It's the Orks. They got thrice your DP, thrice your troop transport capacity, and thrice your fire-rate for shootas.I hope we're not about to find out that even Ork Ships have twice our DP investment, right?

On the upside, they alway enter a system with moderate to heavy damage from scrapping with daemons, have armor worth jack shit if its not in the front, and usually employ the cunnin' tactic known as "Da Big Red Button" where they'll charge at you and have only half their engines explode.
Orks.
Essentially, but they do start to perform horrendously worse far faster in prolonged combat where they can't catch a resupply or repair their stuff. They are here to have a good time, not a long time.... Ah, so attacking them is a non-starter without an overwhelming numerical advantage, but swatting them down after they came through the Warp is a lot more doable, huh?

Maybe we could wait until next turn to design a Frigate? If we finish up assimilating Droma III we'll get 2 more Heavy Industry which could be enough to get us an extra DP.HAHA TIME FOR SHIPS.
[X] Plan: TIME FOR SHIPS
-[X] [Military] Construct A Warp Ship - [Aries-Class]
-[X] [Military] Construct A Warp Ship - [Aries-Class] x2
-[X] [Military] Design A New Voidship Class - [Frigate]
Rolls us out 4 more Aries-class Corvettes like we were asked, and we can design a Frigate to serve as a bombardment/troopship hybrid. That should put us in good stead to parry any initial attack and leverage that into a counteroffensive.
7 Destroyers and a Frigate, plus our SDF monitors, should be a good match for their initial strike, and our focus on survivability for our first tranche of vessels should minimize our losses and attrition in that exchange. Our infrastructure is now at a point where our internal affairs are mostly sorted with no active deficiencies (Just areas that are breaking even), which is already probably a step above the usual Imperial standard.
Anyway, I imagine we're going to get some updates to shipbuilding now that we can build Frigates @HeroCooky ?

Yes, that was a not-so-subtle push by me as the tutorial has finished, and the Orks are not gonna be pulling any punches. Is that why the push was for us to more than double our numbers before the first real wave comes in?
You, due to a trait, actually do do that. But if you mean one action on Design, another to build it, then no.Can we use a action to build a new ship in the same turn that we design it?

[X] Preparing for the Long Haul
-[X] [General] Assimilate Droma III - (3/4)
-[X][Military] Design A New Voidship Class - Frigate
-[X] [Military] Construct A Warp Ship - [Aries-Class]
This is almost Alectai's plan, but may I remind you that Heavy Industry both has a potential impact on Design Points and is also apparently critical for the long-haul of equipping and setting up military forces.
Getting two Heavy Industry for a single action is an absolute steal, and allows us to more consistently resist if anything goes wrong.
I remind you, we Had Heavy Industry 2, and we don't lose Unlocks when we reduce our capacity due to integration.
If there's a DP to be gained from HI 2, we've already gotten it. So using it to take Cooky's Hint of "We need at least 4 more Aries and a Troopship" feels really important
We don't lose unlocks, but they get significantly harder to produce, as far as I can tell.
Also unless I'm taking crazy pills, a Frigate isn't a troopship?
Is this some bafflingly weird 40k-ism?
I've got an idea for a Frigate that serves as a heavy flotilla leader, torpedoes and bombardment--troop transport roles. We were told we explicitly need a specialized troop carrier if we hope to have a fair shot, and we don't have any dedicated troop support modules for Destroyer weights, so I'm assuming they show up in Frigate.
That's... weird? I mean I guess, but it's a frigate. 40k is weird and stupid if that would count as a "troopship."
