Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

If you take black the blessing they are as they were before, when a charm says it does a thing that is a thing that will be happening. That is one of the defining traits of Exalted 'magic' as opposed to later day, far fewer edge cases.
In this case

[X] Yes
-[X] Sanctuary Martial Arts, she already moves with the precision of someone who knows martial arts after all
-[X] Awakening the Po... though not in front of a priest, there is no way to make that sound innocuous

Exaltation is a future possiblity, she needs a boost now.
As an alternative, I'd like to propose my sword design*, Potentially something repurposed to brawl because she's an Akido master**, but functionally a similar item.
We'd need Murphy to have some sort of energy pool first, though, to power the splendor. Also, weren't we going to give it to Daniel? I am fairly sure we promised it to him. We could make another one, of course. Though I think it's better to lean into "she's a cop" and make a gun instead. If we are going to do it. GIving Murphy splendors is way down the line, though, I'll be honest, no matter how much I like her.

Guys, there's no reason not to give her the boost. If your worried about the Exaltion DP said we could remove the boost later to try for it.

Thanks to all for the clarification

Also, does that mean Dresdenverse Wizards can't exalt? How about sorcerers? Amateur practitioners? Since every human can theoretically do magic rituals, where's the limit?

No interest in awakening her po.

"If it's the same idiots who decided to arrest Dresden in the summer I will be having some words with the people who should be holding their leash."

"The director of the FBI?" you ask innocently.
Too subtle for Daedalus sounds right given what we've seen of their MO on screen but there's no other known US branch with motive and means whose also in the know. Occam's Razor is saying it's them until more context is found. Seriously drawing a blank here, unless it's an independent actor of sorts working through government assets somehow.

@DragonParadox Errors.
A Father John Murphy came to Chicago in 1869 and he was the parish priest of Old St. Patrick's Church Church.
She offers you coffee, at the kitchen table with the waving away of protocol common to the trully busy.
He's probably right, a old warning
The random incursions of people stumbling on Gard's privacy did not help someone spy on her, not were they planted in the hopes of killing one of them when intercepted and then pinning the murder on hers,
The part of the sentence in between the commas here looks like it was supposed to be worded differently as well.
Then you spot is out of the corner of your eye, the pattern made clear.
"Just me, the cats..." On cue a large orange tabby much too rotund to be pulling any chariots buts his way into the room. "And the rabbits out back."
"Well it's probably not the bunnies or the kitty-cat,
Gard either has multiple cats or just the one.
And assassination attempt
If you are under observation even loose observation whoever it doing this is bound to get at least a bit angry.

So I shelled out the cash for Mage 20th anniversary How Do You Do That imagine my surprise when under energy work page 49 I saw this.
Added Life-Force (Health Levels)
By combining this blessing with advanced Life Arts, the mage can add temporary health levels to himself (Prime 5/ Life 3) or to the character of his choice (Prime 5/ Life 4). Again, the number of health levels added is based upon the successes rolled, as if those health levels were damage, and they last for the usual Duration of the Effect, or until damage takes them away. (For details, see Mage 20's Base Damage or Duration chart.)
If the recipient suffers damage before the Effect runs out, those new health levels absorb the damage, leaving only "mi- nor flesh wounds" that hurt but do not hinder the character. Damage that exceeds those health levels, of course, affects the character normally.
As an example, let's say that Amanda has been gifted with eight temporary health levels by her mentor Senex. (Four suc- cesses rolled by Senex equal eight health levels for Amanda.) In the course of a fight, Amanda takes six health levels; the added vitality absorbs the injuries, though, so while Amanda winds up bleeding and annoyed, she's still essentially healthy despite that damage. If she suffers three more health levels in damage, however, she takes that final level as real injury; when the spell wears off, Amanda will be down just one health level despite the hits she's taken.
Because they come from a reinforced Pattern laced with life-force, those added health levels can absorb bashing, lethal or aggravated damage. Generally, this sort of blessing is coincidental. However, each level of damage that the character absorbs that a normal human being could not possibly survive (being set on fire, for example, or having a falling safe drop on her head) gives that character one point of Paradox. Even after the blessing Effect ends, the Paradox remains until a backlash discharges that energy.
For other acts of good fortune (and bad fortune, too), see Blessings and Curses in the Uncanny Influence section, p. 133.
The reason there's no rules saying you can't do it is because you literally just can. It's really expensive both in Mastery and in cost and can easily net you a lot of paradox but Mages can just do that.

