Honestly I could also see a Design turn for our smaller ships.

@Alectai , do you have some sort of design in your pocket for a Crux-T, because if I didn't do the math wrong the current Crux-S costs 7 DP out of 20?

I'm looking at others but we really could do with a tune-up, and it's not that expensive to do it for the little stuff, unlike the Design for a Heavy Cruiser.

Yes, absolutely, I'll be pivoting it to a screening vessel now that we have the Scorpios to line-hold. 7 acceleration, and missiles in distressing quantities, what equipment would we need to increase their combat endurance anyway @HeroCooky ? Enhanced Supply or Manufactory?
 
Other notes: our current Andromeda costs 2 DP, I know why we've been hesitating to do a new design, but we currently have 23 DP just sitting around there.

Our Libra-Ts hold up better, but even they cost effectively 10 DP out of 25.

Yeah. It feels like we could turn the Andromeda into a long-ranged sniper. Currently they kind of just run away from fights, but maybe we could do research this turn to get immediate military upgrades, specifically the -[] Tetratek ARc Cannonade & -[] Snapshot Cogitation Improvements. Then we put a Cannonade (which remember, is similar-ish range to a Nova cannon, but single-target) on the Andromedas, as well as beef up their engines and maybe give them some stealth or a shield overload or something to protect them. If we don't do the research we could instead put some lances in there with Lense Cogitation Matrix Lattices & Pure Lenses.

I would love to stick some Kopesh's on the Crux's. Maybe we min-max super hard for N'Nonmiton Squadron's on the Libra's. Is it a good idea? Maybe not. Would it be hilarious? Yes. Yes it would.

I've also been sitting on the Cassiopeia design for a while, though we could probably beef it up quite a lot with our new upgrades. We have confirmation that it would help offset the infrastructure loss on integration, if we build enough of them. This will help us integrate Voxx without catastrophic consequences for our infrastructure.
Specifically with reference to the Cassiopeia, it was designed to help mitigate integration penalties & speed up integration & colonization. @HeroCooky Would it actually do that? It has effectively no other role.
In sufficient enough numbers, yeah.
So, updated version, with added Enhanced Supply Generation (more shuttles to help beef up the manufactory), spacious crew quarters (this ship is going to be worked to the bone from time to time, it needs all the comfort it can get) and a small troop compartment (to help carry pacification troops & evac people if necessary. It can also serve to backstop the Taurus' if we ever need to trooplift all of our ground forces at once).

The Cassiopeia is a ship co-designed by three Faith Orders to allow them and others to aid worlds in need of succor. Many times has the Federation brought new worlds into the fold, and had its infrastructure strained to the breaking point by the act. With the ongoing infiltration of the hive world of Voxx Primus, once more such a challenge is on the horizon. But the Cassiopeia is designed from the keel out to facilitate spreading the light, comfort and support of the Star Child to worlds such as Voxx Primus. It should represent a great boon to bringing new worlds into the fold both by integration and colonization, or being dispatched on humanitarian missions beyond the borders of the Federation.

As a result, the Cassiopeia is a ship built on compromise. The orders behind it were adamant it must be a destroyer-sized hull, to increase the number that could be produced and decrease the strain on the Federation to do so. But packing all of the desired functionality into a destroyer-sized hull was quite a challenge, even if it is one of the largest destroyer hulls ever produced by the Glimmering Federation. But those compromises mean it lacks both the speed and protection common to a truly military vessels.

But the Cassiopeia is not designed as a military ship. It has the equipment to put on a surprising burst of temporary speed if necessary, but it is not designed to see combat, or even be in the same system as hostile combatants. The hangers are present to help ferry supplies, missionaries and medical care to the surface. They are certainly capable of providing bombing runs or fighter interdiction for planetary conflicts, but it is not their primary role. The Thule's assigned to the Cassiopeia are the ones without a fervor for intensive void combat.

For the true purpose of the Cassiopeia is to spread the light of the Star Child through charity, healing, and sermon.

The factory's grub hall was, like always when the feeding bell was rung, filled to bursting with people, yet it was also filled with a trio of particular people.

Pfffft, nice funny addition and just adds to the Hivers getting used to basic food and misunderstanding with fruit. Also shows how our forces are doing on Vox Primuus. Getting factories and such set up, giving work and options to Hivers and they join for guaranteed meals and I don't blame them for getting confused as most of what you would eat is corpse statch and other bland food. Just so confused by it and the vibrant color of it.

Always, there is Always that one friend who's approach to new food is to do that and because they are hungry or love food.... it was a banana and they ate the waxy tough peel. Yah Food down there is shit or not shit, you eat what you get and don't give it much thought, hence why the idea of peeling off the skin didn't come to mind. OHhhh shit, That's why it was quiet. We kinda knew that from the QM who said that the Voxx Primus were using criminals and putting them in chain gangs used in some positions the ship crews. Also seems they were exterminating an Xenos speices. Not sure of what class they would have fallen under in our classification but that is a lost and one that could have joined us and given a good bonus. Now the War is over and redeployment and forces freed up they might start expanding in our direction now. So that's something to keep in mind.

Might be worth it to focus on the SBG's this turn and fill them out before a war happens, sadly means we also don't have much time as we thought for our slow infiltration of the Hive world. It'll still help us a lot should it come to it but I'd prefer a more solid base in the Hives then firing this rebellion off prematurely.

