Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Instead of the screaming and the cursing and pain you might have expected all you hear is a weary sigh, if sighs tasted like like the dead cores of neutron stars.

A sigh... chances of them being Neverborn rising.

... Was this basically the Walker trying to commit suicide by one of the few measures that would actually stick?

It... does seems like it.

Like the core of a neutron star, it is a unique taste and no Molly does not know why or even how she can know the taste of Neutron Star matter.

Lyyyyyyyyyggggggiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Yes, I blame the green sun for this.)

I wonder how many people who were present at the party really understand what just happened? And of those, how many will survive the night?

@DragonParadox, from Molly's understanding of the occult, how likely does she judge that the Walker's death will be detected throughout the supernatural world?

Where it touches you it parts, it cannot touch the Crown that came to you, the power out of Ages lost, that much you know for certain, but in this time and in this place it lends something of its fortitude to Molly Carpenter. It feels a bit like ducking behind a bookshelf to keep from getting shot, an almost disrespectful misuse, like you should have learned to do this with proper elegance. Even the thing lurking behind the dead man's eyes seems mildly offended to have its power so rudely denied

Not just Molly, but even her foes are annoyed she doesn't have a Perfect Defense yet and has to resort to brute force Exalted Counterspelling to tank stuff like this. I mean if it works it works, I just find it hilarious both Molly and the Walker are offended by what she just did :D

Somehow I can't help but think this purge is somewhat more costly than Lara hoped for.

With all the firepower that got thrown around.

Hey, at least Dresden didn't get to burn the house down.
She really gotta thank us for that :p

Was this us bouncing it with counterspelling, IPM, or just him pinging off of the exaltation's no possession rule?

In any case, shaping defenses are definitely up the list. Right after the hell in my book unless we get the partial coverage from CCI.

He Who Walks Unbowed Slain
You recover 3 Essence -> Now at 13/15

This is solidly in the category of "needing to make a stiff occult roll to understand how badass that was" for most people, but hopefully the eldritch ranting and all that will serve as a hint.

That said, if someone had Auspex running there could be some soiled pants over a proper immortal dying outside of Halloween. Outsider or not that's a spicy ability right there.

Hopefully we didn't chew with our mouth open and spray detectable energy across half the city.
two of them had fled and the third one, the one who had never raised their weapon against you, had thrown himself at your feet.
Lol, guess they took a hint. Trying to use your secret super weapon to kill something that doesn't even consider you worth addressing would be a clue to get out.

I doubt it is as easily noticed out big things we might have killed. It's an outsider by definition it has very limited connection with the world.

We rolled really high on MHM. We could bring the house down if we wanted.

We are not Lara's executioner, and worse comes to worst we can render them human and thus irrelevant to White Court politics.

Given how deep this rot went it was probably also more necessary than she realized.

We also don't know how bloody the rest of it got. Not everyone here was a traitor after all, and of them most shouldn't have been that crazy good relative to what Lara was planning for.

She isn't perfect, but some basic competence is required for her to have gotten this far.

It certainly helps that we're going to step back into the stage with a nearly full essence pool, our buffs running full tilt, and one scratch that's not even slowing us down.

I think we'll see some more surrenders shortly.
I was thinking of that, but I was like no way we are a Theion chosen more then a Malfeas one.
Yeah, but that just indicates how old this guy's lore is. He at minimum saw the continuity of Theion to Malfeas as legitimate enough to use his whole name instead of his crippled one.

When you think you're doing a family-unfriendly purge, y'know just execute a few troublemakers, make a couple examples, and show everyone who's boss-

Then all of a sudden you hear Final Destination blaring, all your items are gone, you're suddenly a fox, and the Exalted you invited is brawling with an Outsider as everyone else descends into pandemonium and starts chucking out their nuclear deterrents as if it's now or never.

Meanwhile the White King is just sitting back zoned out as his court cannibalizes itself in a frenzy of bloodshed and dark magic, while Harry is wondering who set off the metaphorical nuke(s) tonight that his magical senses are telling him are why the local leylines/Dragon Nests are quietly? crying.

No one going to comment on the "Spawn of the Emprian Chaos" part?

That was Theion's title before he became Malfeas.
I did comment on it. This is something very, very old that we killed. Predating the Primordial War even. Quite possibly something (a raksha) that remembers Crestion being made.

We really, really need to use the crown. We have two leads - Prince of the Earth and Empyrian Chaos. Also Walker's own identity. Basically, we struck gold.

Mab's adding another line on the tally labelled "better use the carrot for this one."

While his death itself would be pretty hard to detect, his summoning and the sheer presence of most a Walker within reality going all out with an Infernal going equally against them... I highly doubt everyone understands what happened, but sure felt it.

Our reputation will skyrocket (but, annoyingly, our search for the fallen native god will be much harder, he will dig an even deeper hole than already and will only face us after having made a lot of preparations, maybe even agreements with our outhers enemies).

(Speaking of which, what the hell is Mab and the Gatekeeper doing? Is the summoning of most of a Walker in Chicago, a major US city and where both courts have influence and nothing? Or was it too quick to they react before we killed him?)

I hope Lara asks more favors from us after the weakening of the Court (death of the lord and heir of one of the Houses and the fact that the heir of another is possibly a puppet of the Outside) and the display of our power, when she owes us more influence we will have in the decisions of the White Court.

If we had MMP we could give our Wampires Elder level reserves in days (even without high discipline levels being able to play power no matter the cost is still useful), showing we have many benefits if the Court ally with us. With our Hell it will be easier, because instead of a small group from the city (albeit with the ridiculously strong leader) we will be able to talk from faction leader to another with Lara, giving more legitimacy to our future alliance.

Edit: Also, I find it hilarious Molly just ignored the whampire minions trying to interfere in the fight, who technically contributed more to hurting her than the Walker did, yet still ended up unmentioned and unnoticed until after Molly was finished slaying the monster from beyond reality. No wonder 2 fled and 1 is trying to surrender, they accomplished basically nothing while Molly was wholly occupied doing something else, I wouldn't want to fight someone who just ignores my stabbing them as they're too busy defeating an Outsider to care about my chip damage.

I am keenly reminded of the images I see of hippos wandering around seemingly giving zero fucks as multiple lions dangle from their hides.

It's kinda insane they can remember when usum can't. Do demons have shorter memories? What are outsiders made of?
"Not having to care about linear time" seems to be a common thing for Those From Outside.

I was thinking of that, but I was like no way we are a Theion chosen more then a Malfeas one.
The thing might have recognized us not as Infernal exalted, chosen of Malfeas, but as a nascent Primordial, heir of Theion's glory, his metaphysical daughter.

Usum lost his memories due to long term torture by Kakuri, if I understand correctly.

We are probably never getting a full story of usums memories right? I'd do basically anything to get background lore from him so we know wtf we are in character and how the age of legends ended.
