The proposal by the Glimmering Federation to the Shipwright's Alliance to exchange building techniques and research information was, thanks to the thawed relations since the 621 Conference, received with agreeable eyes rather than intimidated and guarded ones.
The latter readily agreed to exchange the data they had on shipbuilding for dozens of technologies, with the yards of both sides eager to get their hands on constructing the better designs already brewing within their nations' think tanks and design offices once the news broke to them and the information began to spread.
And yet, the proposal for a Defensive Alliance was... received with a kind, yet firm, step back. In their opinion, such a massive commitment at a time when the Alliance was still recovering from their generational war, alongside a time when only one side of the equation had hostile neighbors to worry about, was ill-advised. Instead, an offer of officially signing a Declaration of Frienship was returned, and, unwilling to leave with a bad after-taste, the diplomats of the Federation agreed.
Oh well thats good, thanks to the conference we managed to that tech trade done. What techs did we even give them?
but yah they were in a generational war and only now starting to recover and rebuild, a NAP is enough for them and not to be dragged into another war. Wonder how this will affect things ten turns from now.
"In recent news," the Yeeni on the screen said, her green-dyed head mane popping from the color-screen like a wave of fresh grass, "the Spirit of Discovery has returned with news that they have found a ship graveyard filled with the multitude of defunct and inert ships found and towed to Study Site 44/c in decades prior. Retrieval of the ships is slated to begin in four years with purpose-built ships after a quick vote by the High Council. Alongside that, New Dawn R&D has announced that it managed a breakthrough in missile-weapon-related research, citing a breached data-chip reconstruction effort as the main source of the re-discovered Kopesh-Pattern Missile Pods now able to be used by ships of the Federation. The SDFs of Perfinda, Kriegar, Gathin, and Grace of the Faith have announced plans to incorporate them into new classes of monitors. Onto the sport. The Winged Arbalests have-"
DAMN IT YOU HYENAS! HOW DO YOU KEEP DOING THIS!?
At least we know WHERE the Yeeni are finding them and at this point we might have to start on the Necron Ships given how many we've found and are stacking them in the study site. Or just make an extra to give the go ahead on researching them to the Yeeni and hope things won't go wrong.
glad to see New Dawn breaking the wall when given their chance with more Missile options and seem to be the sort of one time use ones. Extra Missile pods you can't reload during battle. Oh? now THAT is interesting, QM why are the SDF's of Perfinda, Kriegar, Gathin and Grace of Faith specifically including them into their SDF monitors? just perference or what?
The factory's grub hall was, like always when the feeding bell was rung, filled to bursting with people, yet it was also filled with a trio of particular people.
People who stared at the last portion of their allocated meal.
Frinnis stared. Luska stared. Änü stared.
"...what the fuck is this?" Änü asked, poking the...yellow...thing on their plate.
"Food?" Luska answered hesitantly, stabbing into the tough exterior with her fork, bringing it to her face to sniff.
"It doesn't look like the food we usually get," Frinnis said, still staring. Sure, working for the new gang in one of their factories had huge perks, like getting free food. He was always willing to work a shift for free food, but then there were days like this. "Do we...eat all of it?"
"Mpfh?" Luska asked, looking at him from where she had bitten into the thing before swallowing. "I mean, tastes good. The exterior is hardy, but the inner thing is creamy and pairs well."
All three paused for a second, internalizing that she had just uttered an opinion on how the food tasted on a level more complex than 'shit/not shit.'
Then, the other two shrugged and went to munching.
And several rows away from them, an overseer looked on with mounting horror as the trio continued eating the bananas without peeling them.
Pfffft, nice funny addition and just adds to the Hivers getting used to basic food and misunderstanding with fruit. Also shows how our forces are doing on Vox Primuus. Getting factories and such set up, giving work and options to Hivers and they join for guaranteed meals and I don't blame them for getting confused as most of what you would eat is corpse statch and other bland food. Just so confused by it and the vibrant color of it.
Always, there is Always that one friend who's approach to new food is to do that and because they are hungry or love food.... it was a banana and they ate the waxy tough peel. Yah Food down there is shit or not shit, you eat what you get and don't give it much thought, hence why the idea of peeling off the skin didn't come to mind. I feel bad for the Overseer seeing this with Oranges skin and Watermelon rinds.
"VICTORY ON ALL FRONTS!" The vox screamed into the dingy office, rousing the two occupants inside from their bored attempt at another round of cards. The patriotic voice of the young man in the vox could easily be heard over, yet not diminish, the military march sounding in the background. "Our valiant void crews have successfully broken through the last pitiful attempts at a blockade against our righteous reclamation of Imperial Worlds, the Xenos Menace unable to coordinate with their stunted brains hungering for the souls of the innocents denied for so long by our protectors and the sacrifices of our soldiers!" One of the men stood up tiredly, stretching with both arms, and let out a satisfied moan at the 'pops and 'cracks that resounded in the small room. "As we speak, the last of their misbegotten planets are being cleansed of the last of their malevolent touch by our valiant troops, and the fruits of our fight shall soon flow from high to low!" The man made to turn off the vox but paused at that, some forgotten glimmer of interest rearing its long-dead head at the words. "In that vein, the Lady Protector has granted four hours of leave to all people of the Van Zandt Free Duchy to attend the parades and sermons in honor of the generals and soldiers who made this possible and all who have fallen in our decades-long war against the Xeno Menace! We shall-"
OHhhh shit, That's why it was quiet. We kinda knew that from the QM who said that the Voxx Primus were using criminals and putting them in chain gangs used in some positions the ship crews. Also seems they were exterminating an Xenos speices. Not sure of what class they would have fallen under in our classification but that is a lost and one that could have joined us and given a good bonus. Now the War is over and redeployment and forces freed up they might start expanding in our direction now. So that's something to keep in mind.
