It Belongs to a Museum

I want to play Sith Rionnasc because I want to see how Boney writes Marienburgers and Elves in the protagonist's seat- the thought of this thread denigrating Dwarves and The Empire as much as his other thread does them sounds hella fun. Or maybe it could go the other way! Deep nuance and deep partisanship both sound like amazing outcomes.

And of course there's the thing. Playing the Vampire Coast would obviously be amazing, but they are Bad Guys. I think in the back of my head I'd often be thinking what the point of any of this is, If I really want us to do well. The aesthetics can carry me hella far, but can they carry me forever? Whereas I think the Elves furtively leaving their isolation, living in a human city- that's juicy! I love the character dynamics that implies, the opportunities it offers! Would they grow to change their snobbery? Challenge their imperialism? Mourn their failures? Do we have the chance to actually get Elves to acknowledge their mistakes? Or just roleplay how we're better than everyone else? I'd like to see it.

On top of that, Marienburg trades with everyone! Marienburg trades with Lothern! The Vampire Coast may offer opportunity for Lustria and Necromancy, but Marienburg can have anything! Cathay! Araby! Bretonnia! Lustria! Probably not Necromancy! I want as much opportunity for cool lore as possible, and I think Elftown is it.

There's not a lot of oppurtunity for growth beyond that, I don't think. As a society we'd be stunted by our circumstances, as people we'd be stunted by our society. I get wanting to see Boney elves, and Boney Marienburg. But I'm pretty sure those will turn up in DL eventually, one during the elfcation, and the other when attention finally turns towards it.

But the vampire coast? Only if we take swamp town governor, and that's unlikely, and we wouldn't be on their side. The time of Necromancy for Mathilde had passed, excepting some sort of time of ending.

And I really want to see what he does with vampires. It'll be great.

I'll also point out that this quest isn't about politics and such. It's intended to give an excuse for loredumps when Boney is in a lore dump mood.

(If Boney's willing and eager to, of course! That takes priority!)
Because there's a limited amount of writing time, and time spend on that is time not spend on DL. The loredump writing currently doesn't have an outlet, so that's a different story.

I'm not against having some politics, and I'm in fact pretty sure it will happen, but I would prefer that the main focus remain on DL.

[X] Sith Rionnasc

Are these the sorts that could contract out some acquisition work to the vampires? Perhaps have a standing agreement so they get a crack at the odd stuff?

I feel sad that there is no option for a Skaven museum, made by Skavens, for Skavens.

Also quite curious how Boney would go about writing it.

Unfortunately, within Skaven society a museum cannot exist. Any mainstream Skaven worldview would weigh the value of looting a museum higher than that of continuing to allow it to exist, and their society does not allow for the conception of prosocial individual sacrifices, believing that furthering one's personal power at all costs is empowering Skavendom as a whole. To have a Skaven museum, you'd need to build it outside of Skaven society. In, say, Tilea or Sartosa, or to a less accessible extent, the Vampire Coast.

:V So what you're saying is we should start a Skaven museum in Karak Eight Peaks, to flex on them.

Fair, but if we are building a museum I want to build a museum people can come and visit and experience, and the Vampire Coast is going to have the least of that with it's low population and unfriendly relations with everyone else.

So it and Sartosa are my least favorite options.

I think there's enough awful people on the high seas who'd like to court Harkon's favor and dark magic aficionados interested in esoteric lore out there that a VCoast museum could see some steady foot traffic.

I forget its name but Chaos Dwarf Vegas was a thriving port community of terrible people, I don't see why New Bechafen can't be similar.