Back to something more on topic @DragonParadox does this seem okay.
or Sizemorphic Medium: A concoction that allows a sorcerer to grow or shrink in size at will for a day. The sorcerer makes a reflexive willpower roll and the number of successes must match or exceed the level of growth or shrink rating or spend a willpower and grow or reduce to the desired size this can only be done once per turn. Successes are divided between the sizes that the sorcerer is capable of growing to and shrinking to as well as how long.

● one turn
●● three turns
●●● one scene

● Big: Slightly larger than a normal human the character with this gains one extra bruised level of health and one Soak.
●● Huge: A character with this modification is roughly twice the average person, adding +1 to strength and 2 extra bruised levels and 1 Soak. Gain +1 to Dexterity for movement purposes only.
●●● Massive: A character with this modification is roughly four times the average person and around 2.5 to 3 meters tall, gaining +2 Strength 3 Extra bruised levels and 2 Soak. The size of a massive character is both an advantage and a disadvantage - they gain +50% to lifting capacity and +2 to Dexterity for movement, but are much more obvious taking - 1 difficulty to be hit.
●●●● Humongous: A character with this modification is eight times the mass and twice the height of an average person, gaining +3 Strength, and 4 Extra bruised levels and 2 Soak, as well as +3 Dexterity for movement purposes. Furthermore, their size doubles their lifting capacity and taking - 2 difficulty to be hit.
●●●●● Gargantuan: A character with this modification is twelve times the mass and 3 times the height of an average person, averaging around 5-6 meters tall, gaining +4 Strength, +4 Dexterity for movement, and 5 Extra bruised levels and 3 Soak . Due to their huge size, they triple their lifting capacity and suffer a - 3 difficulty to be hit.

● Small: Roughly the size of a prepubescent child. Increases the difficulty to hit the Drinker by one.
●● Dwarven: A character with this Augmentation is about roughly half as tall/wide/thick as an average person, reducing Strength and Stamina by 1. Dexterity is also reduced by 1 for movement purposes only. Characters which are small are more vulnerable to damage but harder to hit, losing 1 bruised from their Health Level track but increasing the difficulty to hit them by 1 and lowering their stealth difficulties by 1.
●●● Tiny : A Tiny character is roughly 1/4th normal dimensions, reducing Strength and Stamina by 2. Characters which are tiny are more vulnerable to damage but harder to hit, losing 1 bruised and 1 hurt, and 1 Mauled Health Level from their track but increasing the difficulty to hit them by 2 and lower their stealth difficulties by 2. Finally, Tiny characters are slower, losing 3 dexterity to all movement.
●●●● Miniscule: A miniscule character is 1/8th their normal dimensions, reducing Strength and Stamina by 3. Miniscule characters can suffer fatal injury from mere annoyances to normal humans, reducing their HL track by 1 Bruised, 1 Hurt , 1 injured, and 1 Wounded Health Level. Miniscule characters lose 4 dexterity to movement and increase the difficulty to hit them by 2 and lower their stealth difficulties by 3.
●●●●● Lilliputian: Lilliputian characters are roughly 1/12th in dimension, reducing Strength and Stamina by 4. Lilliputian characters can easily be killed by otherwise harmless phenomena, reducing their HL track by 1 bruised, 1 hurt, 1 injured, 1 Wounded, 1 Mauled , and 1 Crippled Health Level. However, they are also tiny. If a Lilliputian character has no HLs, 1 level of any sort of damage kills her. Lilliputian characters -4 dexterity for movement purposes and increase the difficulty to hit them by 3 and lower their stealth difficulties by 4.

I'm not sure bout that final level for increases in size, that is going to bit far hoodwinking the square cube law when it comes to mortal magic. The human body plan really does not scale like that.

And one again...we have a tie.

Arc 13 Post 40: Of Familiar Faces
Of Familiar Faces

13th of February 2007 A.D.

You bring it up in the car as you're driving across town when talking about how to explain magic if someone stumbles over a mention in some old letters or the like. "When you come right down to it magic isn't magic the way you learned it in... did you go to Sunday School? Sorry for assuming."