Might be worth it to focus on the SBG's this turn and fill them out before a war happens, sadly means we also don't have much time as we thought for our slow infiltration of the Hive world. It'll still help us a lot should it come to it but I'd prefer a more solid base in the Hives then firing this rebellion off prematurely.
Oh wait, only decades longs? not Centuries Long? then they just started this war within the last Century.
"Fucking propaganda groxshit," the man snorted, spitting off to the side unto the ground...where it hit a cooling arm lying in drying blood. "Fucking nobs probably won't stop fucking dead orphans for long enough to attend the parades in person," he grumbled, returning to the other man.
"Eh, better if they don't. Never know if one decides to go on a hunt, and then you gotta scramble before returning to work again." While he spoke, he idly grabbed a nearby framed picture showing a man and two women, both probably healthy enough to go for three ration weeks, the girl for five if they haggled with the Leather-Coats.
"Like you ever had to worry about a hunt," the first man snorted, picking up his cards again. "..." A measure of suspicion grew on his face as he looked at the hand in his hand, the pictures on them not in the places they should have been. "Di-"*click-clack*
The front door opened.
"Gaana, we're back!" a feminine voice said, swiftly followed by another voice that didn't belong to a child, much to the duo's annoyance.
"And we brought...dad?"
Both men stood, cudgels drawn.
Ahhh, okay. So it took me a few rereads on this but from what I understand the two men that were in the house waiting to kidnap the women and sell them as slaves or worst to a Gang called the Leather Coat. They killed the grandmother and were waiting for the wife and daughter to come back but seemed to be the daughter and father coming back. I'm guessing this the other gangs moving to take people or the like from our turf in the Hive? Sounds like its JUST being a normal target as a small gang and taking the opportunity as opposed to being targeted specifically or that feeding the population is having changes like looking more normal and better physique and thus being more tempting and bigger targets compared to the other gang's people.
I really don't to think why the girl is worth more then women with a name like the Leather Coats and trading them for rations.
Could just be life down in Hive, could be the start of our involvement in Gang wars in the Hive, or something else but it seems things are picking up now.
We might not have a turn, the thing about the Imperium is that it always has to have an Enemy, or it'll collapse under its own weight. We're a known front that's been quiet, which might suggest to them that it's easy meat for expansion, and they have a nigh unbreakable holdfast in Voxx Primus to boot, making it a very safe front to open.
I don't want our first warning that Van Zandt is attacking being "Sira has been colonized and fortified into a baby Fortress World because the Imperium can just Do That", we already saw them insta-set up and establish a Colony on a Hostile World with no atmosphere as a passive effect once they decided to attack us with Neon, and Neon wasn't a fraction of the strength of Van Zandt is.
Ehhh I think your starting to overreact again like how you thought the choice didn't mattered when we voted for the Kid over on Grace of Hymns to leave the cave. Yes Neon settle that planet as a side action but it could not turn it into a fortress world in one turn. It placed down basic defenses and veteran guard troops, the most we had to deal with was the fight not being over and done with like the other planets we invaded and a guerilla warfare we needed to deal with. Same thing here, we can beat them off the planet if they do try it and its better for us since we're luring out some forces from the Dutchy where they aren't being covered by the Defensive Stations and Guns around the planet. I'd rather use this time to fill out the SBG's and tech, maybe another Song to get another Fourth Action for next turn.
Too fucking late for that!
*Somewhere in the background* "Can't have
SHIT in De'tryt!"
HAH, the Yeeni our version of the Bloody Magpies. Do not leave your shit unattended because the Yeeni will have it dismantled and running off with it by the time you turn around. and they might actually bring back a fleet of them, jeez. Is this suffering from Success?
And you are up to around 42 million, are able to produce slightly-shitty guard-level gear in-house, feed your people, and fortified the shit out of your stuff. At this moment, the next step is to start shit with a lot of gangs in blatant power-grabs and see what can be gained.
Damn, not even near a billion yet. If we have to set off Voxx Primus early, what will that entail? just uprising in the lower Hive levels and forcing the Nobility to redirect some troops? just giving us a base of support and speeding up integrating it since we some populace of the already on our side and can vouch for us taking charge?
No you did not just-
N'Nonmiton Squadron - The pinnacle of Thule existence. They are, without compare, the best of Humanity. Period. There are no better pilots, in skill, dedication, ability, and record. To be one of these legends is the dream of all Thules, small and big, and for very good reason. Not even the pilots of the Lamenters can compare, try as they might.
He did it. The QM already did it and gave us a 12 DP equipment for having the Best of the Best of all Thules as pilots for a ship. Even better then Space Marines pilots, not just their equal. So question, just HOW could are these pilots? like putting into feats and what they could do in a battle that we would notice in an update?
Obviously we should start storing some of these ships at End of Line! Surely nothing can go wrong there!
Que the Eldar screaming and hugging each other at the sight of Necron Ships popping out of nowhere.
Now imagine the Pissed off Eldar Battlecrusiers coming to us and to tell to to stop poking around and risking awakening the Necrons.
Overall, I would heavily suggest we fill out the SBG's and not to worry about the colonizing the planet this turn. They can't turn it into a fortress world that quickly, at most we'll need to fight their Garrisons with whatever defenses they put up which aren't the Orbital Defenses around Vox Primuss. if we can smash a fleet or try to lure them out by threatening new world with the fleet in orbit that's a win.
