Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I assume it had no prior effect because we werent previously trying to directly work against Sandra.

Plus, this is supposed to be a ritual with a positive feedback loop, where the magic begets chaos which strengthens and propagates the magic and its effect which worsens the chaos. And it has only been up for a couple hours.
It makes sense that it was still building in effect and intensity farther away from the epicenter of the working.

And apparently, Molly thinks its plausible IC.
It being plausible that it gets stronger the closer you are isn't the same as anything else you said being correct.

Harry was definitely working against her when he hid from that hitman and we didn't see anything.

It would have done something, but the specific claim that we'd eat +2 dc to everything is barely better than a wild guess. If you were right it'd be by coincidence, not because we have meaningful evidence.

Yes, for language, somewhat for cultural cues, but faking that in real time would still be a Charisma+Subterfuge roll not to come off as too alien and it is not their best stat to say the least.
I wasn't thinking for acting or negotiation just for basic information when you know agents need it. And stupid quick translation for critical info and just general downtime when trying to learn stuff.

If you were right it'd be by coincidence, not because we have meaningful evidence.
I'm willing to believe it since it would agree with the narrative. Those Outside are helping Sandra with this curse to oppose those who would interfere with their plans. So the more you work against her the more it presses down on you. It is just a guess but it wouldn't surprise me.

I agree with Yog, don't guess and don't cede the initiative for nothing, Bronzetongue pointed out how it bit us in the ass with a Akuma, learn a little from the past:

Also, Uju's plan is awfully optimistic, regenerating essence for 2 hours? When the enemy is coming with no way to check what the enemy is preparing during that time? That's just asking to get shanked when we come back and/or all our efforts with the ritual to have been negated.

First, don't guess. Check what the opposition's plans are. We can have total informational superiority. Use it.
1)This is a university in daytime.
I will repeat, this is a fuckmothering public university building. In daytime. On a university campus with *checks* an enrollment of 25,000 undergraduates and 4000 graduate students. 800 of those students live on campus.

Deliberately baiting a fight here is unconscionable.
Run. Away.

2)Weapon turrets do not work that way.
They are not plug and play platforms, and a university building does not have any of the infrastructure to support one or more of them.

3) You most definitely do not want to answer questions if some student calls 911 after the events in Vegas today when they sees someone humping firearms on campus
Or campus police drives by, gets an eyeful and asks what the fuck you are doing on university property.

Shit, Nevada state law explicitly bans bladed weapons of more than 3 inches on educational campuses, let alone firearms.

Columbine was only 7 years ago, and the Virginia Tech shootings are April this year IC
The response to a report of weapons on campus will not be minimal.
Especially not on a day when Sandra's staged attacks have already killed 35 people and counting

Okay but how does just disappearing from this place after throwing the flare saying here we are not baiting a fight into an empty campus full of innocent people except assure their death because there's no one here to defend them or otherwise fight back Sandra's forces.

This campus was doomed the second we decided to have a ritual here. Disappearing into ourselves just means everyone here gets to die for no reason. That's why people wanted to call in a bomb threat so the campus would be deserted, so too late for that now I guess though I imagine you're completely fine with that right because the lives of the people of Vegas didn't matter to you before I don't see why you care about the lives of the people on this campus now.

Sandra will send people here and burn down the library, and probably not only that itself but rather more around it.

We ensured that already.

Might as well defend it, anyone still on the campus might get drawn into the trouble anyway.

Sandra doesn't care. The probability that her people leave without causing damage is negligible. Remember, one of her goals right now is causing chaos. Shooting up a university very much helps with that. Also allows her to potentially destroy records of herself attending.

Add to that the access to the ritual site and Harrowmont's place if work for the purpose of scrying and attacks (if DF1 villain could kill people remotely, Sandra can too. What are the odds there are no hair, half eaten food in the fridge, old shoes to be worn inside, etc? Running doesn't help.

Can we just summon predators drone equivalent demon possed instead of people. We need the stealth air superiority. And if you are worried about detection just cast a veiling ritual on them, we have full casters here already.

Funny, not that long ago you were the one pointing out that *we don't need to send a bomb threat, there's almost nobody on campus anyway*.

Funny how things change when they arrange you.

As others pointed out, disappearing into our hell after this stunt like your plan does will not save anyone on campus, it'll just ensure nobody's there to protect them when Sandra's forces arrive.

Edit:

And going to the hanging gardens will not change the destination of Sandra's forces right away, so the campus is still going to get attacked anyway.