"No, not for lack of trying, you understand, but I just couldn't sit still long enough, more of a distraction to the other kids really and that's the nice way to put it." She smiles a little and shakes her head at the memory, the kind that is only fond with a lot of distance.

"Well anyway, the point is when we talk about magic in a religious sense it's supernatural, distinct from the observable, predictable running of the world, but that is not actually true of the magic I do, the magic Harry does, even the magic Tiffany does, it is just harder to observe and predict. In a sense... and I cannot believe I'm saying this, those Daedalus yahoos are right, only they have it backwards, the physical laws as they are understood by the Standard Model are a subset of the magical understanding of the universe not the other way around. Everyone has magic because everything is magic, thinking and moving and breathing and if you can do it the right way... those things specifically I mean you can get a supernatural effect. Like Daniel, did you meet my brother Daniel?"

In response Father Forthil nods looking very dubious about the whole thing, detective Murphy shakes her head.

"A wizard who looked him over would say he's as magical as a sack of turnips, he learned how to freeze things with his hands when he hits them, because the breath of life is magic and your breath belongs to you so if you learn how to do it properly things... change."

"The Kung fu flicks were right all along?" she asks, not taking her eyes off the road, though there's a gleam in them just the same.

"In the most general sense yeah, I can get you in touch with someone who can teach you some stuff if you have the time." You do not question her dedication, anyone who lacked that would have long since gotten another job.

"We are going to my parents' house first of all, just because my father was the one who got most of the letters from my grandmother and great-uncle James. Father can you pretend to be with the people who make new saints, that would probably settle most of the odd questions?"

Poor Father Forthil resembles a deer in the headlights. I think I'm starting to get why she and Harry click so well.

"That would be more awkward than anything," you wave off the suggestion. "I can just pretend I'm looking into old Chicago history for a paper on the Great Fire, that should deal with the direction of the questioning. Father you're here because I came to you first and you found precisely what you found, hints that Father Murphy may have been inspired to come to Chicago, that leaves an opening if they do find something mystical in those papers, but if it's something we can brush away then it's brushing we will do. If it comes down to it I can even write that paper..." or one of me can at least, you add inwardly as the car pulls up to a large and well kept house with a literal white picket fence, though looking a good bit more lived in than the Wilson's.

There's a car in the driveway that doesn't quite fit the scene, a Wagonized Dodge Charger, trying very hard to be a muscle car, right down to the bright red paint scheme. It's the kind of car someone who brags at parties about how they are both cool and financially responsible to the sight of glassy-eyed friends.

Detective Murphy is having a rather more extreme reaction to the sight she looks like someone who'd seen a ghost and not the spooky kind, though perhaps she might have preferred it. "Looks like my sister Lisa's in, and her husband. I really should have called ahead. Lisa isn't someone you want mixed up with the kind of stuff you're in, not even... not to any degree." Unless said husband had a very long name indeed it's odd she didn't use it. Bad blood, that much is clear, but what kind?

"We should go," she finally says. That bad? you wonder, but her next words drive the question of Murphy family dynamics entirely out of your mind. "He was there when Detective Green interrogated you."

And that would have been that... but for the older lady with a distinct resemblance to Detective Murphy glancing through the window at that moment and giving her a cheery, welcoming smile.

What do you do?

[] Push through, a little awkwardness won't kill you... though a lot might feel like it

[] Use Father Forthil as a social shield

[] Write in

OOC: Enjoy... poor Murphy definitely won't.

Shouldn't this be Lieutenant?

[X] Plan Woman With a Thousand Faces
-[X] Push through, a little awkwardness won't kill you... though a lot might feel like it
-[X] Use Black Mirror Incarnation to make yourself look similar, but distinct from Molly Carpenter
-[X] Subterfuge excellency, Etiquette Excellency if needed. All Things Betray with Willpower.
-[X] STUNT: you lean back into your seat, momentarily hidden from view by father Forthill. When next you move, exiting the car, it's Margret Smith, who is smiling at Lieutenant Murphy's relative, and definitely not Molly Carpenter. Not with that bearing, grace or looks, which, while similar from a distance, are those of an older woman with a different eye color and different subtle details. It's possible that she's a distant cousin, but that's all.

We have a perfect disguise charm. Unless someone inside is a wizard, an exalt, or a denarian, we can just be someone else. And if they are, well, we are always armed.
