Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Even the people without senses that acute noticed when what was Lord Skavis began to talk in words and tones not meant for any mortal throat, and then started spamming Rank 9 discipline techniques like they were rice at a wedding reception.
Keep in mind that Skavis' first move was to create a barrier of black fire (illusionary) around himself and his guards.
There's no reason to assume that illusion failed until at least his death.

So only people with high Auspex could have actually seen or heard us, besides his guards.
I'm sure there are plenty of people with non-physical perceptions who noticed the appearance and death of a Walker anyway, but likely not the mooks.

Did that illusion persist after he graduated from independent being to fresh meatsuit?

The Outsider's arrival may have been somewhat obscured given it took place right next to Molly who is herself a terrifying mystical event.

As far as I'm aware Molly hasn't stopped being a very obvious presence.

[X] I Can't Believe It's Not Coercion
-[X] Provisionally accept his surrender… to the white court
-[X] Make clear to Lara later that we want a say in the fates of people who took up arms against us directly before a public decision is reached.
-[X] In the immediate sense prioritize the fight.
-[X] [Stunt] " You" Molly says, for a moment almost carrying the smell of wet meat and the impossible sensations of an Outsider's death on her breath " Are going to follow me, and accept the court's judgment over you"
—[X] " Face it, and you will likely face mine. Flee from it and I'll simply take revenge."

I think it's just a general "throw down your arms, and you get to live until at least the active fighting is over" situation, no specifics intended.

And if Lara strongly objects, we could turn him human.
A distinction is being made about who gets him, so it's presumably relevant.

As to the other bit, we don't actually know if we can do that. If it is possible you'd be tossing some white phosphorus on our roiling house fire without a clear idea of the real consequences.

For something as big a deal as that we shouldn't just throw random shit around to see what happens in whatever volatile context we find ourselves in.

COMMENTARY
I did suspect that a Walker's idea of time would not necessarily have the same referents as that of an 18 year old from Chicago
But I couldnt think of a relevant question to ask in combat time.

Lydia is going to notice that Molly didnt bother going shintai to kill this dude when she did for the greater akuma.
So will Dresden. Lara might as well; if she and her resources noticed Molly going shintai at the Museum back when Kattrin was here, they'll notice that Molly didnt pull out the same degree of effort here.

Its sure going to be hilarious when Molly notes that its a school night and she has school in the morning.

The White Council is going to be asking interesting questions of Dresden over the next day and half.
Because I doubt that a Walker incarnated this fully in Chicago without drawing attention and alarms. He Who Walks Before /Sharkface did it in Cold Days, but Sharkface is one of the Three, and is rather better at stealth than this one appears to have been.

I wonder what the breakage is gonna be.
We have personally confirmed the deaths of the three highest-ranking conspirators on the list: Madrigal, Skavis Heir and Duke Skavis are all dead, but Molly's list was around 2x that, with Lara's list being around 14 or so.

The fact that those Skavis bodyguards were able to fight that close to the Walker gives hope that we arent going to be looking at a hall full of guests with mental trauma or insanity from being in the general vicinity of a Walker without appropriate mental protections. Hopefully.

I honestly dont think the fate of the surrendered Skavis bodyguard is much of a big deal. If he was next to Duke Skavis, that means hes not had the opportunity to do anything since Contstantine Raith made his declaration, and he's not one of the two who attacked Molly. Noone has any interest in killing him or making an example of him; he's just going to be interrogated and let go.

The two that ran on the other hand, are in more of a pickle. They are probably not on the List, but they did attack Molly.
Depends, I guess.
None of Molly's business.

We fought at least part of this duel in the air, which means that we were likely beyond the coverage of the Chimestry barrier for at least part of the fight.
Hence my suspicion that even low level Auspex is useful here.

Plus, I am betting that every vampire here has Awareness.

In character for Molly Carpenter, and IC for the daughter of a Knight of the Cross.
And Lara would frankly expect this.
Shouldnt be a big deal.

We do, actually. Ancient Sorcery can turn a whampire human.
@DragonParadox
I don't know if you've answered that one before, but would the Banishment/Exorcism spell allow us to turn White Vamps human?

