[] Plan Old Commitments, Preparations And A Massive Gamble

I really like the idea of trying to exploit Daemon being a chaos goblin but one who legit loves his brother by using him as a sort of fire-and-forget missile against the Grand Maester. :D

Lads.

We're doing it, the Daemon gamble is now in the lead.

Wether this is a good thing or not we'll find out later, but for us Daemon gamble voters, our love for Viserys (or love of chaos) outweighs our concerns for consequences.

I think connecting with Daemon in one of the few ways we are properly aligned, love for Viserys, is honestly our best way to interact with our uncle. Fully ignoring him has many detriments (though certainly plenty of benefits), but the only other things we match on are filled with bravado, ambition, and pride (Dragons and Knighthood). Actively and publicly being antagonistic to each other will be harm to Viserys.

Don't take this as wanting to buddy up with Daemon, and for the most part we should avoid him, but the occasional interaction under specific circumstances should be fine.

I'm perfectly fine with shifting Daemon and Rhaenyra to "Glaring at eachother across the dinner table unless they're both climbing over it to beat the snot out of the same bloke.

Daemon will definitely appreciate Rhaenyra treating him as Viserys's brother first and caring about Viserys over the politics.

Realistically, Daemon still has his men from the city watch. They'd be pretty capable of carrying out a murder after Daemon gives them order, with Daemon and Rhaenyra both serving as Each other's alibis. "We've been in this room the entire time, putting old grudges to rest, isn't that right Rhaenyra?"
Gonna be real nothing drove me away from the gamble plan more than this post. Ah yes intentionally becoming blackmail buddies with canonical creepy groomer uncle. Yeah no thanks.

Who knows, if we manage to sligtly improve his opinion of us this turn, we might be able to duel him next turn.
You mean, he'll come to interrupt our peaceful vacation and one of us demands a fight, and if we win he'll get mad, and if we lose he'll get unbearably smug? :V
Fighting Daemon is probably a sub-sub-option under Antagonizing him

Prince Daemon Targaryen
Animosity
"The Rogue Prince", your uncle and your father's younger brother. He had been heir before you.
Focus less on canonical dramatic portrayals we voted the quest away from and more on the quest state of affairs? Or don't. No concern of mine either way.

In the heightened animosity of this quest as it stands, there are even fewer opportunities for any kind of common ground with him, and therefore precious few opportunities to deescalate the animosity. This is a rare example where it actually might work, which could both lower the temperature between us and help Viserys more directly than any other option.

It is still a risk, obviously, but it's one with potential for a huge payoff.

I don't think that Daemon will just stand up and go murder the Grand Maester the moment we are done talking. He's a reckless idiot, but this would be too crass a response even for him. That's just a caricature of him at that point.

Given the pretty shameless way he murdered Rhea in canon, I don't think it would be too out of character for him to use force on Mellos.

Especially if it's mentioned that Otto was (comparatively) unbothered by the fact that none of the treatments were working, and that the only given alternative we have is to "sit around and wait until Mellos just dies". I really don't see Daemon for once in his life going for subtley and patience.

I don't either, but he won't be here alone. He'll have some of the men he fought for the stepstones with in tow, and they can carry out a discrete murder on his behalf.

To be fair, he tolerated that sham of a marriage for quite some time before murdering Rhea. Although his brother's actively deteriorating health might force him to act rashly...

Regardless, even if he doesn't assassinate Mellos, this is still going to keep him busy and direct his attention to that problem. A distracted Daemon is one who isn't putting as much thought or energy into nonsense directed at us.

Is that one of these show vs. book canon things? I don't recall Daemon being involved in her death.
