I really don't think Harrowmont has the motive nor ambition for the position. I'm hoping the Sin-Eater has some ideas at least amongst those in Vegas.
Forget the motive and ambition.
He lacks the capability to do the job. No experience wheeling and dealing with businessmen and financiers, with low criminals and the like.
He wants to be a wizard, not to be a city manager anyway.
1) It's not like we can tell who's in on what can we? As far as they know anyway. We're kicking the faction that was involved out, because there's no need to take a risk we missed someone.
More truthfully the point is to screw over the red court who is an enemy of ours. We just need the excuse for shivving them, and it doesn't have to hold up in court because they're not going to sue us.
The difference is that the red court doesn't have a shield of necessity and are generally worse for mortals than the fey. Hurting them as an institution is the point, I want excuses to do that more and not less.
2) They have bigger fish to fry at this point. I genuinely believe that the major powers aren't going to have an interest an anyone starting a war in this place after it's stable again. They'll get little to no support because we don't live in any sort of legal system that enforces rules about this. We could harvest all their souls and leave town without doing anything that would require and Accorded signatory to help them.
3) To be blunt about it, this isn't a courtroom and being unfair is expected. Nobody is going to be citing precedent from the reds to deal with winter. If the sin eater kicks them out instead of us any resources they'd send to defend their investments would be spent doing so anyway.
4) This just seems like an extension of that really. If you don't want to call it a war fine, but we are stabbing each other where convenient.
Overall I want to hurt them and their interests. I think we can do this so that it's over before they can respond, at which point attempting to move on the issue will present openings to either us or the council.
If that takes us from totally not a war to war then so be it.
The only way you're likely going to talk me around on this is to present something specific that hurts the red court worse than doing this.
1)QM has addressed this.
2) Im not so sure that the Red Court would be willing to take a public L here at the hands of an enemy. Especially given the questionable sanity of the Red King. Hence I'd rather have the Freeholding Lord do it.
He has the right and indeed the responsibility.
3)Of course its a courtroom. There may be no judiciary, but its still
The supernatural has very long memories about this sort of thing, and it doesnt really decay off your social credit report.
And yes, people cite precedent about this sort of thing; when Iku Turso came to play in Avalon, Titania's initial appeal was to custom and precedent, not to pure might.
Even though she did have the pure might.
4)I've expressed my opinion about this at length previously.
Subverting a supernatural truce in order to go after a personal and corporate enemy is not in our longterm interests, or that of Creation That Is. And it actively impairs our ability to defend against the existential threat the Outsiders represent, because it means that it will make destro factions impede us next time instead of aid, or at least not impede..
Its not like the Red Court wont give us plenty of excuse to murder them in the future.
Just thinking about it, what does Molly look like to a reasonably informed outsider:
She radiates a massive amount of Yomi energy.
She summons and implants Cyberdevils in things.
She has had a significant conflict with Emma-O (who is locked in perpetual war with Mikaboshi).
She has traded helltech to the White Council.
She has just deployed a force of cyber-bakemono.
She has a shintai form, very much like a Wan Kuei
She must look a lot like a Greater Akuma of Mikaboshi. Given he was apparently a mortal mage before his ascension as a Yama King, he could either have worked out how to break Yi's Curse, or how to make wizards into greater akuma.
Her presence in both Chicago and particularly Las Vegas would make sense in that context. The Lord of the Wicked City could well want to expand his influence in both.
I wouldn't be surprised if he sends an emissary soon.
More particularly, it means that if the Red Courr objects to our behaviour here, it has to take account of the fact that we may be the agent of one of the most powerful Yama Kings, and do they really want to escalate a fight with him.
I agree with BronzeTongue on this one.
We are entirely too far away from Mikaboshi's areas of interests for him to be a plausible patron. And frankly we have too much metaphysical mass to be a Greater Akuma anyway, especially given as we have none of their vulnerabilities; Molly still regularly goes to church, and lives under the same roof as a Knight and his Sword.
And ever since we shanked a Walker in front of half the White Court nobility, any idea of our being a Greater Akuma went out the window.
If I had to guess, given reasonable knowledge of our family history and current circumstances, the current leading bets are
- Young Yama King of a new Hell
- Mortal human who somehow got like an absolutely amazing deal from some desperate or eccentric Yama King
- Part-dragon daughter of Siriothrax and Charity Carpenter
- Rogue Denarian
What Im actually more interested in is how her fellow students are seeing her.
Because 7 months ago she was that outgoing girl whose friends were drug-involved, got arrested at a party for drug possession and sentenced to community service, and was dating an older guy. Y'know, picture of teenage rebellion in daddy's girl
Her friends were largely a class ahead, and not in this school.
Then she goes away for almost a week, comes back looking a little ill, but improves, and a month later is driving a used hundred thousand dollar Mercedes AMG.
In public school.
First thought would be drug money, especially given her parents still driving what they are, but nope not a hint.
And high schoolers being high schoolers, someone will have asked. Second guess being family inheritance.
No older boyfriend, no parties.
The new car doesnt come with any socializing. She's not been to a party in 7 months, and just a club once IIRC.
The fact that she doesnt have any new friends other than Izzy and Alec(and now Isabella, new high school junior)means that she's largely ignored any of the social butterflies that come with that sort of thing.
And the first time someone makes a social gambit in her hearing, she burns the guy so badly he breaks down in tears in public.
And if they see her in town, she's mostly with old people(by high school standards).
Girl's a cryptid.

COMMENTARY
*tilts head*
The Library just commissioned a hit on Marco, didnt they? Huh.
Lets hope he tries shit and gives us an excuse.
Samuel was the Dragon? The spelling suggests that it isnt Hispanic, so the Dragon was not originally of Hispanic extraction. That whole wager is supporting evidence for his having been a full co-conspirator in this business, not just someone who was inveigled into this plot.
Ferryman has got 12 dice dicepools, which speaks to superhuman base rolls.
And some very weird luck on his dice rolls. Im tempted to burn an Excellency and activate Hellscry Chakra.
Authority of the Psychopomp means that he's a Creature of Death; ghost, death spirit, death god or necromancer.
Stars shit again?
Someone is getting the Celestial Attunement Merit.
@DragonParadox
Who's the ebony skinned fellow we saw in that Crown vision.
Is that supposed to have been the Ferryman?
Because he appears to be the last factor from the vision that remains unidentified.
It is not, though you can also use items that in WoD would contain Tas like Lily's tears as a base for Splendors, just without the intermediary mage systems that do not do anything in this context.
Gonna point out that by those rules?
As a Solaroid, Molly's tears probably count as well, as would her blood, nails and so on.
Ditto with Lydia and Lash.
He was a signatory until he got expelled for the very shit he did to the Archive.
Like I said, I dont think he was an Accords member at the time he pulled the Archive attempt.
The Order of the Blackened Denarius was, but he personally wasnt.
The Order got kicked after that stunt, of course.
But its gonna have to wait until I am free to see if I can find the passage.