Unlike most vamps they are already very human and alive, just with a hunger-demon inside them, which is much closer to Formori than to WoD-vamps.

Also if that doesn't work because the union of human and hunger is too close to sever without killing them, would it work for White Court virgins then?
Yes Banishment would get rid of the Hunger, but you would need some way to heal the aggravated damage ripping it out would cause much like with a WoD fomor. A White Court Virgin on the other hand could be safely exorcised with no healing as their demon is not properly integrated into their body and soul yet.
It only deals Lethal damage to former Formor.

10 dice, at a rate of 1 die per minute to be excact.
That's even survivable if you are a lucky human. You can't soak it, but dice aren't levels, luckily.
It would only take relativly minor healing, like an alchemy-made potion to be sure to survive that.
*checks*
You are right, I had remembered it as agg for some reason, probably mixed it up with the werewolf theurge power that does the same thing while causing agg, but that's the advantage of being an Exalted I guess, when you rip a demon out of someone you do it.... somewhat less painfully.

And I don't even know if Chimestry effects do get dropped in death.
Probably not given this:

n order to properly utilize Chimerstry, the vampire has to experience the illusion he creates himself, deceiving even himself for an instant about the substance of his creation (which can lead to Rötschreck if the vampire summons the illusion of fire). Also, the vampire can only create illusions he can perceive by himself; a deaf vampire could not create auditory illusions, while a blindfolded vampire could not summon visual illusions.
Cite is a base requirement for all its powers.

Also, the barrier should only cover what he programmed it for. Visual stuff isn't necessarily the same as whatever exotic energy came out from that fight.
We do, actually. Ancient Sorcery can turn a whampire human.
Okay, thanks for the cite.

Still a really bad idea to even bring up. We should be using tools to achieve particular goals and have a reasonable idea of the consequences are for all parts.

This is just waving around something shiny because we can. Even if showing off like this wasn't for hacks it's reasonable to think it could cause us problems for no gain.

Actually using the ability under some conditions is one thing, but a display is another. Especially at a moment like this.

Are going to follow me, and accept the court's judgment over you"
Isn't the punishment for treason death? He'll prob try and run first chance he gets if he thinks the court will have him killed anyway.
And if Lara strongly objects, we could turn him human.
Why do you keep suggesting that? I thought it was concluded that turning vampires human was a not insignificiant time sink for questionable gain?

I think anything else would be out of character for Molly and I also don't think this is such a big deal as some people make it that it requires its own plan/stunt.

I just want to say, because I haven't put it into words so far... I really, really, reaaaaaaally love this quest. I love the writing, I love what DP did with the DF characters, I love how well integrated the two settings are, I love the update speed, and I love the questers choices of votes, where they walk that fine line between staying in character and making good tactical choices.

Also, as an aside, man, good Exalted fics are so hard to find, it's a shame :(

---

In it's own hellish, ear-hurting inhuman clicky language like the two of them were old golfing buddies and trying to kill each other was making par, yes. After their patriarch summoned the horrific thing that hurts your eyes to look at into his own body as a doomsday solution, yes.

"Outsider? Me? Nonsense, I took a tire iron to the Winter Lady the other day and Mab thanked me for it."

I think Molly was responding in Old Realm. Like two people talking, one in English and the other in French, both understanding each other but being more comfortable expressing themselves in their own tongue.

And thus perhaps we see why creation is of such interest to the uncreated: Precisely because it is finite and some at least wish for the finite. The dream of it. Was, is, will be, isn't, never will be again. And in the same words we have come closer to knowing the Sixth Law and that its wording is obfuscation meant to lead one away from the mechanism of its commission.

[X] Accept his surrender and some responsibility for his fate, you will save who you can

We are the sword of the world, we have struct for it, and we are barely scratched while Lara is in tatters as is her court. We are a power that has accepted what passes for friendship in a night without friends, not a servant. We will act in her interests, we will take the heads of those who dare meet her eyes, but we are our own.

Even if Lara wished to spare many, she couldn't. Her throne rules her rather than the reverse. But she can blame mercy upon us.
