We can handle prestige earning with ourselves and our actually graduated Primaris Battle-Psykers. Wyrdvanes are our apprentices, they're not going to be the only kind of Psykers our school ever produces. And preparing them to interact with the deeply paranoid and superstitious people with guns they'll be surrounded by for their whole careers is a benefit that neither of the other options gives. The problem with psychic support is it's far and away the least respected. The average Guardsmen may appreciate it, but the actual movers and shakers are likely to be far less impressed than other options. We don't need the average Guardsmen to be a beacon of tolerance. We need to have a good working relationship with the greats of the sector.
Prestige is not some nebulous score, it's one of the most valuable currency and gauges we have.
Ah, so we're ignoring that the wyrdvanes will go on to become Primaris, that then proceed to teach their wyrdvanes they way they were taught. We're absolutely locking in our primary expertise here because our graduates are going to teach the same way they were taught. Moreover, if Occam is leading the support wyrdvane, he has significantly less time to secure personal glory and prestige. It's not the end of the world, but people seem to be talking like support doesn't have glaring and massive problems. We can handle prestige earning with ourselves and our actually graduated Primaris Battle-Psykers. That... is fucking good point. Siege option is much more balanced option than others that we have.As for coexisting with all those grunts… we just watched an update where an abhuman who was accepted and tolerated by those she worked with was nearly put to death for being presented to officers. That nominal tolerance from the grunts is all but worthless if they alienate the officers. Part of that is doing work the officers can respect- and the lack of prestige makes it explicit that as a whole the officers don't particularly respect or value the support role.
