It may be usefull not gonna lie. Since that way we could waste G.U.N's resources, but in doing so we will be wasting our own resources too that could be used for other things like defending other bases from Sonic and co.

I like the idea that they movilized their forces to such a harsh environment for nothing XD. In fact it would be even funny if we leave clues indicating that there IS a base there so G.U.N is forced to search for a base that doesn't exist.
 
You know I just realized how exactly did GUN find the desert base, when we raided tails they could have followed the pawns but here? I dare say Rouge might have leaked its location to GUN.

Option A lets us play at a themed base. Option B lets us curse them. Win-Win either way.

We should have a Bone-themed boss too. For Datcord!

Hmmm well first things first is the boss made of bones or will it have something keeping it together like a special kind of mega tar?

Sandy Sphere
The Obelisks aren't just for show. The core of this boss is an egg-shaped computer that gather them together via it's magnetic field to form a skeletal body. The energy it generates and the CPU's processing makes it ideal for fighting armies off, able to focus it's lasers across the field at a higher rate of fire, and it's hands can spear closer foes and crush those underfoot.. It's primary weakness is the weapons it's gathered. Destroying specific obelisks can disrupt the field keeping it's limbs together and leave it more vulnerable for a time after it falls. (The sand in the desert cushions this fall, the sphere would be more vulnerable to fall damage on harder terrain.)

Honestly I was thinking of a boss bot covered in a special kind of muck made just for it, course the bones on it are razor sharp preventing sonic and co's main form of attack.

...Not especially fond of this idea, to be perfectly honest. Like, it doesn't really feel like boss material, to me, y'know?

Honestly, when you said "bone-themed" I expected something more along the lines of... well, Zelda's stronger Stalfos incarnations. ...and now I'm gonna add that idea to my compilation as a miscellaneous idea.

Tbh I was thinking of monster hunters nakarkos but I can't really figure out how to describe it.
