Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

If it's useless then why are people voting for it? Genuine question. I'm trying to decide what to vote on but don't want to waste essence.
Dunno but in all honesty, spending 1 Essence on the Melee Excellency is more useful. It does more and lasts 4 turns. So that is potential 4 damage each turn for 4 turns.

Ah...Idk what to think anymore. I knew not paying attention to the game mechanics in favor of enjoying the story would bite me in the ass. I'll sit this vote out I suppose.

I guess the real question is what the DC on his soak is. If it's the standard 6 then 5 dice only soaks about 2 on average. In which case spending the mote likely saves us a round and a wound. But without seeing any dice rolls we can't really make intelligent decisions.

The drawback is that they're both explicitly on the same conditional. If you're in armor no debuff.
No, they arent.
I can see why you might argue that, but thats not what the sentence construction suggests.
I quote:
Signature Effect: When the Infernal dons her Shintai form, it comes into the world accompanied by a blinding, choking sandstorm. Anyone caught in the storm without sufficient protection (such as motorcycle leathers, a werewolf's thick fur, or some form of protective magic) suffers one level of bashing damage per minute, alongside a –2 penalty to all rolls.
The two effects arent linked.
If the author had meant to imply that they were, he would have said:
Signature Effect: When the Infernal dons her Shintai form, it comes into the world accompanied by a blinding, choking sandstorm. Anyone caught in the storm without sufficient protection (such as motorcycle leathers, a werewolf's thick fur, or some form of protective magic) suffers one level of bashing damage per minute and –2 penalty to all rolls.
That comma and the <alongside> would not be necessary if this was a single condition.
Its only there because those are independent clauses specifying independent effects.

Which makes logical sense.
Simple armor will save you from taking bashing damage from a sandstorm. It doesnt save you from the perception debuff, or the choking sensation of breathing the air in a sandstorm and how it affects everything else.

And its in line with the effects of other 5 dot Signature Effects like The King and the Kingdom: The Thousand and First Hell, which both imposes a shaping effect on the world around the Infernal and gives him a -1DC buff every time he uses it in a stunt, which is essentially all the time when you're in Shintai.
Moving members in and out of clauses based on interpretation of authorial intent can have dramatic impacts on what something actually does. That's the realm of house rules, not obvious baselines for arguments prior to them being explicitly set.
Of course it can. But thats always been the truth of TTRPGs.
Thats why errata comes out for professionally published works months and even years after publishing.
But this is a free fanwork.

About to? He absolutely did, we've just corked the bottle with our finger. Which might not really be obvious from the outside beyond the potential radiant emissions of like 7 motes betting spent in less than a minute by an infernal anointed in the blood of a vampire princeling.

Really from the outside the most encouraging sign is that the two exploding flavors of horrible are currently clashing instead of going full Reese's Cup. :V
Fair enough
:V
The thing is he has summoned/possessed by an outsider.
The moment he dies, it is free and the real fight begins.
Saving motes for that is essential because this is just the first phase of a boss fight.

[x] You are going to kill this thing, but if it's feeling chatty who are you to complain?
-[x] How long has it been since you last saw a Prince of the Earth?
Not how it has worked in the Dresdenverse to date in canon.

When Dresden killed/destroyed the body of He Who Walks Behind when he was 16, the Outsider was banished, and didnt get to pull a This Isnt My Final Form. When Madge fumbled her summoning in Blood Rites and He Who Walks Behind returned, he killed her but didnt get to reincorporate and start another fight.

When Vito Malvora was presumably killed when the Raith Deeps were blown up, the possessing Outsider didnt get to pull a second stage boss fight either. We kill this body, its gone.

However.
In this situation, we have to keep in mind that Vittorio Malvora is still alive, and is either touched or possessed by an Outsider.
So we cant really afford to run ourselves out of power because we might still have to deal with him tonight.

I wonder what happens outside of the little illusion-bubble Lord Skavis made as his last act before semi-suiciding.

I hope Lara does a good murderblender impression, because Lydia isn't so tough yet that I would put her against near a dozen vampires alone.

Lara canonically has 8 or 9 sisters by Word of Jim. We see five of them in White Night.