Oh wait, only decades longs? not Centuries Long? then they just started this war within the last Century.

Ahhh, okay. So it took me a few rereads on this but from what I understand the two men that were in the house waiting to kidnap the women and sell them as slaves or worst to a Gang called the Leather Coat. They killed the grandmother and were waiting for the wife and daughter to come back but seemed to be the daughter and father coming back. I'm guessing this the other gangs moving to take people or the like from our turf in the Hive? Sounds like its JUST being a normal target as a small gang and taking the opportunity as opposed to being targeted specifically or that feeding the population is having changes like looking more normal and better physique and thus being more tempting and bigger targets compared to the other gang's people.

I really don't to think why the girl is worth more then women with a name like the Leather Coats and trading them for rations.

Could just be life down in Hive, could be the start of our involvement in Gang wars in the Hive, or something else but it seems things are picking up now.

We might not have a turn, the thing about the Imperium is that it always has to have an Enemy, or it'll collapse under its own weight. We're a known front that's been quiet, which might suggest to them that it's easy meat for expansion, and they have a nigh unbreakable holdfast in Voxx Primus to boot, making it a very safe front to open.

I don't want our first warning that Van Zandt is attacking being "Sira has been colonized and fortified into a baby Fortress World because the Imperium can just Do That", we already saw them insta-set up and establish a Colony on a Hostile World with no atmosphere as a passive effect once they decided to attack us with Neon, and Neon wasn't a fraction of the strength of Van Zandt is.
Ehhh I think your starting to overreact again like how you thought the choice didn't mattered when we voted for the Kid over on Grace of Hymns to leave the cave. Yes Neon settle that planet as a side action but it could not turn it into a fortress world in one turn. It placed down basic defenses and veteran guard troops, the most we had to deal with was the fight not being over and done with like the other planets we invaded and a guerilla warfare we needed to deal with. Same thing here, we can beat them off the planet if they do try it and its better for us since we're luring out some forces from the Dutchy where they aren't being covered by the Defensive Stations and Guns around the planet. I'd rather use this time to fill out the SBG's and tech, maybe another Song to get another Fourth Action for next turn.

If we have to set off Voxx Primus early, what will that entail? just uprising in the lower Hive levels and forcing the Nobility to redirect some troops? just giving us a base of support and speeding up integrating it since we some populace of the already on our side and can vouch for us taking charge?

He did it. The QM already did it and gave us a 12 DP equipment for having the Best of the Best of all Thules as pilots for a ship. Even better then Space Marines pilots, not just their equal. So question, just HOW could are these pilots? like putting into feats and what they could do in a battle that we would notice in an update?

Obviously we should start storing some of these ships at End of Line! Surely nothing can go wrong there!

Now imagine the Pissed off Eldar Battlecrusiers coming to us and to tell to to stop poking around and risking awakening the Necrons.


Overall, I would heavily suggest we fill out the SBG's and not to worry about the colonizing the planet this turn. They can't turn it into a fortress world that quickly, at most we'll need to fight their Garrisons with whatever defenses they put up which aren't the Orbital Defenses around Vox Primuss. if we can smash a fleet or try to lure them out by threatening new world with the fleet in orbit that's a win.

The plan here is to get as many new equipment's online as soon as possible before we design a bunch of new ships. I'm specifically hoping to put the long-range Cannonade on the Andromedas to let them become snipers. Similarly, the melody is intended to help make a combat song.

There's also an argument for spending more turns on Voxx, to make it a bigger thorn in the side of the van Zandt's.

Can I ask what the plan is for Perception? Out of all the the future songs that have been theorized and planned for, I don't recall any that included this melody. Meanwhile we have melodies like Machinery, Innovation and Death that we can readily use in Songs. Especially Death by combining it with the Sun, the Void and Fire for a Combat song.

To remind people of something: songs are really cool, but Melodies can be used on their own. If/when we send a Choir or three to Voxx Primus to cause problems on purpose and find Psykers before they become Chaos Magnets, I think Perception will help.

ALSO we currently have half-blind Scouts, and while we need to fix that problem by making more of them with better quality, I do think that since they all have a Choir onboard, Perception could help our Scouts slightly compensate for their failings for now!

We're finally sending Choirs into Voxx? Good. I'm thinking at least 10, because I'd rather we use a number divisible by 5. Plus 10 leaves a good number of Choirs to do a bunch of stuff; like five could help with cleaning up enemy gangs while the other five search for Psykers in the Hive and train them up into more Choirs. I know 10 would still be a lot of Choirs we could potential lose, but even 5 would be super helpful for our gang on Voxx.

We haven't yet, and I think we have slightly more prep-work before that's the best idea (maybe one or two other actions)... but, like, it should be on the horizon.

I mean, @HeroCooky did say that Songs are our second pillar and we've been neglecting them. I would like to explore them to the best of our ability, and that means planning out what kind of songs we want and making sure we get the required Melodies. And Right now, I would like to get a Combat Song for void combat and a Song to get Humans to stand down so we aren't stuck in a protracted insurgency. Again.

Perception seems like a very good start to developing a wider Scouting Song.

Why bother trying to Precog things when a greater depth of knowledge of the present will do just as well if not better in some circumstances?
