label than just 'the Patriarchy'. Kyriarchy contains the patriarchy, but also covers multiple other axes of oppression, even if they contradict each other, seemingly or actively. As long as those with some power find it useful, they will support and strengthen this. And once it no longer suits them, either in part or in whole, the powerful will discard any parts that they no longer find effective or useful for their own desires.
This. Drugging people into silence is easier and simpler than actually helping them, and since many cultures portray women as "overly emotional" and "irrational" it's relatively easy to get away with.
This isn't saying that the problem isn't real or "isn't that bad." It's saying that it's even worse.
THIS: Drugging people into silence is easier and simpler than actually helping them
A lot of the time if anyone feels the need to argue in favour of these symptoms, they'll claim it's actually cheaper to do things this way, but they are either deluding themselves or deliberately lying, because it's almost never true outside of extremely tightly-targeted 'examples'. And even in the rare cases that it happens to be true, that isn't actually relevant to why they support such systems.
The cruelty is the point, after all.
"Bye, mom," Yuffie whispered before she raised her head and closed the doors of the shrine. "Love you."
Awww...

❤️
So she decided to pester her dad, instead.
Ha!
Starfire felt rather giddy as they were allowed into Friend Alchemist's home. She was most looking forward to the 'Letting loose'. Especially with the blade strapped to her hip.
Once again you demonstrate that you have Kori's characterisation nailed down, and that she's so much more than the 'space bimbo' that so many discount her as. ❤️
To be fair, DC have repeatedly portrayed her as just/only that in print.
A man and a woman could commit the same crime and they would get very different punishments. An observation to which Starfire had yet to find a clear and concise explanation behind.
Ahh, and here we have an excellent example of the kyriarchy in our story itself!
Starfire claimed the most glorious and flavorful Orange whilst taking the odious Cherry for Friend Beastboy.
He knew what he did.
Does he though Star? Have you actually clearly communicated that to him? (Besides, I'd take Cherry over Orange any day, and I'm pretty certain I've never done anything to arouse her ire, ever!
The anger, the attitude, the threats of violence...
It was the most adorable thing she'd seen on Earth!
See above, re: on-point characterisation.
"...Why in the world would you need a weapon that can shoot something two counties away?" Cyborg asked, his voice somehow even despite the incredulous tone underlying his question.
Aww, you can see they're adapting to Al and his shenanigans! Slowly, but adapting nonetheless!
Until Fate runs afoul of al they will underestimate him (up until he ruins the helmed gits millennium)
Nobu really could use a few gigaton-level thwacks with the Clue-bat(tm).
Also, Alchemist is now technically a 40k battlecruiser.
Nah, he needs to have boarding torpedoes as well to properly qualify.
Much like her portrayal in the TT show, she is always a delight.
... should Alchemist introduce StarFire with Dex-Starr?
Gods, no! Why would you even think about subjecting a poor, innocent ex-Red Lantern to such horrors?!
So this ten meter tall suit of full plate armor is all but conceptually indestructible, with extra conceptual for its everything, and can deploy large, bullshit strong bubble shields. On top of applying ridiculous multipliers across the board.
Galactus: GO BIG OR GO HOME.
Alchemist, leaning down and LOOMING over Purple-G's shoulder: I thought you said to 'GO BIG', little G?
Wonder if Jinx will think to check if the x-suit is here in the zombie id.
I wonder how well the X-suit will survive a few trips through the autoclave? I certainly wouldn't be willing to wear one taken from a Zombie-world without at least 3-5 trips to sanitise it properly.