Named ones besides the probably-human Inari and the one who is supposed to be insane are Natalia and Elisa(Turn Coat). There's also Tania(Jury Duty) and Felicia(Ghost Story), but while they both bear the Raith surname, I cant confirm off the top of my head if they are her sisters or if they are also cousins or nieces or otherwise related.

And thats not counting minions and other vampires sworn to House Raith directly.
She's good.

So, depending on who and what it is, this Outsider might in principle be subject to Surrender Oaths. I wonder if DragonParadox will allow us to spontaneously buy Emerald circle binding to bind it after we defeat it.

Of course that's a bad idea and we are almost certainly MiMing it instead. Or we are due an angelic intterupt because cosmic politics.

Because the vote to actually make it useful, the one to have it work by adding damage to our damage dice instead of a separate instance with its own soak, didn't pass for some reasons, it got traction too late, despite being clearly and objectively superior, I have to admit that a little author fiat to ignore this vote and make the version that can be used and removes the problem wouldn't be something that I would be against right now, but @DragonParadox had decided to go with the vote at the time despite nobody being really happy with the option that won instead of the next runner up that actually makes it useful, so, well, it's not like we could have it change now since we didn't use it since then, because the new version is useless.

*Hinthintnudgenudge* Did I butter it up enough?

I'm not really sure what useful answer can it give us, except "since the Second Age, when there were all the cool pals", but I guess I'm missing something.

For me, there are several hopes:
1) that there is linear time interval between Age of Legends and today. That's actionable intelligence
2) That it would use some event as a reference, like "not since the Scarlet Empress's wedding". We could then use voice recording or something else as a focus for the crown.

Crown of Eyes is not something that existed into the Age of Legends from what I recall, and is one thing our powers are superior to those of ancient exalts. This is not something the Walker would expect us to have.

Damn. I've had this sitting in a tab to the side for quite awhile as something to eventually get around to reading, but wasn't in a rush. Didn't notice that it was a quest rather than just a fic.

Well, I guess I'll start binging.

You need to kill something to use a spirit killer. All we are killing now is the WVampire NOT the outsider puppeting him.
Pretty sure we're getting both, the outer knights can't normally chest burst like this and he's definitely present in some capacity.

I was assuming need follow the usual rule of continuing to use excellency when it clearly makes sense. Stopping now would be suicidal.

Even if you disagree with me on GSNF, which yes isn't as killy as it could be but still has utility in my view seeing as we've pushed two bosses to the brink with it so far, please consider either taking the stunt from the other version of my vote that doesn't have it or adding your own.

That's +2 dice to our murdering I don't think we had during the start of this exchange.

It's feeling chatty, but it's doubtful it'll just let us interrogate it. My hope is that it starts reminiscing about the specifics of the last time it fought an exalt instead of just answering like an old guy with his favorite war stories.

Additionally, right now it's in an amazing mood. It's an evil piece of crap we're going to try to soul kill, but keeping things polite while we work our way to who is going to actually die is beneficial to us. Even if we get nothing else that's still worth taking a free action to maintain.

IIRC, didn't @DragonParadox confirm that the only reason we couldn't perma-kill Nemesis was because of its unique nature as an entity that exists as a multifarious hive mind rather than as a single individual?

The Walker is actually here wearing a Skavis suit, as here as it can be at least, so it should be fair game for MiM.

Stunts are automatically Chosen znc do not count as a seperate vote.

It is only if charm use is put as an option that the vote is counted seperately.

As for the 2 for 1 part, let us agree to disagree.

Stunts, that is means of doing something for the purposes of getting extra dice are chosen automatically from among the most popular with the winning options so as to avoid leaving you guys without that bonus dice If the vote is qualitatively changed in a way that uses up more resources or closes off options in the future then has a higher standard to pass and the whole vote needs a majority. In the event that a stunt specifically does any of the above you will receive a warning that it will be held to the latter standard. Stunts should be marked as [Stunt] which option will always be given for any vote on an action that would involve an immediate roll.

[X] Nope, not listening to Eldritch Abominations, that is probably on the Evil Overlord List and if it isn't it should be, just kill it
