[X] Plan Swimming With Sharks minus aliens

I've changed my mind on mentioning where aliens are to be found.

-[X] Give general details on being a skilled melee combatant with supernatural durability, situational exotic abilities like tool summoning/field crafting, and good information gathering skills. Do not get into details about things like essence pool size, particulars of individual charm weaknesses, or critical secrets like the crown.
—[X] [Stunt:] Meeting his eyes, something lethally serious slipped into her voice. "The implications of what we are can take time to sink in, but we are Exalted. Our power is meant to allow mortals to do the impossible, and what you have touched on so far is just the beginning".
—[X] "On the tactical level, I am a melee specialist and information gatherer with a variety of supporting abilities and resources to support both roles." Gesturing with Usum Molly casually scored her first name into the ice in a single stroke.
—[X] "I'm unsure what you've seen of the supernatural world, but I do not mean the 'melee' of some fledgling vampire excited about how they can shrug off a bit of small arms fire. I've parried cannons and cut through things stronger than any mundane steel. I've matched flaming brass against tooth, claw, and spell of things older than the language we're speaking right now."
—[X] "Many of my strategic options are unlikely to be relevant unless we want to bring an army of cybernetic dragon men into this. I do however, have a variety of other tools if we need them".
[X] My bag of tricks is large enough than we'll be here long past the time we have if I started to list them all, and the lady does have to have some secrets. On the most basic of levels, I am far tougher than a human can ever dream to be, immune to many things, cold being only one of them. I am faster, stronger, better than a mortal, and I know how to handle this sword better than any mortal ever could. It is capable of harming even those that would normally think themselves immortal. A vast array of magical abilities is at my command, useable in many situations as you have seen when I warmed you up. And if things get really tough? Remember that the armored giant of brass and stone, and possibly legions of spectral cyborg lizardmen are on your side.

Consolidating - I want to mention aliens at least.

So, minimization of (near) mortal suffering doesn't matter? You are arguing against angelic benevolence.
Priorities:
"The fact or condition of being regarded or treated as more important."

I just remembered since we have the Charm we can ask for Molly's input on it.
@DragonParadox can Molly use Calibration Gate to Heaven from anywhere rather than needing a specific spot like with everything else?

If Heaven still works like the Heaven she dimly recalls, walled in Adamant around which Elsewhere laps like the sea she would have to look for some kind of resonance. What that resonance might be... that would take an action and some looking.

Right.. Does she think that a Christian church on Sunday in the middle of mass would work?

Arc 15 Post 91: In Memory of Hades
In Memory of Hades

14th of March 2007 A.D.

Meeting his eyes, something lethally serious slipped into her voice. "The implications of what we are can take time to sink in, but we are Exalted. Each of us bears a weapon meant to allow mortals to do the impossible, and what you have touched on so far is just the beginning".

"A weapon?" the sharpness of his question interrupts you before summoning Usum ironically enough. If we ever end up in a place where there's more then ice around I'm going to have to come up with something to call him in my head at least. "Whose weapon?"

"Wish I could tell you," you shrug quite sincerely. "I have a whole bunch of speculation, not much in the way of hard facts, it could be that hard facts can't exist from that far back, everything about the world changed and changed again except..."

"Huh...Like Zircon crystals on the soul."

"Pardon?" It's not that you didn't hear over the wind, it's that the word makes no sense. "The gemstone?"

He seems half lost in his own thoughts, the man you had interrupted from seeking death, who into death would walk, but your question starts him out of it and into explaining: "The oldest rocks, we know of come from the Archean, but those aren't the oldest solid rock that ever were so we keep looking. Eventually someone figured out that some small zircon crystals can become embedded in other in igneous or metamorphic rock, Hadean zircon from when the earth was hell. You wouldn't think geologists would come up with that name just by looking at us would you? On the other hand it was also us who named the next great span of time 'the Archean', literally the 'old aeon'." The joke had the air of one he'd told before and to a an audience larger than one.

"I can set your mind at ease when it comes to aliens though," you casually add your own 'joke' to the mix. "The nearest intelligent alien life is 100 lightyears in that direction."

"You're not...?" he searches our face.

"On the tactical level, I am a melee specialist and information gathering with a variety of supporting abilities and resources to support both roles." So saying you put on the blandest butter wouldn't melt in your mouth expression you can manage.

Perhaps at a loss for words, perhaps merely at a loss for polite ones he makes a circular motion with his hand for you to consider, a void in the spinning snow flakes.

"I'm unsure what you've seen of the real world, but I do not mean the 'melee' of some fledgling vampire excited about how they can shrug off a bit of small arms fire. I've parried cannons and cut through things stronger than any mundane steel. I've matched flaming brass against tooth, claw, and spell of things older than the language we're speaking right now."

You are watching very carefully indeed, not out of a sense of personal pride, or at least not mostly that. No you're trying to get his measure, not least because if you are about to take on some ancient monstrosity with only untested backup you want to have some clue what they can handle. And it's because you're watching that you catch it, the start at the word 'vampire', but he doesn't address it.

Instead one hand waves out into the white and seemingly from the trailing shadows of its passing a vehicle emerges, a thing to too-sharp lines and blood red markings that seems more coffin on wheels than snow-mobile, at least an explanation for how he hasn't frozen to death out here. "I am harder to hit and find it easier to hide in the shadows. From those shadows I can steal will to... act at all. Vengeful ghosts have been... speaking to me and I think I can move them to act so long as it is not opposed to their nature. Where will be all too many ghosts I'm afraid, sacrifices."

Instead of asking for more confirmation you get in the back seat. Sure you could fly faster, but it's not like something can surprise you out here... or in general given that your anima is still burning. But as the engine began to purr, one assumes burning the hopes of the damned or the like you can't help but return to that moment of recognition. Should you ask more to see what connection your new companion may have with vampires and of what sort? Or should you instead ask a more reliable source, costing you another mote of essence.

What do you do?

[] Ask what he knows about vampires

[] Try to get more information about him in general along the journey

[] Use your crown

OOC: Enjoy.

[x] Try to get more information about him in general along the journey

I would rather be essence positive for this trip rather than negative.

The ways to reconcile these facts are (to me):
1) Angels don't care about loss of life and suffering of mortals or near mortals
2) Angels are incapable of taking the place of the fae (or, earlier, gods), like, for example, they may have type disadvantage against Outsiders
3) No angel is available to help those manning the Outer Gates, and hasn't been available for a long time

4) Angels care and would be capable and available, but aren't (currently) allowed to guard the Gates.

When it comes to angels in Dresdenverse, then them not being allowed to do something seems to be the default you would have to assume. Everything they can do seems to be a list of exceptions to that, often related to the Knights and the Fallen.

So currently making sure Ebon Dragon is contained is still on the List, but Outer Gates aren't.

Evil creatures suffering could even be considered a perk.

Disagreed. By that logic it would no longer be evil, but even good, if Yama Kings created some artificial evil race of sapient people to torture for energy.

[X] Ask what he knows about vampires
-[X] I know about the White Court which is the emotional succubus kind, the Black Court which is the bram stoker kind - quite literally, the book was written to tell everyone their weaknesses - and the Red Court which are the flesh mask bat guys. White Council is currently at war with the latter, and I am sourcing weapons to the White Council.

As I see it Angels are normally only allowed to act directly when the problem is impossible to deal with by anyone else. Not anyone else available but anyone else period. They very well may even be removed from the Fallen duty now that Exaltations are back though it's possible they will stay since Fallen are kind of their responsibility since they are angels too.
