Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Given that Molly can't open ways herself whenever she is in the never-never she is in fact trapped in the never-never and gets the CCC to escaping. I actually hope that something intercepts us because it will learn that it is trapped in here with us.

[X] Take the Ways, as Monoc Intends

Let's save the reveal on Molly's strategic speed for later. Barring using the Ways, I don't think there's any form of travel that can rival her nigh-instant water-teleportation when it comes to movement speed on a global scale. For that matter, even if someone figures out a way to block the Ways if they don't know she can move through any form of water they won't bother to block off streams or rivers. It's a nice asset to keep on the down low until we need it.

Yeah don't think immediately taking pics is a good look. Clippy prroobbabbly can record relatively unobtrusively. Also, is this one of the first times Molly has taken the ways? That could be useful, since we see people will flee via it in a manner that RVD can't trivially follow.

Yes, unless you want to count being kidnapped, taken to Arctis Tor and then returning as taking a kind of Way, between Chicago and the same place in Chicago.

by the way dp I'd like to note odin has soulfire. Jim butcher says its never going to come up in story though. But, I'd like to note that for here. No idea if having souls is universal for gods but it at least is for odin.

Will you implement this in anyway if you didn't know?

You know me, I'm never a fan of showing my hands when unnecessary and where others are watching. Especially Anduriel, that smarmy shadowy bastard.

Incidentally if we get attacked following the path Monoc gives us I am counting that as a battle that they can called us to.

No pics, nothing fancy, deliberately nothing fancy. Keep everything in reserve for when shit hits the fan and reveal nothing.

Ok, fine. No pictures (for now).

-[X] Stunt: As the way into NeverNever opens before you, the ethereal winds caressing your skin, your senses unfurl, taking in the unreality of it all. It is, after all, the first time you get to travel here that is not an... emergency. You are going to take it all in.

Him getting some benefit out of it later isn't the same as being a net benefit, and it certainly wasn't something Dresden chose.

OK, I'll give you Dresden. I still don't think the comparison is really transferable to us with Lara, though. The supernatural world is a much harsher place and the White Court, or at least the Raiths, are basically more like an average "law-abiding" citizens of it, not an equivalent of what a crime lord is to mundane people. That would be more like having a reputation of being friendly with Denarians and the Fomor.

For the association to have actual negative consequences for us, there would need to be a faction moral enough to care about a connection to White Court, yet flexible enough to still deal with someone who has an aura like an Infernal Exalted does.

So, that pretty much means White Council, which we are mostly avoiding anyway. For the Gray Council, McCoy would dislike it, but we already have an in through Vaderrung. The Library of Congress might be more likely to consider us a security risk, but it's not like we want to become their subordinate either.

So, it has some negatives, but I still don't think it's some big general problem that needs immediate solving for it's own sake either. Wanting to concentrate, focus and grow our power is goal for its own sake. It also invalidating some rumors would just be a nice side effect.

Not how it works, and trying is a bad idea.

The favor economy is critical for big players, which means you have to scrupulous about your word.

A certain amount of exact phrasing games are normal, but your proverbial credit score is determined by stuff like this.

The bedrock is keeping the terms, but what working with you is like is also a factor. We don't want to owe favors, but we do want people to want to have them from us.

We'd just be undercutting our own buying power.

If something does happen while nominally doing work for him we could press for alternative forms of recompense, but it'd have to be a pretty egregious case to be worth it.

From a supernatural perspective we're driving to work. If we try to sue the company for a roadway incident there better be some clear links involved.

I like how Molly is able to connect with this old warrior by joking about supernatural violence.

Like it's almost easier to have a casual conversation with an Einherjar than some normal off the street.

I don't think it's an immediate five alarm fire, but it does need management.

The salient point here is that controlling your messaging is part of growing as a power. Neglecting it is detrimental while handling it is relatively simple and profitable.

I don't really understand your dismissals here either. I've demonstrated how this can be a problem, how material strength and simply going about your business don't necessarily give you a free pass, and it's well established that the whamps specialize in this stuff.

The situation isn't exactly a ticking bomb, but so far you haven't refuted anything so much as asserted it would be fine because "what are they going to do about it?".

"what are they going to do about it?".
Well, ultimately, yeah? I mean, what are they going to do about it? Lara has no hold over us, and her ability to exploit connection between us and her is limited by our potential displeasure. I ultimately just don't actually see what she can do based on these assumed perceptions that we would care about.