That is not true.
Sandra will send people looking for us. If we are not here, they will go looking for us.
Sandra does not CARE about property for property's sake.

Furthermore, the QM has said we can simply move the library with MHM, leaving nothing here to find.

This is not true.

Sandra only benefits from causing chaos when the ritual is up. It is down. Chaos gains her nothing while the ritual is down, and risks costing her forces that she knows she will need soon enough.
She is not going to risk forces in confrontation with mundane authorities when there is a magic threat out there.

Running helps.

Word of God:
This is not Harrowmont's house, its a public university building frequented by THOUSANDS daily. Cleaned by janitors daily.
Between them both? There is no chance that there is anything here that can be used that way against him

Especially if we move the library.

Furthermore, we know from Death Rites that such things are blocked by wards anyway; the attempt by a Denarian ritualist to kill Dresden by using his blood to cast an entropy curse got shut down once Harry got behind his wards.
Get Harrowmont into the Gardens, which is Ishtar's local place of power, and he's fine.

Besides, Sandra has a Hellgate to break and a looming deadline. She doesnt have the time or effort to attempt that sort of remote casting at this time..

No, power armor is only for the very augmented soldiers for the City of Laws, who have no infiltration training and no knowledge of English or American culture.
Pity about that. Alansons dont require augmentations to operate.

Though to be fair, if we could deploy significant numbers of Alanson R-25 equivalents in platoon strength on Earth, we'd probably auto-win most small engagements involving physical entities:
•••• Alanson R-25 Hardsuit (Device)
Enlightenment 4, Primal Energy 20,
Background Cost 8 pts.

Among the standard gear for Iteration X monster-hunters,
an Alanson R-25 Hardsuit provides strong yet flexible protection.
With a few small modifications, an Alanson suit can be adapted
to low-G environments, alternative dimensions (aka the Umbra),
aquatic theatres of operation, and standard Earth ground settings.

A hypertech variation on modern military body armor, the Alanson has stealth technologies, variable weapon mounts, lifesupport attachments, infrared and ultraviolet viewing apparatus, stim-pack receptacles (to provide much-needed, albeit temporary boosts), and a light yet formidable level of protection.

Since the first Alanson units rolled off the assembly lines at the turn of the millennium, the original bulky armor has gained
protective capabilities and slimmed its formidable profile. Current generation hardsuits weigh about 30 pounds (less than half of
the original 70), offer better armor, and lack the shutdown flaw of earlier designs. An agent in an R-25 unit still has an imposing
silhouette, but the newest-generation armor can be concealed beneath a long coat if the agent removes the helmet.

Thanks to the Age of Terror and its subsequent prevalence of armored police
and military forces, the average Sleeper would regard an Alanson suited operative as a cop or soldier in really cool gear.

System: A compact network of form-fitting composite material armor, micro-servos, a body-stocking, and a selection
of modular kits that can be switched out within a turn or two
(assuming that the user has access to the various modules, of
course; each module costs extra points) allows an Alanson-suited
agent to employ the following abilities:

• Armor: Seven additional soak dice of protection shield
the character from bashing, lethal, and aggravated
damage. The bulk of the suit and servos reduces the
wearer's Dexterity-based dice pools by two dice, and
he must be wearing the helmet in order to get the full
protection for his head.

• Strength: Those internal servos add two dice to the
wearer's Strength-based dice pools, except for feats
that involve jumping or running. The agent can run a
maximum of 20 yards per turn, and that level of activity
quickly strains his muscles even with the help of the suit.
(Assume one turn of running per dot of Stamina.)

• Temperature Control: Internal heating and cooling units
keep the wearer relatively comfortable in temperatures
ranging between 0 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to
45 degrees Celsius).

• Hard Fists: The suit's reinforced gloves and boots add
one die to the damage of all weaponless strikes. That
damage, without weapons, inflicts bashing-style harm.
Concealed blades can be deployed within the gloves,
making that damage lethal instead.

• Integrated Communications Interface (ICI): Assuming
that the agent's wearing his helmet, each Alanson
hardsuit has radio, Internet, VDAS, GPS, telephone,
and video capability.

• Cross-Environment Life Support System (CELSS)
(3 pts.): When fitted with an enclosed helmet and an
integrated life-support pack, the hardsuit can sustain
its operator in hazmat, underwater, deep cold, intense
heat, and Deep Umbral environments. Each hour of
operation costs one point of Quintessence. Such use is
coincidental but not concealable.

