How so? This all seems pretty typical for wardens.

For reference, I've quoted the threat analysis recommendations. And while this recommendation are somewhat outdated due to Legion growth as well as the Wardens being deployed against chaos, you are still deploying them in numbers that are very small.

As a reference, most other Legions deploy 10-20 thousand Astartes to a hotspot, which is more than what you're deploying to some ME worlds. While this is manageable, it is risky. And it's a risk you're taking on all fronts.

Not to mention unknown unknowns are always a risk.

There is something to be said, though, that skill against a favored enemy does make up for a lack of sufficient numbers. If one marine can do the job of 5-10 because they are skilled enough, you can make an argument that you have the necessary components in place.

That said, this makes sense in a purely offensive purpose. If the plan is for a garrisoned or defensive posture this is quite bad because you just don't have the numbers to secure your parameters.

@Daemon Hunter If I had to make the argument to Karcer, it would be fully on the grounds of these being a lot of lightning strike offensive designed to eliminate enemy elites and soften the targets up for the IA, who will then deal with a lot of the chaff via entrenched positions.

Oh she assumes as much. It's just that she has significant worries over it even then.

Based on Karcer's voiced opinions on the options, the only one I'd be comfortable with dropping is the Unidentified Hostile deployment. Sadly that won't free up a whole lot of resources, though Maticus himself is obviously a major single asset

...Oh so we're recreating the maelstrom crusade in miniature to remind the locals that we do in fact still got it.

[X] Plan Run The Gauntlet

Yeah, Karcer is not wrong that this plan is risky even when factoring in what Ori/we know of the EW capabilities but...welp, we asked for this duty, literally, and on the discord the fat was thoroughly chewed over to give this plan the greatest chance of success.

[X] Plan Run The Gauntlet

Yeah, this may be one of those turns where we loose half our legion, but fuck it. This shit cannot sit.

Karcer would also recommend dropping everything from the Cemetery onwards as well. Just due to believing those forces are better served beefing up the primary Warden deployments.

Just so we're fully aware of what Karcer would have in mind could you give an overview on what worlds she would prioritize and which ones she would drop Daemon?

She'd deploy forces to Ship-City 02-03-61, World 02-06-09, the Maykrs, and Lahrens. She'd drop everything else.

[] Ship-City 02-03-61 - An ancient remnant of mankind's first voyages into the Maelstrom, this ship is occupied by a Tzeentchian cult, with signs that there was previously conflict between Khornates and Tzeetchians. Disturbingly, the cult present has shown signs of elevated competence, supplementing blasphemous arts with mundane skill, and a multitude of defensive systems that rely both on mundane and magical methods. Threat Level: Maxima Extremis. "I don't know why you redacted the entire description, but if you felt the need to do it, I *highly* recommend it's taken care of."
-[] 25k Astartes, Oriacarius, Assassin Execution Force, Night Watch
[] World 02-06-09 - The majority of this daemonworld's description contains multiple high-threat cognito-hazards. What we have been able to strip down into a readable format describes a planet covered in perpetual shadow filled with eldritch monsters. The Imperial Army scout force sent here deserted after delivering their report, and subsequent search teams found that all had killed themselves within a month of the report's delivery. Threat Level: Maxima Extremis. "Well, after seeing what it did to the scouts, I really think you should ensure this world is dealt with. Whatever the Imperial Army can provide you, I will ensure you get it if needed."
-[] 25k Astartes, Maticus, Baldur, Titan Legion
[] The Maykrs - A Xenos species that resides upon several tainted worlds visited by a variety of unique daemons, they are led by an exiled daemon prince of Khorne. This has led to a number of atypical daemons present, including multiple hybrid daemonic forms that have been used in a variety of extermination campaigns against humans in the past. Threat Level: Maxima Extremis. "If I assign the Imperial Army, we could achieve victory eventually. But it would cost billions of lives over the course of decades. I would like to avoid that possibility."
-[] 25k Astartes, Doom Slayer, Vigilance, Cherished Son
[] Lahrens - A research world occupied by insane Squats who have been delving into some of the darkest non-Chaos arts. Initially expected to be a simple invasion, the Imperial Army was set upon by extremely mobile soldiers capable of precognition. In a desperate counterattack, a research lab was revealed that contained an Eldar with a number of Squat assistants. The survivors reported several shrines to known Eldar gods, which has deepened the mysteries at play. Threat Level: Maxima Extremis. "Regardless of strategic realities, politically, this world must be taken now."
-[] 25k Astartes, Durante, Auro, Knight House

Solarus makes bombs
Proto heroes basically split evenly from that

Just to let everyone know, there's been a bit of a change to the plan. We'll be saving Unidentified Hostile 02-02-FF for next turn and sending Maticus to the Makyrs alongside Doom Slayer due to concerns of Doom Slayer being overwhelmed by potentially needing to fight multiple Bloodthirsters and an Honored Daemon Prince of Khorne at the same time, as the Daemon Prince in question is estimated to have a combat bonus of approximately +200 all by their lonesome. The Cherished Son will be going with Solarus, and the 10000 Astartes are getting distributed around all the deployments except World 02-06-09 and the Thestrals.

