Regardless of how the vote goes, we should colonize Monresast immediatly.

Because colonizing a planet that's clearly in our zone of influence but empty is something a mafia group would do.

Exactly. It will be like confederation from total war
But it is going to take 5 actions before it starts working and even then the converted systems are random and the progression was described as "slow" so it is a good idea to not hope too much.

With our action economy being what it is, Chaos on the neighboor sub-sector and the chance that we might end up converting other systems we get in contact with over time instead of the Families(and the rest of Macabre) combined with the random nature of the future means we might not get things to go that way.

Also, did anyone else notice the [Chapter] As The Codex Demands action went from (0.5/5) to (1/6)? What happened there?

Honestly at this point I'm beginning to lose hope in that there exists the possibility that talking might be possible and that we don't constantly have to wave our stick around ever chance we get but I'll give it one more shot. Please mafia please don't just explode and cause problems for us.
It's not all that bad. Talking to the Kil'drabi, Yeeni, and so far the Mashan has gone pretty well for us. And talking with humans went well enough in our home subsector like in Droma and Neumidia.

Wow Macarbe seems to have interesting names for it's planets like Conar can go fuck himself Centeral Prime FUCK OFF MY PLANET'S NAME!!! -Conar ↑Then give my fucking drugs back! Asshole, and Volion's Fall with Great Volian and Better Volion [With Grammar!], and who could forget the Epsax system's shared Sax Primu Majoris Dominus Grandus Titanicus.
And how can you forget the crown jewel of the subsector, the system of Gigachad?

Because they want to join us so I don't see why we are throwing them under the bus like this for a bunch of jackoffs.

[X] "Stay the fuck away, assholes."

They do automatic progression of .5 a turn. So they'll complete on their own, though we might want to give them something at 4.5 to speed it.

[X] "Sure, we can talk."

I dont mind talking but this Ashren families sound like some large scale gang/mafia group honestly.

In other news it looks like we colonized Valhidem 3 somehow? How did that happen, @HeroCooky?
It was never fully abandoned, just enough to make it basically a [Spend Action To Settle] Type System. Which you just did. There were several ten-thousand people left there, which you've concentrated in a trio of towns and are currently aiding in building up some infrastructure and industry before green-lighting colonial settlements.
@HeroCooky what the Ashran Families deal? what there politics, goverment like treament of citzens ect?
They are a Mercantile Confederation, with, as far as you know, governments ranging from Corporate Oligarchies to Merchant Republics. They mostly want to make money, trade stuff, prosper, and kick Chaos in the nuts whenever it pops up. Their treatment of their people can be summes up as "Eh." Some places have harsh laws, some not, most generally agree that shooting someone in the streets is no bueno.
@HeroCooky , what do we know about the system they're trying to hold onto?
Its a pretty unimpressive Reef World mostly focused on fishing industries and Coral-based art. They conquered it from a group of warlords and are currently busy putting a unified-ish government in place. Seems based around fleet sizes.
Okay, okay, I know what to really ask, @HeroCooky . What do the locals of those two systems know about the Asharns or whatever. Like, when they were protesting their actions to maintain central control, what actions were they doing?
Answered some above, but their actions were heavy-handed crackdowns on protests, mass incarceration of those against them and the new governments (plural important here) they were creating, and the mass forced-selling of all industries/companies (>50.000 to <10 Employees) to their benefit.

Losses in Hausen from Chaos.

You know a whole two planets trying to be diplomatic is a damn accomplishment. We should encourage this, set a record we try and negotiate always if given the option. Reputation is really needed in this messed up universe.

[X] "Sure, we can talk."

Also diplomacy doesn't have to be nice, we can still try and convince them to join. If it fails we can decide later on what to do.

[X] "Stay the fuck away, assholes."

Changed my mind. After re-reading everything related to them I don't think it's a good idea to let them stay.

Why do you huys wants to be rude, like sure they aren't us, but hating chaos and not being total dicatorships should be enough to let them have one system for the potencial of easier conversion in the future.

We are not the early day imperium we should use diplomacy and maybe they will tell us more about clusterfuck that is their subsector, not to mention the potencial trade

They honestly have quite a few red flags with the whole we are an upstanding stellar nation helping this lawless sector of space and taking over planets by force, at least we asked if they wanted to join.

The Imperium hates Chaos too, that doesnt mean they are our friends. In fact we find them to be pretty awful. Like if you want to be buddy buddy with the Glimmerlings hating Chaos is just how you get in through the door. Its the bare minimum you need to achieve in order for us to give you more than just pot shots. You must oppose Chaos this much to ride.

There are other things you need to do for us to be your friend and engaging in imperialist wars of expansion causes our eyebrows to begin to rise. Its not enough to just hate Chaos.

They're still assholes, but they're asshooes we at least can work with. Unlike Neon, this seems less the evils of "the cruelest, bloodiest regime imaginable" and more "Industrial Revolution USA/modern China except scaled up to an interstellar polity". Not great, but not the worst we can work with either, and we could at the least use this as an opportunity to try out more subversive methods by spreading the Star-Child's faith through trade with them in preparation for a revolution. Try out the methods that the Tau's Water Caste uses, y'know?

[X] "Sure, we can talk."

Can't say I have much interest in peace here, but we have plenty of fires. Maybe some element of their leadership or culture will be uniquely useful?

They can serve as a buffer state on that front while we deal with the chaos infected sector nearby.