• Enhanced Targeting Capacity (ETC) (4 pts.): After
spending a turn engaging the ETC system, the operative
can add four dice to distance-attack dice pools, thanks
to the targeting-and-guidance computer interface.

• Heavy Armor (1 pt.): With a layer of reinforced plating,
the suit gains three additional levels of protection (three
soak dice, or 10 dice total), at the cost of reduced mobility
(10-yard run) and increased bulk (three-die penalty to
Dexterity-based rolls).

• High-Intensity Plasma Assault Unit (HIPAU) (9 pts.):
A removable weapons system allows the operative to aim
his arm and generate a blast of hot, focused, plasmic
death. Each shot consumes a point of Quintessence.
The player rolls a Dexterity + Energy Weapons attack,
which acts as the focus instrument for a six-die Forces 3/
Prime 2 attack. This blast of energy inflicts aggravated
damage. Outside of Technocracy Constructs or the
Otherworlds, the HIPAU constitutes a vulgar Effect.
Appendix II: Odd Ends 657

• Nanotech Self-Repair Module (NSRM) (3 pts.): With a
successful Enlightenment roll (difficulty 7), the suit can
temporarily repair itself. Full repairs must be made back
at headquarters, but the nanotech patch kit can fix minor
damage within a few minutes and major damage in an
hour or two. On a botched roll, however, the systems
go amok, wrecking the suit's integrity within a minute
or two. The agent inside the suit had best get out of it
quick; otherwise, she could find herself trapped inside
it… or possibly – if she's been injured as well – integrated
into the suit through various unpleasant "repairs."

• Self-Contained Emergency Medical System (SCEMS) (4
pts.): If the operative deploys the "seams," advanced drugs
and medical nanites conduct biopatch healing. Each use
expends one Quintessence point. The player rolls four
dice (the module's Enlightenment) against difficulty 6 to
trigger the SCEMS' Life 2 Heal Self Effect – an Effect
that remains coincidental so long as the operative isn't
reattaching limbs or hauling his guts back into place.

• Standardized Primal Energy Containment Matrix
(SPECM) (5 pts. each): Removable Primal Energy
units allow the suit to carry and utilize an additional
10 points of Quintessence. One suit can accommodate
two SPECM units.

Other than the functions of certain vulgar modules, the
Alanson hardsuit remains coincidental in tech-based reality zones.
A lone operative needs about six turns to put the suit on or take it
off, but he needs only half that time if he's got a trained assistant
to help him into or out of the armor. Because it's an independent
Device, any Technocracy-trained operative – Enlightened or
otherwise – can use it. For obvious reasons, however, only the
most trusted extraordinary citizens merit hardsuit training. These
suits are far too expensive for common deployment

Sandra is about to destroy USA as a nation. Distracting mundane authorities by instigating a massacre in a university is a perfectly valid move.

No we cant.

For one thing, this is US military airspace within 10 miles of an air force base and 1 mile of an international airport with hundreds of flights. You're just going to pull mundane aggro.
For a second, Sandra is underground. Aircraft wont help.

Sandra is about to destroy USA as a nation. Distracting mundane authorities by instigating a massacre in a university is a perfectly valid move.
Sandra is preparing a defense against a potential last ditch assault by supernaturals
She does not have any interest in risking her goons fucking up and drawing attention to her location.
Especially since the chaos ritual is not up to run interference or to draw power from shit like this.

It's his place of work. If you tell me that there are no personal affects of his in it, I'll laugh.
Laugh all you want.

Its his place of work, not his home. Aint nothing here of sufficient mystical significance for mundane magic.
Dresden's PI office provided nothing to his enemies to use against him either, and the Red Court literally owns the building.
The fact that Exalted bullshit works on random small shit is deluding you to think thats how it works for other mages.

And the QM has been explicit that we could move everything here into the Brass Courts anyway.

In hindsight even if we didn't use our potential drones maybe we should have tried to use Uncle Sam's.

I don't know exactly the Library would do if we explained the stakes (outside of the exaltation, because they don't need that temptation) but the US spends a lot of money on being able to deliver great quantities of violence in a bewildering variety of forms. They'd find something. Probably never leave the city again after learning the significance of the place, but still.

Incidentally, I think this would also essentially destroy Mexico as well, and it'd be messy death for both of us. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended with a significant number of people outside of the blast radius getting dragged down with us at the end.

Veiling ritual should be able to hide them. And bunker busters can penetrate caves.
