I kind of like that the Leo is something of a pocket Avenger class Grand Cruiser. Get in, then fire broadsides until either you or them are dead. Simple. Clean.

I do Wonder if it wouldn't be a better idea to lean into our connections to the Lamenters to find out more about the Van Zandt before making plans to subvert and conquer them. They are Space Marines, if they arrive in the Voxx Prime system with an Imperial style ship and a company of Marines offering to open relations and kill something inhuman for them for supplies I doubt they would immediately shoot at them. We'd probably be able to find out a lot about this so called free duchy without revealing the existence of the Federation.

Who knows, maybe they are actually reasonable and we don't need to fight them? Unlike Neon they didn't attack us, after all.

Just wondering if there should be a subvote for A Society Dynamic, Bold, And True if it wins since there are different options to pick from.

It's actually better than the Avenger because it's designed to actually float like a proverbial butterfly and sting like the bee, an Avenger is an armored brick that acts like a Battleship but doesn't have the mass and defenses of one to get away with it. The production model Leo I've charted out is running a turret build, which combined with Superior Gravimetrics makes it one of the most agile non-Eldar voidships in the business in its weight class--Slaughter-class excepted (Because while it has a normal degree of acceleration, its actual tactical speed is consistently treated as that of an Escort because the Scartix Coil is hot shit). It'll have at least a Thick Triple Hull and a Lattice level shield, which'll make it extremely hardy against anything capable of reliably scoring hits at that speed, and several other lovely advantages. The real question is "Are we better served by bringing the hull size up to give it more HP, or should I spend the DP benefits on getting Improved Security and Veteran Crews to further improve its ability to launch boarding attacks and resist the same"

Actually, question for you when you get a second @HeroCooky . What would be the better choice from a self-defense against counter-boarding perspective? Internal Security or Veteran Crews? If I do decide to go with increasing the Mass anyway.

...

Honestly, I'm starting to wonder if we should consider doing a write-in to produce a dedicated actual Naval Marines corps. Specialized void-troopers for ships expected to engage in ship to ship combat. The Imperium doesn't really employ any outside of Naval Stormtroopers, but those are absurdly rare (And ludicrously powerful for anyone who can actually get them--it's primarily something only flag ranks or extremely successful Rogue Traders have the connections to secure--and that only a small detachment of them.) We have nothing to fear from our dudes suddenly becoming corrupt and turning their guns on us because they saw a skull on a spike, so why don't we actually train Elites now that we're starting to branch into assault boats?

Voting for every plan that includes Civilian Warp Fleets & Logistical Production Analytica. Beacons may be better in the long term, but these options sound a lot more fun to play with.

[] Plan: The Subtlety of a Ghost, the Teeth of a Lion
-[] [Design x2] 12 DP total: That new Leo (8 DP), Ghost Class Carrier (2 DP), Taurus Secondus (2 DP)
-[] [That Revolution School/Missionary School action, I have ideas for how to frame it.]

Generally I like this plan, with one addendum - I think we need to do a shipbuilding actions of Libras and Cruxs just to have a fleet for military actions in the immediate future. That means only one design action, for the Taurus-S, Chameleon/Ghost and then either bank towards the Leo or design two destroyers or something. Maybe stealth minelayer/torpedo u-boat & the Cassiopeia?

That will let us see the Leo in combat before we design the successor.

We may also need to delay the school to raid into chaos territory. We'd still be prepping for Voxx infiltration with the ghost design.

Edit: I don't know why my vote isn't showing up on this one.

Like, I think we have enough ships for now tbh? What I mean by, "For now" to be clear is literally for the next turn (While still making a new Leo and therefore getting a Heavy Cruiser, so hardly like not building at all, tbh) since the Chaos Forces are temporarily turtling.
