Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

[X] Sixiang the confidant, the friend, the fun older cousin to her other spirits. Things might not be the same, but that was the path she wanted to walk.

[X] Sixiang the companion, the friend… and perhaps something more, it would make her already tricky situation trickier, but… she felt she could try.

Like, I think there's value in understanding Sixiang is by virtue of living in LQ's head effectively going to be part of any relationship she has, but I don't think they go together well romatically. They're her muse, and that's a really great relationship as-is

While Six is a very fun character who I enjoy the screentime of, I enjoyed that screentime precisely because it was the sort of casual teasing and openness that comes from two close friends. While some people may want to fuck all of their friends, I think that there is a sort of place where you can still be incredibly close with someone and willing to do or face anything, without bringing romance into the equation.

Also: I do think that legitimately we would see less of Six going full nonbinary shifting spirit. Because despite the wants of plenty of chatters back in the sect, Ling Qi is interested romantically in boys, not girls. So when Six is trying to appeal to Qi's tastes romantically, they would take the form of a boy more often. I feel like that's pretty obvious. Hell, it literally happened in this update.

This is a big vote. Very much hoping we don't try to romance the muse.

Friendship is best ship.

Sixiang is easily one of my favorite characters, but actually shipping them with Ling Qi? I think i'll pass in that regard. While their relationship totally could become romantic, I feel like it would better if it doesn't. The…vibe just isn't there for me.

All I'm saying is we could have been cyan if we just ate Sixiang during the nightmare tribulation but nooooo we have to be good guys . I guess we can still eat zhengui though I suppose …

I do have to say the argument that romantic involvement causing Sixiang to spend more time as a guy would diminish their nonbinary and genderfluid identity strikes me as odd. Sixiang spends essentially zero time as a guy, as-is. Giving them more boy-screentime would emphasize their gender fluidity. Like, objectively.

I don't think I'd enjoy Ling Qi in a romantic relationship with Sixiang, while I do enjoy the dynamic they had, and think they could develop a similarly enjoyable dynamic if they remain platonic. It's a pretty simple choice for me.

Well, I lean far more toward Meng Dan and never really saw Sixiang as a romantic option. I can't deny the idea of Ling Qi romancing the genderfluid moon fairy who lives in her head strikes me as weird, and yes, the double standards are obvious even to me. Still, the way they're written, I see friends, not lovers. The fact that even Sixiang can only see themselves as a second husband or concubine only makes me more sure of that. They've been a good friend, and thankfully will remain so whatever our choice.

Though I am a bit torn by somebody mentioning how Ling Qi is letting all these other bozos court her, why not sixiang. I just see them as friends, AND the whole Sixiang created out of LQ, doesn't have goals or ambitions outside her.

First vote!

Finally caught up with Forge and this, so many sleepless nights. Story is amazing, really enjoy the spy/political intrigue stuff, the last arc so good. Thankyou for writing this!

Team Turtle but I think he'd be open to Sixiang so long as Ling Qi loved him, usually I'm a bit of a prude but for some reason this feels right? I feel that Xaun Shi would understand different relationships with spirits and I'd love to see more about how that influences his own story with his spirits. I just find his character and how he and Ling Qi interact very interesting and deeply romantic.

Maybe I'm wrong and he won't be down for it but lets try. But we need to be honest with Sixiang, just like we were with Xaun Shi, that try is exploratory. Communication is key.

When Sixiang first appeared I liked the friendship alot and wouldn't have thought of them of more than that. That changed especially through the arc where they split. The relationship they had had grow to feel toxic and possessive and codependant but also deep and yearning and free? I love they had the break though at the time it was upsetting their fantastic dialogue wouldn't be around. It felt like that was needed for them both to fully understand themselves and each other as seperate beings, now exploring their feelings for each other feels right.

Love this story.