I do have a concern that assuming the unknown space marines are a 'lesser threat' is going to lead to badness, but that's due to me disliking to make assumptions in general and especially in situations like the maelstrom. But QM warnings about the plan being risky have pushed for a 'what can we afford not to do' and the unknown space marines have been designated as that. I don't have any better ideas so all we can do is hope this is the right move.

So are you making a new version of the plan foe people to vote on or do the votes for the old version of the plan still count for this version?

Write it in. The original proposal he suggested still exists within Discord server logs. If you do not have Discord or do not want to join the server, the known available heroes, proto-heroes, and Astartes should be listed (probably again somewhere between this page and the vote) within Nick's plan itself.

--[x] 8000 Astartes + Oriacarius + Khalsa + Hektor + Assassin Execution Force + Vigilance
-[x] Unidentified Hostile 02-02-FF - An unknown threat that immediately killed the first wave of Imperial Army scout vessels, the last anyone heard from the scouts were frantic messages that they had been invaded by Astartes who had captured 90% of their vessels. Analyzing the audio has revealed evidence for the existence of super soldiers being present. Threat Level: Maxima Extremis. "While I don't like the idea of unknown threats if needed, we could put off investigating this. Intelligence reports indicate this threat is somewhat isolationist."
--[x] 10000 Astartes (9000 Eternal Wardens and 1000 Space Wolves) + Maticus + Sergeant Lares + Gabriel + Cherished Son
-[x] World 02-06-09 - The majority of this daemonworld's description contains multiple high-threat cognito-hazards. Whatever the Imperial Army can provide you, I will ensure you get it if needed."
--[x] 10000 Astartes + Auro + Baldur + Triquetra + Titan Legion
-[x] Abominable Intelligence Epsilon-354 - An artificial intelligence with a rare known history, Epsilon-354 was initially in charge of a large warp experimentation site when Slaanesh was born. This broke it in as of yet unknown ways, causing it to exterminate all that get near its heavily fortified world of massed Knights, Titans, artillery, and mechanized vehicles. It is also notable for continuing its research. Threat Level: Maxima Extremis. "...I really hate that we could justify delaying this. Despite the rate at which AI can grow and adapt, making that normally a horrendous idea."
--[x] 15000 Astartes (13000 Eternal Wardens, 1000 Iron Warriors, and 1000 Death Guard) + Solarus + Scotty + Beltran
-[x] The Maykrs - A Xenos species that resides upon several tainted worlds visited by a variety of unique daemons, they are led by an exiled daemon prince of Khorne.
--[x] 12000 Astartes + Doom Slayer + Lance Dorner + Relic Stormbird + Enbarr
-[x] Lahrens - A research world occupied by insane Squats who have been delving into some of the darkest non-Chaos arts.
--[x] 15000 Astartes (14000 Eternal Wardens and 1000 Raven Guard) + Durante/Vergil + Abdul + All named Astartes not mentioned elsewhere
-[x] The Thestrals - A daemon moon around a gas giant, this moon is only lightly occupied by daemons, with the majority being unaligned chaos furies. The primary reason for this seems to be a narrative event in the past that stripped the moon of all useful resources, leaving only daemons bound to its service. Threat Level: Medium. "The Imperial Army could handle this alone, but they would be unhappy about it."
--[x] 5000 Astartes + Julian Hectus
-[x] The Cemetery - Abandon all hope is the national phrase of the denizens of this world. Under assault by four active warp rifts, the soldiers present have done an incredible job holding firm for centuries against daemons that have toyed with them for all that time. However, this has shattered their psyche, resulting in a planet that fights not to survive, nor for revenge. They fight because their fathers did, and their fathers before them. They fight because they know not what else to do. Threat Level: Hard. "The Imperial Army plans to bomb the warp rifts from orbit, which would kill all life on the planet. If there are Astartes available, that will change the calculus."
--[x] 5500 Astartes + Aengus
-[x] Domain Policing - With the boom in embezzlement and piracy in Svarga, it may be helpful to deploy a contingent of Wardens to try and reduce the current levels. It would also be rather popular among the domain as a whole, even if the average guardsmen may mutter some complaints. Threat Level: N/A. "I don't really have any opinion on that."
--[x] 5000 Astartes (3000 Eternal Wardens, 1000 Dark Angels, and 1000 Ultramarines) + Aurelian
-[x] World Eaters Legion Master Aid
--[x] 4000 Astartes + Bader + Dian
-[x] Aiding Martian Excavations
--[x] 3000 Astartes (2000 Eternal Wardens and 1000 Iron Hands) + Bodin
-[x] IA Support Requests
--[x] 7500 Astartes (4500 Eternal Wardens, 1000 Blood Angels, 1000 Luna Wolves, and 1000 Emperor's Children) + Knight House + Night Watch

Ok then there we go I copied the original plan and renamed it so the plan creators can change the plan, and I can have my preferred vote.

Also... the original plan is still shown. Aside from moving the Triquetra, the one with the open boxes (that's these []) is the same as what the current plan was prior to removing the Unidentified Hostile deployment
