Super Robot Quest G

Why, if I may ask?

Like, why specifically, right this second? Sure, a submersible is an important thing to have, but we don't need one right now, nor will we get one. We can always do that after the results of the Oil Platform research provide us with a narrative impetus to.
I want a submersible or some research into aquatics before we go after the Oil Platform

Truthfully, I don't understand why people seem to be going out of their way to avoid submersibles when we've already got in-character confirmation that 2/3 of the known enemy factions use them, and the third presumably isn't too far behind if they don't already have them.

Like, it's something we know we need to work on, and the sooner we start the sooner we can get a working product, right? So... why're we ignoring that tech tree?

I actually think that is because we were scrambling to build up what we had and aquatic vehicles are just an area it would take even more time to enter

Because it's preferable to finish up tech trees already in progress that are next to milestones than open up new ones that we don't have any specialists in.

We also don't have a vehicle that can be turned into a submersible. Those things are cramped to a fare thee well.

Anyway, I'm genuinely hyped to see how the Funnel project develops from my plan if it wins. Like yeah. Were going SUPER DUPER all in on this tech platform, but based on everything we've seen up until now itll be truly unique and exclusive to our own weapon ecosystem. Sheol just lacks the miniaturization and hard speccing into Psychic tech to have a hope of replicating it at scale (heh). The Westphalians are too busy aping Kausians and the DFRI to figure out an energy source like Faedium. And the Kausians are far too cocky to ever consider using meat and the like, they'll consider minituarized drones at most, but they lack the ability to make them relevant in a fight beyond an Ocular knockoff.

The second these babies debut and spit out miniaturized blaster bolts, missiles, or pin-point dispersion fields people are going to flip.

Why stop there? We can coat some in Zirvitium, apply a K-Lung bladder and now we'll be cooking with Fangs, too!

We might need to put in an automatic self destruct trigger if the Funnels get too damaged in a scrum for tech deniability after a battle. The kaiju acid code would finally come in handy outside of being a weapon.

..... Think we could use the Funnels as blades instead of guns
Already ahead of ya, friend!

And given the sizes involved, we could build the things deliberately around that to boot.

Which, unfortunately, is also being neglected. If we don't have specialists and don't try to obtain specialists, the mindset you're talking about means we will never attempt to research a required tech tree.

Because there's no such thing as "finishing up a tech tree" when, near as I can tell, tech trees are infinitely branching. If you ask me, it's better to start a new tech tree that is 100% confirmed to be required than it is to get permanently sidetracked by the "get sidetracked by the latest shiny" routine.

"The broadcasting company wants to branch out into shiny new merch" is also a valid reason. It might not be a good reason, but it is a reason. :p

Also, I am digging the speculation the thread's going through. :D Carry on!

Or, Sir Plusse, or!

We could finish whatever we currently have on the table instead, like what I'm doing with the Funnel Plan. Instead of going off chasing after a relative boondoggle in a half assed fashion

We can go into submersibles later.

I really want to give Ichiro that upgrade he's wanting next turn guys. As for the Argonauts. if they turn into another Super Robot I am going to be a bit amused since I didn't create them with that in mind.

Plusse in the First place we should finish up our Current Tech Tree.

We're at Year 4.

Why should we swerve into an entirely different direction at the last stretch again.
Edited.
[X] Plan GO! FIN FUNNELS!

I included construction of such an upgrade in my plan for just that purpose, yeah. The Perseus is gonna get a Pile Driver. And Ichirous getting a bigger gun.

We'll also be starting construction on a Seeker Core Unit at last. Now that's a beauty that can be purpose built for a new battlefield role.

Again, there is no such thing as "finishing up our current tech tree." If you mean "finishing up our current project" just say so; don't pretend that researching new stuff won't invariably unlock something new to look into to keep us from looking into, again, required technology to achieve the victory condition.

And for why we should research submersibles right now: We have been told, time and again, that Westphalia uses submarines, and Kaiju are amphibious. Hell, we just had Westphalia make a clean getaway specifically because we don't have submersibles. If that's not enough incentive to start a submarine project soon, you're the ones who're holding us back by overspecializing our loadout.

No one's saying that going into submersibles would hold anyone back, Plusse. We're just saying other stuff is more important to prioritize over it.

Besides, trying to checkmate Westphalia is boring. This cat and mouse stuff is fun as it stands.

I kinda dont want to mess with the tempo as things begin to escalate. Sure. Most other games optimization may be King. But here? Being sporting gives the setting a chance to keep up with us, and in so doing keep things fun for us and Basarin.
